GMR doesn't exist any more

The Messageboard is hosted by thr BBC, but the posts are not verified by them

Eardley and Taylor have NOT been put on the Transfer list, but the club is not in a financial situation where they are able to dismiss ANY bids out of hand

BBC GMR sports show said that the board had told Dave Penney that Taylor and Eardley were being put up for sale . Jimmy Wagg and Fred Eyre were discussing the effect the loss of these 2 players would have on the Latics next season. Yhis was a genuine story apparently and some Latics fans were calling in to speak to the presenters.

Taylor and Eardley sold so that owners can recoup their outlay prior to selling the club.

Main asset is then the land, which is now a slow burner to develop in the current economic climate.

Once Taylor and Eardley sold, the asking price for club can be dropped to entice a buyer who is either (A) intersted in well being of the club or (B) can afford to hold fire until land prices increase or economic climate allows development of the surrounding land.

Regardless of what's been said in local press and on the official site, the owners are keen to sell the club.

Giving that all the evidence points to the contrary, how do you know?

It wouldn't work quite that way. The land is owned "privately" in a separate company structure, which is in turn owned by the three amigos. So any deal to sell the club would be a separate deal to the land. (Of course they could sell both companies, but income for the land would not come back to the club).
