"Chairman Simon Corney is yet to appoint Dickov’s successor and although former boss Iain Dowie and new favourite Sammy Lee have both been strongly linked with a return to Boundary Park, Corney told M.E.N. Sport that he has not yet offered the job to anyone. He is in New York on business until next week so hasn’t begun interviewing yet."

Yet, on the 6th of February, we had this...

"Corney, who has received more than 60 applications for the job since Dickov’s departure, is hopeful of appointing a new manager before Oldham, who sit one point and one place above the relegation zone, play Everton in the FA Cup fifth round on February 16. But he hasn’t given up hope of unveiling the new man before MK Dons visit Boundary Park on Saturday.

Corney said: “We have received an awful lot of applications for the job and it has been quite humbling to see some of the names who have expressed an interest.

“I would certainly expect a manager to be in place in time for the FA Cup tie against Everton next week and, hopefully, the issue may be resolved before the game against MK Dons this weekend."

and on Dowie, this...

"Corney added: “Iain and I are good friends and we speak on a regular basis, but the club has time to make the right appointment.”

Smoke and bloody mirrors!
