"Even at our level deals don't happen overnight, they take a bit of time, and somehow we managed to keep it quiet, which is difficult in this day and age. There's always a lot of speculation. At every club I've been at word has always got out about who you might be chasing or after.
"There are also a lot of red herrings as well.
"But we managed to keep this one quiet.
Could Unsworth be referring to Dallas there?

Big Dunc sacked. I wouldn’t fancy being the one who had to tell him
Probably wrote a message on a lettuce leaf and posted it through his door.

Left with a bit of egg on our face now seeing as it’s not happening anymore.
Have you been spreading the gloom on the #oafc?
Jesus Christ, everyone's acting like Dallas has rang them up personally to say he's not coming and as far as I can see, there's been absolutely nothing to suggest that's the case?

Does it concern anyone that Dallas and his agent may be playing the same game that Yarney tried to play? Surely by now either us or Chesterfield should have closed the deal…..wouldn’t surprise me if he pops up in L2
Rumours are that Gillingham's move for Alfie May may have stalled.
They were in dialogue with Dallas before they settled on May...

Has Unsworth come out in the media to confirm or deny this story yet??
Disgraceful if not.
And it's also disgraceful if he has and whatever he said isn't still 100% factually accurate 6 months down the line.
He says he's going to play Will Sutton there instead...

According to this, Dallas played the majority of games at Left Wing last season.

He's also allegedly been seen at Gillingham's ground this week.

Chesterfield fans will be absolutely fuming if we sign him.
I suspect it's his agent trying to get him a bit more money out of chesterfield.
If we are genuinely interested then surely one or two are out the door?

Some people have made their mind up about the manager and have nailed their colours so firmly to the mast on this issue that they will now be blinded to the evidence of the clear progression in 2023 and make up their own narrative to suit.
If we are in Negotiations to sign a right back which we probably are then the last thing he should be doing is saying in a public forum is We are desperately trying to sign one then the agent will just shift the goal posts to squeeze more money out of us.
You could look at that the other way though and say why's he giving one of our own young lads false hope?
I'm not against Unsworth by the way! I am against playing a kid out of position (who I rate as a CB) in a position he quite clearly struggled last season.

Didn't he say we might sign a couple of loanees last week?
He's also just said he's happy to start with Sutton at Right Back....

Q: Have we made any enquiries about loan players yet?
DU: No. I think it was necessary last year when I came in, the squad in my opinion at the time needed major heart surgery. The way we did that last season was loaning players. Some came off, some didn't. The health of the club now is that we don't need to enter that market. We might need to but what we've targeted is a smaller nucleus of players. I want a core group to work with from day one. At the moment we haven't looked at (loans)

With all this talk of improved structure, stability, Unsworth in/out, new players better than/no better than what we have, it would be interesting to see where we, as fans, in one word are right now regarding our expectation for the season ahead. No elaboration, no reasoning, no if/then/else, just a one word reply using either optimistic or pessimistic.
Me?
Optimistic
Upbeat
Or
Unanxious (for the first time in...ever?)

Chesterfield sign an Everton keeper on loan who apparently did really well at Chester last season.
They also have Jordan Ibe training with them.

Throws the Golden rumour out the window doesn't it?
-
Chesterfields bespoke puma kits.
-
Also, £50 is ridiculous, it's available to buy without the badges from Puma's teamwear range for about £15. Is the bespoke element the fact that it's a goalkeepers kit that will be worn by outfield players?
All of Chesterfields kits last season (including goalkeepers) were the same design, just different colours, I hope ours aren't.
-
Well the third kit is a shite city/chesterfield rip off.... So much for bespoke, but we'll only wear it a few times.... Just hope the home & away aren't part of the generic puma team wear.

Chesterfield sign Will Grigg on a 3 year deal.
3 year deal, paid a fee for him & will be on big money.
He should score goals at this level, but MK Don's fans reckon he's now way past his best. He's averaged 1 in 6 over the last 4/5 seasons (albeit at a much higher level)

Good luck to the lad if he wants to play in front of 1200 at Salford. Personally I'd be changing agents instead of clubs.
If I had an agent who got me an extra £500 a week I don't think I'd be in a hurry to get rid?
