September - out of 12

Recommended Posts

So after Saturday and tonight, the results and the performances combined, you'd want us to kick on now, win 3 from 4 and get right back in the mix. A run of easy looking games would just be the key. Just had a look and they couldn't be much worse.

Top of the league Saturday (although as I read elsewhere on here, you can't help but think it's still just Shrewsbury ), then trips to Rotherham who seem to be finding their grove and Portsmouth. With Peterborough at home on a Tuesday night.

Think if we're going to have a 'good' season the two home games are key. We really need to be winning 3 out of 4 to try and get back in the mix. The 2 home games do look winnable in a way, we have a nack of doing well against the 'top of the league' sides at home, and Shrewsbury are due a defeat. Peterborough on a Tuesday in the rain is a game we'd need to be winning. The two away's look tough, but with this team who knows.

Think 7 points would just about be ok. 9 would be great. Could easily end up with 1-3 though.

Looking further afield, if we can get 7 and have an average October, on paper our run in November and December looks very very good, especially if we've hit form.

HOME

Rochdale

Wimbledon

Northampton

Bristol Rovers
Fleetwood

AWAY

Southend
Gillingham

Plymouth

Doncaster

All 5 home games would be winnable against very standard League One teams. Again the away games aren't exactly against top end teams (Charlton, Wigan, Rotherham, Blackburn etc) and they're grounds we've a cracking recent record at I think. (Definitely Southend and Gillingham, remember a couple of wins at Plymouth, don't think Doncaster is great but nor is it a bogey ground)

Lets just look forward to Saturday eh, there's only 123 of our fans seen us win a game this season after nine attempts.

Record this year says otherwise. Despite last seasons efforts they're not exactly Terry and Rio and are playing bottom end of League One for a reason.

Even the best need coaching.

Last season Ripley saved a very high percentage of shots, more of those shots are resulting in goals so far this season, no big riddle.

You've got to love this breed of Oldham fan. We've won one game all season, and now we're expected to get 'back in the mix' with 3 wins from 4 games. When were we ever in the mix?

Up next - shitty table topping Shrewsbury. Guaranteed 3 points because we are Oldham, super Oldham.

Calm down.

You've got to love this breed of Oldham fan that reads another persons post and twists into nothing like what was said...

I believe the original poster actually said "We really need to be winning 3 out of 4 to try and get back in the mix."

If we took 9 out of the next 12 points...we would almost certainly be up near to the right end of the table (probably in the top 10, pushing for top 6.)

Not for a second did the original poster say he/she expected that.

Exactly.

Not only that, but also then assume that everyone that goes on this board then agreess with the point being made.

Well we just about got 6 points in September. Started October more than 'average' At the moment you feel as though we can win every game, although 2 wins from the next 4 would suffice as average. Then we hit November and the start of the above run.

This run starts very very soon. 6 of the bottom 7. Rest are bottom half bar Fleetwood who are 11th.

Jesus. I know we usually don't do well against the 'poorer' sides, but it's some run if we can be normal and win the 'easier' games.

Great great chance for Wellens and the squad to get something special brewing for the New Year ....
