  1. No we haven't it was a one off suggestion for the Altrincham Cup tie which we won. It was MM who continued it when McGahey was sussed out.
  2. What a miserable post match interview, the players were knackered today he said (why did he start them and why weren't Wealdstone?). Blaming, players out of position (why didn't he address that in the January transfer window?) Blaming the fans, and even had a go at the interviewer for asking him what went wrong in the last few months (played a lot of top teams he said and didn't lose many). When asked about next season indicated nothing much can change due to contracts. So looks like the same as, which is really depressing.
  3. Ask any of the youth about Chuka, they think he's great. A really warm infectious personality. Winning the dressing room is half the battle in football.
  4. That's why I mentioned in house. We did it with Pete Wild from the youth set up.
  5. As I've mentioned promote Paul Murray and charismatic youth team coach Chuka Akuneto. The youth team was poor before they took over, but since they've encouraged good passing attacking football with some of the best young prospects I've seen in years. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2023/july/14072023-chukwuma-akuneto/
  6. The 3 previous games without him showed his replacements were nowhere near as effective.
  7. Then it's a panicky January transfer window and this season repeated again. I'd promote the excellent youth team coach who'd get even this lot playing attacking football.
  8. Promote from within, Paul Murray and the excellent youth team coach Chuka?
  9. Well teaching them how to pass a football is impossible.
  10. We do know know the dressing room as shown in the Reid 'What are we doing here' video.
  11. They played in Brazils colours and we looked in awe if their slick excellent passing. Their number 2 played like Socrates with his calmness and immaculate distribution. Our players can't even pass a ball 5 yards to a colleague. Add a lack of desire to that and its a downhill slope.
  12. Mellon with his hands in his pockets throughout the game while their young coach was constantly encouraging his team said a lot to me.
  13. Truly awful making them look like Brazil, they could have scored 7.
  14. Played us off the park a well deserved lead for Wealdstone.
  15. Actually we have been passed to death but they have no cutting edge. Only Green and Fondop are any threat. We may win this but the performance again has been awful.
  16. I wonder how many haven't realised its a 12:15 kick off?
  17. Let them clear off to to the European League they will eventually be in.
  18. I enjoyed watching Ashton and Avro more, both teams commitment put us to shame and the youths style of attacking football was very refreshing.
  19. I wonder which youths will be offered contracts? from what I've seen there could be at least three, two forwards and a centre back. I know some don't rate him but I'd sign Benny Couto for another season. I was impressed with his attitude, pace, distribution and forward thinking in the Manchester Premier Cup Final. Still only 19yo.
  20. I admit I used stats in the 1980/90s, Rothman's annual was my source. I'd look for any teenage central defenders and centre forwards over 6ft 3" and the likes of Ian Marshall would turn up. But it was only a guide to follow up on and I needed to watch them myself to see if they were suitable. So I'm not against stats bombs, but they can change quickly with the age of a player. For example a young player may or may not develop or an older player decline after 30yo. They also don't take into account any injury or personal problems. Used in conjuction with actual scouting it can be a useful tool.
