Does the FB appointment an indication of our new owners finances/resources if so a tad worrying especially at the start of ownership.

Why? Do you know how much we're paying him? Do you know how much any other candidates were hoping for? Do you know how much dosh AL has in his arse pocket? If the answer to those questions is 'no', your point is, er, pointless.

I will never get my head around this "cheap option" opinion. Unless you know how much anyone at the club is being paid or how much money AL has, it's guesswork based on fuck all.

I'll sit back and wait for the arguments proving the"cheap option" theory and subsequent downboats.

  2. Bunn won't be everyone's cup of tea, and if perfectly honest, I was hoping for someone with managerial experience of some sort, but he does have a wealth of coaching experience. He might just be the one to encourage the use of the younger players a la Edmundson etc. Like many have said, let's give him a chance before writing him off and see what he does with player recruitment, shipping out those he doesn't rate, steadying the dressing room (which by all accounts, if true, wasn't too friendly a place at times) and develops an entertaining brand of football.

I honestly don't expect instant promotion, just top half would be a good place to start. If we make the play offs, great. Better than that and we'll be in 7th heaven. No one can predict the future, so instead of being determined we're on a slippery slope to oblivion, let's see where the ride takes us.

The one is thing I don't get though, and never will, is the immediate assumption that he is the "cheap option". Unless those that are of such an opinion know how much we're paying him and how much other candidates were asking for, how the sodding hell do you know he is the cheap option? You've nothing to base it on. And that automatically negates the idea that Abdallah doesn't have any dosh either. You don't know, I don't know, no bugger knows. For Christ's sake let's just enjoy the World Cup (if that's possible), look forward to next season with a few grounds we've either never been to or haven't done so for years and get behind the club, the manager, the team, the tea lady and the woman (or bloke) that does the laundry.

It really doesn't hurt that much to try and see the brighter, lighter side of life.

I would say its not for the Trust to to post rumours and hearsay, only actual facts.

I would add to that, only actual facts that they are entitled or allowed to divulge. I don't get this belief that we, as fans, can demand to know the far end of a cat's arse's uncle.

The members of the Trust simply cannot divulge every single snippet of information with which they are entrusted.

Lee Sinnott talks to a number of people at the club. If they choose to give him insider knowledge and he wishes to post that knowledge on here, with their permission I would hope, then so be it. It could be the "insider" is giving the game away when he/she shouldn't be. That is not Mr Sinnott's fault.

But the Trust must act ethically with what they are privy to and, if that is not for public consumption, so be that as well.

I think you're being very charitable.  It was very clear to me that he fucking despised his fellow fans and the Trust position was nothing but a nuisance to him - a route to what he really wanted, which was a job in football.

And don't forget this is a man who asked solicitors to monitor the content of OWTB and threatened legal action, on the basis that people were posting about how fucking useless a fans' representative he was.

    ,

He can fuck right off, as far as I'm concerned.

Very succinctly put. Spot on in every respect.

Some people are born optimists, some born pessimists. I know which ones enjoy life more ! Would agree with this post but whoever gets the job should be given a decent crack at it ( i.e. at least a full 12 months). It seems to me that the people who appoint managers are too quick to sack them just to cover up their error in appointing them.

I'm with you on this, but can you imagine what would happen if Clark, Westley or Ferguson rocked up at BP. Yes, we'd give them our support (I hope) because it's our club, but this place would go into meltdown in seconds. I honestly expect some would pack it in until any of the above had been sacked. Time will tell and, at the moment, it's nothing more than pure speculation.

Very odd timing. Ether RW is behind the article and has been found out, or him and AL have fallen out over transfer dealings. One other reason could be that a replacement has already been fond and RW has only been kept on to keep things ticking over.

In my view a new manager needs to have experience in lower league football. Is it Curle who mysteriously left Carlisle I wonder.

  7. No thank you to Steve Cotterill, Stephen Pressley, Robbie Nielsen, Paul Ince or Gary Megson. And don't even get me going on the possibility of Lee Clark, Darren Ferguson or Graham Westley.

I'd be happy with Scholes, Rosler or Warburton. but I've a feeling it will either be Johnny Foreigner or somebody that no bugger on here will ever want.

Their father, Satan, has special plans for them. Unless they are also red headed in which case they are Lucifer himself.

Thank God I'm not a red head. Oh, wait, there's very little hair at all. What does that mean?

Oh well, back on topic. I wonder how many promising kids we could potentially be missing out on? We'll probably never know, but there could be a young diamond out there that goes on to make a name for himself elsewhere. Crazy.

I was thinking about Irwin in this context

Hardly unique either. Long ago, we had a left back called Ted West (BP 1960 and LaticsPete will no doubt remember him) and he was right footed. Works both ways too. Chris Waddle was entirely left footed, but where did he play?

I'm speaking, of course, from my own perspective as a one time (donkey's years ago) left footed goalkeeper, the purpose of whose right leg acted only in the interests of stopping me falling over.

But, yes, it is somewhat odd that they will exclude right footed players irrespective of their ability.

It's going to take an 'act of God' to get us back into League One and I don't see us as the 'Big fish in the little pond' like some on here.

This pond is very unforgiving for the weak and if praying is required then so be it but I warn you now, you might have very sore knees.

With the knees I've got, there's no way I'd be kneeling. I'd never get up again. But I do like your unbridled optimism.

I'll now remove tongue from cheek.

Highly pathetical I know but had we brought him back for the remaining 8 games I'd of put my home (make that the world) on us still being in League One,

He is the SHEZZERECTION, He is the life!

Now get down on your knees and pray for the coming season.

You didn't really mean "pathetical", did you?

And (Shez)erection and get down on your knees should not be in the same sentence. Think of the children.

Well my post has caused quite an eclectic mix of responses. On the whole a positive mix but you get a sense of infighting between certain members of this forum.

I didn't post what I did to get back slapped or cause a stir of emotions.

I just wanted to voice my love for the club from past memories, present woes and future success,  hopefully !!!

I have been 150miles away now for a number of years and spend most my time surrounded by Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and the odd Carlisle and newly founded Man City glory hunters. You see most people where I live follow their chosen clubs from success or because it sounds good to say you support Man City, in their opinion.

These people dismiss me when I say I support Oldham, it is normally the end of the conversation unless I carry on to listen about their premier league and european adventures.

But I look at these people who are friends and colleagues and think they have no idea what it is like to support a football club, they just chose to do so,  like we would choose a new pair of trainers. I did not choose to be an Oldham fan, it is in my blood and a generation of my family and friends have done so in the past and will continue to do so.

The same as , Rochdale, Bury, Tranmere etc, we all hurt for our clubs and we also feel great pleasure also at times and through the years.

We are a different breed, most of us, if like myself were born to support our club no matter what, no matter who owns us, the state of our ground ( which is a great ground, no matter what anyone says ), what division we are in, who the manager is and no matter how inferior we are supposed to feel in the shadow of the bigger clubs who surround us.

I support Oldham and i am proud of it, I am proud of Oldham as a place, is it a dump, maybe in parts, but so is everywhere else.  I live minutes from, the coast, Mountains and Lakes, it is nice yes, but I am also minutes away from dumps also.

And as nice as it is up here, I enjoy nothing more than driving around Saddleworth and other nice areas of Oldham, in fact driving all over Oldham fills me with great memories.

I then come home to Cumbria and its nice, thats all, its not Oldham and never will be. Always be proud of your roots !!!

Let people say what they will about our club and town, what do they know, its not in their heart like it is in ours. Just laugh at them they are just narrow minded.

So we should all get along for the greater good of our club, show AL how much this club means and stop fighting each other, we all have different opinions and thoughts, dont waste energy arguing on here, put that energy to good use, save it up over the summer and support the team with all your might in August.

The Chaddy used to suck goals in, i'm sure of it !!

As for KEEP THE FAITH, it is just 3 words, but they are what I chose to remember to stay positive, use what words do the same for you, please dont wince at the sight or sound of it though, I had great times keeping the faith !!

Thats it, have a beer or a glass of wine and remember we will have a great season.

    Another cracker.

At the end of the day we are like employees to an employer, I am just a number at work, its taken me a long time to come to terms with this, I am only told what I am wanted to know , nothing else....... if I push for information I may find my employer is less willing and communicates even less........... so I play the game....

I suppose as fans we are similar,,, we are just the fans, we pay to support our club, we are told certain things and certain things are kept in house, fans at times get angry and vent towards players, managers, chairmen, this never really ends well in the end......

I think we need to stop listening to certain rumors, accusations and gossip. They just promote a negativity which doesn't help. Ignore them and wait a few weeks, give the club chance to sort itself out because I'm sure like any business everything doesn't run swimmingly well 24/7.

We are a league 2 club now and we need to rebuild and the club does need to communicate better, yes but lets not put too much pressure on AL just yet.

This will be his first pre-season, lets see what he and the management team come up with, frustrating yes because we all want to know now,,,,

We have a right as paying fans to be communicated with I know this, but as I stated earlier, I feel as an employee at work I have a right to know certain things, I'm afraid life just doesn't work like that.

We will know when they decide we need to know, and what we need to be told i'm afraid.

So I will wait for any news of budgets, signings, lack of fuel for mowers and whether Jose has signed or not with excitement and anticipation. Until then I will enjoy summer as I said, drink some beers, go on Holiday and then look forward to being named league 2 champions at Prenton Park with the very last kick of the season.

Thats what I'm dreaming of next season, that's why I am an Oldham fan and not a Man City fan, its the excitement of dreaming big but knowing we could also achieve nothing.

You should come on here more often. More sense in those few posts of yours than we often get in dozens of others.

Keep it up, even if you're told to stop being sensible.

We've asked a right back to come in for pre-season and prove his fitness.

I'd have thought that was the last position we needed to look at unless one or two are off?

We've got Dummigan, Hunt and Hamer for right back (Wilson is gone). Hunt is (apparently) in demand and who knows whether Dummigan wants to play in D4?

Looking at it that way, it could have legs, this.
