mikejh45
Assuming we will still be at BP for another couple of years, we won't be the only club with a 3 sided ground as I'm putting together a price for a new stadium at Southend only there won't have a main stand. And they are going to have a welcoming sight of a Portakabin village of ticket office, changing rooms, showers and boardroom and a 20 yard run into the ground......ALL paid for by Sainsburys. Diego_Sideburns
A three-sided stadium is nothing new. Northampton Town joined Northamptonshire at The County Ground in 1897 and played in a small three-sided ground for 97 years. The pitch was the longest in the league at 120 yards and reputedly the most uneven due to car parking during the cricket season. The kop behind the goal didn't run the full width of the pitch. The ground held 24,500 for a match in 1965, during the club’s only season in the top flight, Cricket was also played at Bramall Lane, Sheffield for 118 years, including a test match versus Australia in 1902, with United playing in a three-sided ground. Wouldn't have been left at 3 sides if they had our fans moaning at them!!!

I'm impressed with your memory, DS; you must only have been a nipper then.
