This season, Trust Oldham and The Oldham Community Trust have been working on ideas on how we can offer something different to the Fan Experience.

Below is a self explanatory example of what we would like to offer. This is open to people of all ages, Young or Old.

This is a perfect momento for a fan to keep to remember their First Game.

More details to follow.....

Excellent idea.

Will it include the free tickets given out to schools? Getting those guys to come back and pay has always seemed to be a toughie. May be this would help cement a better feeling with the potential season ticket holders of the future?

Excellent Idea.

As always; if we can get them hooked early on; hopefully we keep them hooked & can look to stop them drifting away for the ‘delights’ of Man U and the like on Sky in their lounge chairs.

The big Owl plays a massive part IMO; a mate’s little daughter only wants to come to the games with her Dad if “Chabby (sic) the Owl will be there!”. It’s hardly the football that entertains them at that age; mascots and anything ‘kids entertainment-wise’ is the way to keep them interested; the football comes much later IMO.

I’d have loved something like this to record my first game; whilst it’s not rocket science; it’s something that can be kept; framed, displayed and treasured for sentimental reason for years to come. (way; way better than scruffy home program vs Oxford United in ‘89!!)

Agreed, a really nice idea, and a good way of providing a reminder that Latics are "their club".

Although you wonder whether it would have the desired effect if "my first game" happened to be a 5-0 drubbing

Deviating slightly from the main point of the topic, how can I find out which my own first game was? If I could find a list of historic Latics results and dates the games were played from the mid-late 70's I could work it out. It was against Wrexham on a dull weekday evening, but I can't remember the season or even the score for that matter (think it was 1-1 or 1-0) - I was pretty young and my main recollection of the night is my older mate going to get me a meat and potato pie.

Good idea.

My first game was back in the glory days - 6-2 vs Wimbledon. I thought it'd be that good every week but its been downhill ever since.

Hopefully PD/GT can get us some if not all the way back there.

Well we all thought it was a fab idea!!!

Reece loved it.......although he didn't have a clue what was going on he was loving the atmosphere :D

It'll be nice to show him when he's old enough to understand.

Thanks again for organising it Rich! X

They have large posters (i mean like, 10ft x 4ft type large) around the concourse at City with fans first game experiences. Done very cleverly with themes to match the mood highlighted by the fan. Looks great, something i havent seen before. Mind you, i'm not much of an away day fan these days...... Like your idea, just need a baby now. Oy, Alan.......?

Given Chaddy's response (2 occasions?) I would guess that someone forgot to tell the commercial/advertising department about this initiative.

I've been attending for over 40 years, brought my lads up on the Latics and now my grandkids but I've never once seen anything to promote this sort of idea - in fact, despite attending most of the games this season (missed one because of holiday), the only way I've got to know about this is via this forum.

Come on Latics - be proud of these initiatives - more positive promotion needed!

- and before anyone mentions the free shirts for kids idea from last season, that idea doesn't promote long-term interest. Whilst we are in the lower reaches of the football pyramid, it has to come from family progression as evidenced from the featured family. As I've said before on other occassions, my message to Alan Hardy & co is 'look after your existing supporters'.

Am glad it has gone down well with some

The idea's was wardlelatics, then both mysef and wardle worked towards the design that you see at the top of the thread.

We don't want to limit this initiative to just kids though, once my new copy of photoshop arrives I intend to modify it slightly and redesign a version for adults.

Just to point out, any money we do raise from this is going to the Boundary Blues/ Chaddys Gang.

Didn't have a clue what was going on on the pitch but at least we won!

Pardon me but this is crap.

Later gens of Latics fans have no connection with the past......I started in 61 Johnstone etc...I took my seat in the main stand at 12 noon for the Peterborough

game in 61.....made sure of my seat.... 24000 DIV 4 game......different world? I think the next season we had about 3 ..20k plus games. It was 1/- or1/6 in

1974 vs MAN U 28000..........PISSING DOWN...all those reds getting pnuemonia.........marvellous.

Then the greed took over..prices went up..........players got daft wages......not the same.

Now we have the knobs trying to stop FA cup replays.......why ?

Premiership agenda...

Magic of the cup is the little bloke going away and scraping the draw....take the big boy back to somewhere alien..muddy sloping pitch..Tuesday afternoon (golf day for big superstar)....and by effort and guts to kick the big boy out. That is the FA cup....always has been..take that away and the game has finally died in this country. SKY are the death of the game in this country..
