  1. I wonder how many haven't realised its a 12:15 kick off?
  2. Let them clear off to to the European League they will eventually be in.
  3. I enjoyed watching Ashton and Avro more, both teams commitment put us to shame and the youths style of attacking football was very refreshing.
  4. I wonder which youths will be offered contracts? from what I've seen there could be at least three, two forwards and a centre back. I know some don't rate him but I'd sign Benny Couto for another season. I was impressed with his attitude, pace, distribution and forward thinking in the Manchester Premier Cup Final. Still only 19yo.
  5. I admit I used stats in the 1980/90s, Rothman's annual was my source. I'd look for any teenage central defenders and centre forwards over 6ft 3" and the likes of Ian Marshall would turn up. But it was only a guide to follow up on and I needed to watch them myself to see if they were suitable. So I'm not against stats bombs, but they can change quickly with the age of a player. For example a young player may or may not develop or an older player decline after 30yo. They also don't take into account any injury or personal problems. Used in conjuction with actual scouting it can be a useful tool.
  6. Most of the players here are proven, counts for nothing if they can't do it anymore. Same goes for managers.
  7. Can anyone send me the stat bombs attributes of our youth team player Alfie Atherton? I bet they don't tick the required boxes, yet my own eyes tell me he's going to be a great player. Who will be right in the future I wonder?
  8. The proof is the players signed by DU, who admitted ticking the stats bombs boxes to search for players.
  9. You are spot on about work rate. I watched Real Madrid who's players are earning fortunes work tremendously hard for each other, there always seemed to be half a dozen in packs attacking or defending. Why our players always look tired is a mystery to me.
  10. Always been what I've looked for. Alas fell on deaf ears.
  11. He will play the same failures, I doubt he's seen the youth team play.
  12. I agree with Golden, I also mentioned him during the match. I wonder if MM has checked his stats bombs.
  13. I'm asking if you can confirm the manager actually watches all stats bomb recommendations himself. If he doesn't how can say he know what a good player he is?
  14. Stats department!! More trendy rubbish, you need a proper scouting network and management who will actually check out recommendations. It worked well at Nottingham Forest when I worked for Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, the likes of Gary Birtles wouldn't even be found on any stats database.
  15. Oldham Rugby managed to gel 20 new players this season, if they have quality it's easy, if not it's hopeless.
  16. Please can you explain how we have used it well and how clubs managed to find decent players without it in the past?
  17. Have you been watching the game? name me the good players.
  18. That first half v Halifax was the worst passing I've seen from any team, even at pub level. Mellon should hang his head in shame at turning out a team like that.
  19. If the manager thinks he knows good players he's sadly mistaken.
  20. Let's be realistic, we are level but its a dreadful performance. The passing is non existence. Dallas giving a good impression of Nuttall, always second to the ball. Conlon half hearted, McGahey turning like a juggernaut. Only Gardner showing anything. The Halifax right back is the type we need. We can't be having this next season.
  21. Yes, what the EPL clubs want they get, which will be a European league soon. The EPL will be doomed then.
