John Thompson

Just read an article where Thompson said he was grateful to Latics for getting him an operation to repair a longstanding Knee ligament injury he had been carrying from his Forest days. He broke down 7 times with the injury and was sidelined for 3 to 4 months each time, surely an injury record as bad as that should have been investigated more thoroughly before any contract was signed.

With Rob Purdie also reputedly arriving with a pelvic injury and yet to play a 1st team game you have to ask the question...Who the hell is it that carries out the medicals on behalf of our club!!

I also remember that Cart Horse from Rotherham , Chris Swailes.

We have been run like a pub team.

In fairness to Purdie, his previous injury record before he signed for us was excellent. In this case I blame the training that Penney was giving them, especially when more than one player succombed to the same injury.

Purdie came out and said he had the injury when he joined us (well for 13 or 15 months cant remember which)

but i do agree, that other plays got the same injury some how...

When Swailes did play though we had our best run of the season and he was superb. Shame he was knackered, but if he hadn't been no way would Shez have had to sign Gregan who many will only fully appreciate when he's no longer at the club.

Yes, but Oldham cannot afford players who sign-on and miss the first season of their contract.

Swailes missed the entire league campaign of his first year.
