The midfield is too rigid yes

2 options to solve this

Option 1

Tell the wingers to wander inside. Get the wingers to come inside and drift into the space between the strikers Montano and croft coming inside will give the opposition full backs a serious dilema do we follow them inside to mark the winger and leave a gapping hole for an overlapping full backs to exploit. Or do they let them go and potentially leave them free infront of goal where they can be a goal threat. We still have width from the full backs and the wingers can get more goals so far Montano and Croft have so far contributed 1 goal between them in the league which isn't enough and its not like they are getting too many assists either if we had a player like Kuqi, Porter, or even an Abbott who want crosses into the box to them then tell them to stay wide and get the ball in but we dont, and we won't get caught on the counter attack as Furman and Wes are sitting covering the full backs.

Alternatively

Option 2

We can stay as we are but encourage 1 of the midfielders to push on. Dean Furman has shown in the past he is capable of scoring goals and can shoot so tell him to be that box to box midfielder and get into the oppositions box and go beyond the strikers and get goals and if Wes is sitting then we still have that option.

Either alterations would be beneficial to the team and we have the personnell to make this happen Personally I would go with option 1 as it would be harder for the opposition to play against and would pull their players out of position.

I'd rather not have Option 2, Furman last night showed exactly why he's a holding midfielder; couldn't complete a forward pass in their half.

Option 1, please but with higher pressing from Wes and Furman.

Alternatively, we could use the system that we used when we actually played well. Preston, Crewe, Leyton Orient, Sheffield United, Crawley.

I think against Preston thats how we played with Croft and Montano drifting inside look where Montano is for his goal and Grounds and Warbara pushed on and overlapped.

People got hung up last season on this idea on wingers should just be wingers and full backs should just be full backs loads of people on here suggested we took that idea on (which if we are taking on tactical advise from this board I'm slightly disturbed) and it has lead to what we have so far seen this season which is a lack of fluidity.
