Nice write up on official site remembering  the late great Alan Groves . Brings back so many memories , I even remember the picture shown on the back of the chron . Was a young lad then going home and away missing very few games great time to be a latics fan back then . Great the club have taken the time to do things like this ,

What a talented lad he was. So tricky, and a proper entertainer. Every team we played, tried to kick him up in the air. Problem for them was, they had to catch him first.

Tragic that he died still as a very young man. But what a player he was.

I just wondered if your user ID came from Penrhyn Avenue, Alkrington? I grew up in Conway Close opposite.

Great player.A real crowd pleaser whom I'm glad to have seen him play for us.I recall him playing here for Shrewsbury and being amazed. Him and Les Chapman had a  mens fashion  shop on Hollins Road which was where i went to  a lot.
