Kalala leaves Latics

OLDHAM midfielder JP Kalala has joined League Two Grimsby on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Congo international had only recently returned after two months with the Mariners when he scored two goals in nine games to impress boss Mike Newell.

Kalala, who is out of contact in the summer, was transfer-listed by the Latics at the start of the season after failing to hold down a regular place. He had switched from Yeovil on a free in the close season of 2007.

Grimsby gave Kalala his first break in English fooball in 2005 after he left French club Nice.

On-loan striker Darren Byfield returns to League One Doncaster after completing his extended spell at Boundary Park and the double departure could free up siome cash for boss John Sheridan..

He is being linked with a move for Hull City’s veteran hitman Dean Windass, who is available on loan.

Sheridan insisted he had not made any move but admitted: “He is definitely the sort of player I would be interested in.”

He also revealed that he had made an initial inquiry for a left back.

Would that be the fact that as much as it would be entertaining, I dont remember Doncaster getting relegated at christmas....

As for the other dynamic... if Donny are interested in windycrapper, if they get him, would they be bothered about hughesy with both him and brooker on the books?

We will see...

Last I heard Windass was in talks with Ipswich? Seemed a bit of an odd one to me like.

And i'm chuffed Byfield's gone. Absolute waste of space.

Byfield won't have gone. Why would we terminate his spell when he can play tomorrow? Just poor editing.
