Cllr McMahon

Recommended Posts

There's a piece in the Chron today saying McMahon was at the game yesterday and until then had never 'got football'. He's said now he does and recognises the good it can do for the town with good publicity that you can't buy. He says the Council will 'do everything they can' to make the stand happen and he'll be back for Everton.

Will wait and see, but the club didn't do themselves any harm putting the town all over the news for the right reasons for once.

Very nice for him, will he be there when we play Yeovil ?

Would it be a good idea to have McMahon or other important council people at every match?

We need to be as close as possible to them & they should, arguably, be more involved with the towns most high profile organisation.

The Saddleworth Clog Dancers' Guild?

He's alright, i've met him a couple of times - of course you can't trust a politician but he seemed like a genuine enough bloke.

Also seems keen on re-generating the town (Tram, new sporting and leisure facilities, town hall re-development) - he's doing more than the last 20 years worth of councils put together.

That's all well and good, but as an elected representative, he shouldn't need to see us beating Liverpool to recognise the good an even moderately successful football club can do for the town.

Hope he comes back for some league games.

Rather than voting by party, I'm going to start asking local candidates if they "get football".
