Lets do it Without there being a law the cricket authorities are starting to change. Of the MCC young cricketers to be sent to a special training course in India this winter 2 were female. Although mainly spin they had to net against proffesional male Indian fast bowlers and bowl to the likes of Ganguly. For the past 2 years the Lancashire cricket Academy has had Karen Cross as one of its students. Presumably as she cannot bat to her own bowling she has had to bowl at the lads. leeslover Posted February 19, 2009 Share Posted February 19, 2009 To turn the question on its head (assuming it isn't a really distasteful euphemism), how many 6'2", 14 stone blokes would feel comfortable putting in a full blooded tackle on a woman half their size? I don't think it would be the same as tackling a bloke who was smaller. Most lads who i've spoken to say they'd hate to play against women because it wouldn't feel like a level playing field and they wouldn't want to go near them because any tackle would look OTT. Having said that, i like the fact that you've all debated this seriously over 8 pages, whenever i've seen this debated on other boards it's usually just consisted of a page of jokes about swapping shirts. Speaking as a 6 foot 3 14 (and a bit ) stone bloke, that is spot on. I remember having a kick about with some girls from the Uni team back in the day. Granted it was evened up by the lads being slightly pissed and stoned, but we were playing a proper 5 aside match. There was one girl who was meant to be amongst the best players at Uni level, and sure enough she was very very skillful indeed, almost as good as half a Lordy . But if I'd had the heart I could have just knocked her off the ball, and if I'd hit her hard I would have broken bones, simple as that.
