  1. There are a few things I don't get about people being happy we lost... 1. We lost! How can that be a good thing? 2. After 20 years in the same division with hardly anything to get excited about how can we get snobby about a day out at Wembley in the 'wrong' competition? 3. We have a big squad and no reserve team, the JPT is the ideal place for the fringe players to get game time and try and show form.
  2. I'd rather have a club with a winning mentality and squad players who stake a claim for a run in the side with good performances when given a start.
  3. I'm sure those with reliable club sources who seem to know all the financial ins and outs will be keeping us posted on that score!
  4. I'm not sure what Darren Kelly could have said really other than we want to play attacking football and are working on it in training. What else is there to say? But for Barry to not be able to field the obvious stand question was ridiculous. They shouldn't have been on the show at all if it's still an open ended thing.
  5. It's like a monty python sketch. "Supporter since George Hardwick? Pah, luxury. I've been a season ticket holder since we were runner up in 1915. Darren, why aren't we signing a striker?"
  6. God forbid anyone should try and encourage a young Latics player in a home match. Kelly wanting to make Boundary Park a fortress? :censored:ing no chance.
  7. There's nothing wrong with the tactic if there's plenty of support from those behind.
  8. Croft isn't a striker though. Just watched the highlights and he really should have scored last night, but the way that some others are talking on here you'd think the ball was going in and Croft whacked it out for a throw. It just looks like he was trying to be a bit clever and put it back where the keeper came from. He took the wrong option. I don't think his industry should be overlooked. He's got history of creating a lot of chances and in the last couple of games we've not had our main striker and the focal point of our tactics. For me the priority is to have Dunn in the side asap. And with him in we probably need Croft's tracking/running etc rather than Winchester. Winchester on the bench - shows we have great strength in depth in midfield.
  9. 1 goal against in 3. Not bad considering defence was the major pre season worry.
  10. Calm down mate, I'm just trying to see how we can get all our ducks in a row.
  11. Good on the club for reaching out of sorts but would this be a good one for the trust to take the lead on? Have an open meeting where all issues regarding 'matchday experience' are raised then present them to the club and work with them for a solution. Might be more effective than this guy getting 100 emails about running out of pies.
  12. You should have a word with the football league. According to them we're 6th and unbeaten. Someone's obviously got the table completely wrong.
  13. Is Winchester up to the physical side of being a full back? Tackling/tracking back/blocking etc
  14. I'm curious, what do you get out people replying? Was thinking of going out for a pint tonight but might stay in and do some trolling instead. Looks quality.
  15. Agree about going for it. Nothing would boost confidence more than a win on Wednesday at this stage of the season. Forte only played 30 mins on Saturday so the talk of 3 games in a week isn't quite right. If you want to be cautious play him for an hour but he's got to start for me. Forte for Turner would be my only change.
  16. I think you're being a bit generous there! The bit I quoted said they presumed that because the interviews weren't great it'd be the same with the players. I disagreed. I'm a decent communicator at work and with friends, but stick a camera in front of me and I'm not as comfortable. Kelly will have spent his life on football pitches and in dressing rooms, and given the level he played at probably hardly any media work. So I don't think you can make any comparison between his interviews and what he might be like with the players.
  17. Seriously? You don't think it's possible that how he comes across on camera, where fans are looking for hidden meaning in every raised eyebrow, could be different to how he comes across in the privacy of the dressing room or training ground?!
  18. Exactly. It's a low cost, low risk deal for the club no doubt. It might not work, but then again it might work and we might see a raft of Liam Kelly style apology posts.
