  1. Of all the things I've ever read on OWTB, this one disturbs me the most!
  2. I have a few mascot photographs that have never been collected from the club shop. Are the parents on OWTB or do you know their parents? I would really like these kids to get their photographs from the day they were mascot! Jamie Burrows - Huddersfield Town away 3/01/2009 Isobel Hurst - Swansea home Adam Crossman - Yeovil home 16/02/2008 Joe McCauley - Leicester City home 18/08/2008 I also have the following with no names on! Leeds Utd home game when we wore the pink kit. The mascot is a little boy who chose Chris Taylor to have his photo taken with. Tranmere away. The mascot is a little boy who had his photo taken with Andy Liddell, they wore the yellow kit, Gregan was captain and Crossley was in goal. If you can help get these photos to the children they belong to, please let me know. Thanks Lisa
  3. Yes that still happens at the Christmas Party and the End of Season Party. The mascots for the first half of the following season are picked out at the end of season party and the ones for the second half of the season are picked out at the Christmas party. Unfortunately, the numbers have dwindled a little since the Royton Assembly Hall days but the kids are still very exited when it comes to mascot picking time!!! For the away games or cup games we just see who is interested in being the mascot and then pick a name randomly from those who contact us but we try and make it so that most kids get a chance to be a mascot for at least one home game whilst they are members of BB. Occasionally we get special requests from people but we always point out that all members should get the chance and they will have even more of a chance if they attend parties!!! We have a bit more flexibility when it comes to away games at deciding who the mascot will be but at the same time we have to stick by the rules set by the home club.
  4. It's because each club has their own rules and they all seem to be different! For instance at Oldham it's 6-16, Plymouth is 5-14 and Swindon is 5-16.
  5. I'm after mascots for the follwing games if anybody is interested! 1) Peterborough away, 11th Sept, mascot must be a member of Boundary Blues and be aged 4-13. One adult can accompany the mascot and both the adult and the mascot must have tickets for the match or be willing to buy one on the day! My deadline for this is 27th August. 2) Sheff Wednesday away, 28th Sept, mascot must be a member of Boundary Blues and be aged 6-12. One adult can accompany the mascot and both the adult and the mascot must have tickets for the match. My deadline for this one is 19th August. 3) Southampton away, 23rd October, mascot must be a member of Boundary Blues and be aged 6-16. One adult can accompany the mascot and both the adult and the mascot must have tickets for the match and you must arrive 2 hours before kick off. My deadline for this one is 30th September. Also, if any children are interested in being a mascot for the home game against Shrewsbury in the JPT please can you let me know. Thanks Lisa
  6. If you still need to pick up a season ticket or membership card for Boundary Blues and intend on picking it up tomorrow, please do it before 2.45pm!! They need to be picked up from the club shop, not the ticket office. Any renewals / new season tickets taken to the club this week will be available to pick up from 1.30pm onwards tomorrow. Thanks Lisa
  7. A couple of weeks ago, Boundary Blues asked member Matthew Crowe to interview Paul Dickov for our newsletter. I thought OWTB members might find the interview interesting and so have posted it below! A big thanks to Matthew for his questions and to the gaffer who was great with him, even let him sit in the manager's chair in his office!! Matthew: Was Oldham your first choice to manage? Paul: It’s a great choice for me, it’s the first job that I went for as a manger. When I initially went for it, I just went along for the experience of doing it and the next thing, they offered me the job, and it’s great!! Matthew: Are you happy about managing Oldham? Paul: I’m delighted to finish playing and go straight into a managers job, especially at League 1 level and a club like Oldham. I regard Oldham as a proper football club, it’s a great grounding for me and a great experience for me. I can’t thank the board and the owners enough for appointing me. Matthew: When you were younger, who did you support? Paul: I was a Celtic supporter and when I was 12 I came down to Oldham on trial, I also went to Arsenal and Man City as well. If I hadn’t have chosen Arsenal, I probably would’ve come to Oldham. Matthew: In your career, what was your favourite goal? Paul: It’s got to be the Man City goal against Gillingham at Wembley for lots of reasons. For the chance to play at Wembley and score, the fact that the goal was maybe the most important goal Man City have scored because if they hadn’t have got promoted that day the club could well have gone out of business. Matthew: Who was your favourite strike partner to play with? Paul: I’ve been very lucky to play with a lot:- Shaun Goater at Man City, Brian Deane and Les Ferdinand at Leicester. If I’ve got to pick one, including training and playing the few games I did at Arsenal, it would be Dennis Bergkamp. Matthew: Do you play Fifa 10 and if you do, do you play as yourself and do you manage Oldham? Paul: My two boys play Fifa 10 and I try and join in but I only last about 30 seconds because I’m about 4-0 down by then, I’m useless at it. Matthew: Who do your children support? Paul: I have 3 children, Lauren (13), Sam (10) and Max (8). Max makes everybody laugh because they ask who he supports and he says “everybody my dad has played for” which is about 12 clubs!! At the minute they are Man City fans but they are being converted into Oldham fans as you can see. (Both Max and Sam had Oldham kits on at the time!) Matthew: Who was your favourite manager in your career? Paul: I’ve been very lucky that all the managers I’ve played under, I’ve always got on well with. Different managers for different reasons, Joe Royle at Man City, George Graham at Arsenal, Mark Hughes and Graham Souness, I couldn’t pick out a favourite one. Matthew: Who was the hardest defender you played against? Paul: Gerry Taggart. I used to play against him in training everyday! Apart from Gerry, it would be Jonathan Woodgate when he first started out at Leeds before he had lots of injuries. (We should point out that Gerry Taggart was in the room at the time!) Matthew: Who was the best player you played against? Paul: I was very lucky at Arsenal, I got to play against Paulo Mandini for 10 minutes, it was just fantastic! Matthew: What advice would you give a young player like me? I am a winger. Paul: The advice I give to young players now is to work as hard as you can all the time and enjoy playing football because it’s the best job in the world! For your chance to interview a VIP from the club, email your name to Boundary.Blues@gmail.com or contact Lisa through OWTB.
  8. Thanks for the help everyone, I think I have it sorted now!! Ian - I am waiting for a new certificate to arrive for Joseph. When it comes I'll let you know.
  9. We're having issues getting some things printed because the version of the logo I have is not high resolution. Can anyone help? I have a copy of the logo as a jpg and an eps file but how do I get a really good version of it?!!
  10. Whereabouts do you sit Ian? I will come and find you and bring you a membership form. Lisa
  11. Tranmere are not participating in the ticket exchange programme for this season and therefore we will not be running a coach trip to them. We can however, take a mascot. If any Boundary Blues members are interested in being a mascot at Tranmere please can you let me know before this Friday and I will let you know the contact details etc. Thanks! Lisa
  12. There will be fruit based items for sale. Maybe, for example, pear drops, apple and strawberry flavour lollies, rhubarb and custards, vimto etc.
  13. We won't be charging a fortune! For comparison, when we had a tuck shop in the Lookers a few years ago, the prices were as follows:- Mars 40p Twix 40p Chomp 15p Small bags of Haribo 10p Lollies / drumstick lollies 5p Small bottles of lemonade/orange 20p :-)
  14. thanks Jacko. A couple of others have asked too so I'll let you know Lisa
  15. I need 2 Boundary Blues members to come with me to interview Paul Dickov, it will probably be next Tuesday or Wednesday, after school. We are going to ask him some questions and then I'll put a piece together for the next Boundary Blues newsletter. Any volunteers?!
  16. Does anyone have the fixtures in excel that they can send to me please?!! Just being lazy and it'd save me having to type them all out! thanks
  17. As far as I am aware nursery is irrelevant. I was offered a place for my daughter at a nursery attached to a school but the school told me that it didn't make any difference when is came to allocating the actual school places. So, I turned the nursery place down and kept her at the private nursery she was already attending. The school I wanted her to go to is a few miles from our house, however, she got in there no problem. That was 2 years ago and now the places are hard to get, purely because of a change in headteacher. Visit the school, look at the Ofsted reports but don't base your decision entirely on those. I viewed one school, loved it and never wanted her to go anywhere else!
  18. Tell your little 'un that he can be one of the first to have his photo taken with the new management team of Lee Duxbury and Martin Gray :-) Also, we'll be doing the draw for mascots for the first half of next season so your little'un might get pulled out of the hat to be mascot against Rochdale on the first day of the season!!!
  19. I don't know for definate which players will be there, there is normally a good selection and at least 14 turn up. At the Christmas party just gone, Dave P insisted that the whole of the first team squad came!
  20. We understand that some people will find it difficult to get down to BP in the next few days to buy tickets for the Boundary Blues party so we have decided that you can now pay on the door, however, for catering purposes we really need to know how many people are coming! If you plan to turn up on the night, please can you reply here or send me a pm so I can order you a sausage roll and add any children to the mascot draw. There is going to be a mini football tournament and the children will be paired up with a player in a team with prizes for the winners. Also, get your brain in gear as the children will be able to ask questions to the players and management Don't forget, children do not have to be members of Boundary Blues to attend the party! Thursday 6th May, 7pm - 9pm at North Chadderton Bowling club, £6 members, £7.50 non-members.
  21. BUMP Just to make sure you all know the party is not tonight, it is Thursday night, 7-9pm at North Chadderton bowling club off the top of Broadway. Thanks
  22. Once again, I apologise for the late change in venue and date but as I mentioned before it was something completely beyond the control of Boundary Blues. The party will now take place at North Chadderton Bowling Club (just off Elk Mill roundabout) and will be on Thursday 6th May at 7pm until 9pm. Ticket prices are £6.00 for members and £7.50 for non-members, any children can come, you don't have to be a Boundary Blues member. The ticket price includes food. There will be chance to get autographs and have photos with players, so make sure you bring autograph books, footballs, shirts whatever you want but we ask that each child only brings one thing each as otherwise it takes a long time!!! We will also be holding a raffle and doing the mascot draw for the home games for the first half of next season. There will be a question and answer session too so get your thinking caps on for good questions!! Tickets are available in the club shop :-) Thanks!!
  23. Due to unforseen circumstances, beyond the control of Boundary Blues, the party has had to be changed from the original date and venue to Thursday 6th May at North Chadderton Bowling Club. Also, the time will now be 7pm until 9pm. Final details will be confirmed tomorrow as I am waiting for a phone call tomorrow. I apologise for the change.
  24. This season, we have run 4 away trips. Bristol, Brighton, Stockport and Huddersfield. The cost of coach travel plus match tickets for all four games, add up as follows under 13s £87 under 16s £99 adults £ 136 So adult plus u13 = £223, adult plus u16 = £235 The cost of coach travel and match tickets for these games with Boundary Blues was as follows Boundary Blues members £51 Non-members (parents) £90 Boundary Blues member plus a parent = £141 Just pointing out what good value being a Boundary Blues member is!!!
