  1. I love the whole "I've not heard of him so he must be :censored:" argument. Probably similar was said about Connor Wilkinson, now most would have him in their 1st choice 11.
  2. If we hadn't have signed anyone to cover the full backs mssing Corney would have been accused of giving up on the season and using the cheap option.
  3. Although I'm not convinced he will get to 10 games, it's a good value bet - we'll have done those 7 games in 25 days. Stuck a bit on.
  4. Left back emergency cover rather than planning for rest of season by the looks of it.
  5. Again I agree! There was effort and there was frustration with the ref and they looked gutted at the end. We just got it all wrong tactically in the 2nd half.
  6. Agree with this. We lost it at half time. That wind looked like a nightmare to play into and we should have taken that into account and put them under pressure like they did us. Getting in at half time 1 up was a great result in those conditions. 2nd half we could have tried balls over the top into the channels for the pace of forte and poleon but instead we sat back and protected the lead and invited them on. Really disappointing. Must say that Wilkinson is a very lucky boy. Can't believe he didn't get sent off for that gesture to the ref.
  7. I'm surprised there's no mention in the betting anywhere about Micky Mellon, seeing as he was named by the Chron in the Bogarde article.
  8. Coin operated booths in the back. Everyone's a winner.
  9. Silly because people would rather watch Stoke vs Crystal Palace than Ritchie taking arsenal to pieces?
  10. For me it's just a Latics themed bar. Not sure if that's the general thinking mind. A suggestion I put in the survey was rather than showing the early prem kick off game on screens before our game, show a classic latics match in full instead. Get everyone in there spending and getting all geed up.
  11. No idea, never met him. I'd guess he probably doesn't have a 100 day dossier prepared but we have a team of people scouting opposition and a lot of data available to whoever the new manager is.
  12. Personally I'd go for the short term thing given our position. Eg, my pick would be Dowie and I'd say come in on a contract til the end of the season, play off bonus, promotion bonus, then sit down again at the end of the season and see if it's the right thing for both parties going forward. Amazingly we're still in with a great shout of the play offs if (and that's a big if) we can turn the form around very quickly.
  13. I'd say 300 against the scots on that pitch against that attack was a bad score. It's not just the totals, it's the attitude. No one does the Pietersen job of charging and getting on top of bowlers except when they've got 80 off 90 balls. It looked easy for england to get 300 today, they coasted. So there was no fear for SL. But it's nothing new, it's been this way forever.
  14. We're such a boring odi team. No aggression or invention. Lacking in confidence. It's like they see 300 as job done no matter what the opposition or circumstances. When teams were getting 300s, we were getting 250s. Now teams are getting 350s and we're getting 300s. We're always years behind the game. Painfully predictable!
  15. When I said motivator I was thinking Dowie. Holden has come across well and in different circumstances Id be ok with him being given the rest of the season. But id rather have someone from the outside to try and boost everyone. Dowie would be my choice to come in and galvanise the squad and fans. Whether he'd even be interested or affordable i have no idea.
  16. Probably 6 of those missing today would have started. This season was always going to be about getting lucky with injuries. Can't blame Holden but we need to appoint a personality and motivator as soon as possible. If we get players back and someone to boost them then you never know.
  17. How many have left or been poached due to lack of chances and thrived elsewhere? How many have thrived when out on loan?
  18. Excellent read and sums up my feelings on it all perfectly.
