  1. Leicester have been given the large part of the RRE, home fans to be transferred to the small part. I'll be amazed if Leicester bring more than 1,600!

Leicester Get Large Section of RRE

I think you will be amazed then! This club get well over 20,000 at home, it's still early in the season, and they are doing fairly well. They will probably bring over 2,000.

I'm not sure about Huddersfield though, they have had a very poor start, and may not bring more than 1600, and they have also been given the large section.

  2. The way i see it is that they should just give a block to those who want to sing, or half whatever ... then if they stand up whilst singing it causes no-one a problem, i understand authorities outside of the club wont allow them to stand for the full game but IMO those in charge are making more trouble for themselves and soon itll boil over.

Take Rochdale for example ... there stewarding was IMO spot on, they allowed the far left blocks to stand and create the atmosphere, they didnt wade in and tell everyone to sit down ... the people stood up, got behind the team and didnt harm anyone ... no-ones view was blocked as it was the end block and the top half of the second. Just my opinion anyway.

Why don't the people who want to stand, go to the back of the stand where they bare blocking no-ones view.

  3. and when we played bournemouth away not so long ago, didnt the linesman flag for offside or a free kick for one of their goals and the ref overruled him

unless this is a new thing that has come out this season where refs cant over rule assistant referees

Refs aere in charge, and can over rule anyone.

  4. Of course we are nowhere near as good, but we have the similar ability that side had in grinding out results away from home. Actually maybe comparisons with the Championship side on any level are a little premature, perhaps this team is more akin to Dowie's side in 02/03. A big squad with plaenty of options to mix it up if need be and goals hopefully from all areas. Anyhow we've got through the first 5 unbeaten. Let's see what we can do in the next 5............3 of them at home vs Mongs, Hudds and Hereford.

What I have liked so far, is the fact that we are playing in the oppositions half, and pushing them back at the end of a game. Rather than dropping back trying to defend, which only gives teams more confidence to pile everyone forward and grab a late goal.

  5. SUNsssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeee,and showers tomorrow,

Should be o.k,but the locals have the better view :)

All depends on how well the pitch drains. I don't recall them having problems in the past, so should be OK, unless we get an absolute downpour tomorrow lunchtime, which I don't think is forecast.

  6. not sure if ive aired this on here before so sorry if i have. i believe 'the moat' causes more 'trouble' than it stops, for the simple reason that it prevents the supporters reaching each other. i understand why it was put there, it was built when we punched above our weight in all aspects. but as has been said before most grounds have a bit of plastic and a plastic copper, which is easily breached by anyone intent on doing so but very rarely occurs. we have the moat which protects the spotty 15 year old who wants to 'charge the away fans' full in the knowledge they have zero chance of doing so, but they (believe they) look hard in front of their mates. i think this is being blown out of all proportion if fans leaning over a fence waving their arms is 'trouble'. but the fact they dont get put on their backside doesnt put them back in their box and then they get braver and chuck a coin. meshing probably wont stop it. its a fine line, i say. a fine line. will stop eventually when the coppers have a few tapes of them leaning over a fence with an angry look on their face, and can apply for a banning order.

I saw the Chelsea v Spurs game on MOD. Now these two sides are arch enemies, and Chelsea fans have a name for hooliganism. All that devided the fans, was one seat with a steward sat in it from front to back.

  7. it's some sort of good news if it's not the same injury. However what it does show for me is that Hughsey will be stop start with injuries. It was more than a twinge cos we spotted he was in trouble straight away and he was struggling with it.

Just as I backed him to be the divisions leading scorer this season. Each way of course, as long as he's in the top 4 I win, odds were 18/1 with Totesport.

  8. Know there's already been a thread on this but can't find it ...

6 of the players who have played most games have to start 2nite ... if we agree this means that 6 of the starting line-up that played the last 3 games will play 2nite - wot do we think the team will be ????

    Fleming

    Eardley* Reubs* Stam Lomax*

    Smalley Maher Whittaker* Taylor*

    Lewis* Davies :redcard:

would like to see Lee start but that would mean either Allott in for Maher OR Hughesy in for Davies

    Unsure wot will happen

The fact that Taylor cannot be rested is a problem for me. He should get a rest tonight, but who would replace him?

  9. Daniel Levy would not report United to the FA, he would just threaten them with it to get a better deal for Spurs. He did it with the Robbie Keane transfer, Liverpool paid an extra £2m so that Spurs would not report them.

That's exactly what has happened. Instead of paying £28m which Spurs wanted. Utd have paid £30.75m, and Levy has agreed not to take any action.

  10. Glad we've not done any panic buying as there was no need. We have a good squad and a first eleven to match anything in this league.

I we can get Kalala and Thompson out on long term loans and maybe Wolfenden then it will give us scope to take Phillips for a season.

Looks like Richie Byrne will probably sign a contract as he's unattached and that gives us cover for Lomax and central defence.

I reckon it's looking real rosy and this team can get better and better...Bring on Tranmoore!!!!!

I don't think we can take Phillips on loan for the rest of the season now. Isn't it emergency loans only, which we don't qualify for, or am I wrong?

  11. With todays news of an Arab takeover of Manchester City, perhaps it's the right time to renegotiate the Micah Richards sell on clause.

I can't see Richards going anywhere in the next few years so perhaps a compromise settlement can be reached, maybe £2 million, what do you think ?

I think City hold all the aces now. We are in a weak position because they no longer need the money and probably won't be interested in negotiation. Why should they just handover £1m, £2m or £3m for nothing? We are better off hanging on as he will probably agree to an extension to his contract, and in the next few years may fancy playing abroad.

  12. Agree with everything said in this thread.

Was like watching England tonight. A manager trying to fit three central midfielders in the team and playing with one man up front. O'Grady was getting a bit of stick but at the end of the day he's not gonna come out on top against two big centre halves. He did all he could.

It says it all about this cup, a league 1 manager playing his reserves. He was kidding himself if he thought that team could go and get a result. Abysmal is an understatement. Burnley there for the taking, chance of a Prem team in the next round, but Shez gets a tad too clever.

    E4e

    VPOOR

This cup can be a money spinner, and Shez should have gone all out to win the game with a full strength team, as far as possible. Shez got too clever tonight thinking he could use squad players and get a result at a Championship ground. There's a big difference in class. Draw a Prem team at home and there's a good chance of TV money.

  13. John,

The last figures I had for those outlets in Spindles, which admittedly was 7 or 8 years ago, was that the smallest unit had a rental of £30,000 per year, then you have business rates, fitout and staffing costs, so you are probably looking at around £80-£90K a year.

Somehow, I don't think it is going to happen certainly within Spindles.

    Cheers,

    Harry

Obviously that's out of the question. How about approaching JD, or any other appropriate kind of shop, and asking for a small corner of their shop, to sell club merchandise and possibly tickets. It could be an advantage to them as they would get an increase in footfall through their shop, particularily if things pick up for the club. I understand that there could be problems with queues, but surely something could be agreed.

  14. I feel for TTA's and can understand Simon Corneys dismay, however, you need only look at some of the other attendances in our division on Saturday to see it's not just us. It is, after all, a bank holiday weekend. Lots of people are away or doing other things for the weekend and speaking personally, I find the long school holiday period more expensive than when the kids are in school.

    Scunthorpe.......Att. 4,717

    Northampton.....Att. 4,402

    Leyton Orient....Att. 3,803

    Hartlepool Utd...Att. 3,945

    Crewe Alex.......Att. 4,160

    Some very poor attendances.

I will be eternally grateful to TTA's for what they have done/are doing for us and I hope they will give it until at least the January transfer window before they consider selling anyone. (Assuming attendances don't improve).

    Here's hoping.

Yes but all these clubs except Orient are in small towns. We have a catchment area of 250,000. They are not all unable to pay £20. Surely we should be able to get at least another 2000 of them to turn up. A town the size of Oldham should be attracting 10000 fans. Perhaps the club should employ a PR agency to try and come up with some ideas to attract people.

  15. a steward came over to josh saying he has to go and sit in the middle of the rocky road end then another stewrad came over and said he is ok to stay where he was, then another steward said he had to go in the middle or the drum wil be taken off him till end of the game.

they never gave a reason they just said that they have been told he has to move.

Seems to me that everyone who has a complaint about the stewards, must either ring in or send emails to AH to complain bitterly about their behaviour. They have clearly been told by their boss to clamp down, and are overstepping the mark. I guess this is what happens when you get a few jumped up people with no kind of common sense. The blame has to lie with the chief steward, or manager. He should be dragged into the club to explain why so many complaints are being made.

Many Premiership grounds have home and away fans sitting in the same stand, with just netting over a few seats. Never seems to be any trouble.

  16. I know many on here have no time for Liddle - but again yesterday he gave his all and his experience in the game and assistance to the younger lads proved he is worthy of his position still. Thought the team looked like a team yesterday! a team of guys who worked for each other...great to see.]

Could it be because he now has real competition for his place? He may also realise that it could be his last season, so he wants to go out with another promotion under his belt.

  17. kieron lee.....

whats crofty doing at norwich??? not a lot i think...maybe worth a punt on a half or full season loan,be perfect foil for taylor.....

    Croftys a right winger!

We still need Phillips and a left back. Hopefully we'll be able to offload JP, and send a couple of the lads out on loan to cover the cost.

  18. When talking about Hughesy, you're not talking about the average player in the football league. There's numerous factors which we ourselves would have had to take on board before approaching him. Such as how the fans would react given his past. That would rule the majority of clubs in the football league from making a bid for him alone. Add to that he'll probably be on a half decent wage and the field of potential clubs who would actually make a move for him if they ever wanted to would be very small.

Not to mention that Hughesy has already mentioned in the past how greatful he is for the club for giving him a chance, how well the fans have taken to him - do you really think if someone ever did come in for him, he'd jump ship llike the average player with no baggage behind him would.

People are harping on about Hughes being a class above at this level, which he is, but seriously how many championship clubs would want to take him with all his baggage (even if he may be good enough) when they can afford a young prospect from this league, or snap an ageing premiership player quite easily.

Year to Year contract and I think we've got Hughesy for as long as we want him. I dont think there's any rush at the moment to sort his contract out just yet.

I really don't think that it would put many of them off. Other fans were lambasting us when we signed him, but had their club signed him, the reaction from our fans would have been the same as there's was, and there's would have been the same as ours (except Coventry). I am pretty sure that Walsall also offered him a deal when he came to us.
