I'm not judging them on what they were put in the side to do though. I'm judging them as players on their own and if you think Fane is anywhere near Byrne then you're wrong IMO.
Byrne wad head and shoulders above fane with ball and fane was head and shoulders above byrne without the ball.
Fane does a dirty job not too many players want to do and we need that for byrne and gardner to be effective.
At no point have I said fane is better than byrne... Im saying that on tonights performances, byrne was not miles better than fane which is what you said.

Byrne didn't play as well as he can tonight. Still different class - head and shoulders above Fane who, like you said, had a great game tonight. We're lucky to have him and I hope we get him past Jan too.
I get what your saying but was he head and shoulders above fane? Id say they both played equally as well as each other if you judge them on what they were put in the side to do...

Saw him come on for Macclesfield against Forest Green Vegans last season. He looked tidy but I wonder how many minutes his legs would go for.
I remember shez barely moving out of the center circle for 12 months but ran the game... Absolute class.

But it obviously caused more problems to us. We had to play with 10 men!
I've watched the Fane sending off several times and it looks like he sent him off for kicking the ball...but yeah maybe I'm just biased.
If anything charlton guy kicks fane.... The smug prat robinson was grinning like a cheshire cat... He knew they'd bought that

Wilson was abandoned by Banks and so the second was Banks' fault all day long. He went walkabout (again) and their player couldn't believe his luck. Immediately he raised his arm and the ball was duly delivered.... goal.
They played a quick move and they breezed past banks... Something which happens all too often. He's guilty of ball watching which also explains why he stands still 30 seconds after passing the ball.

Bullshit. Fane has enough talent for this league easily.
Fane isn't pretty but he does his job well... He breaks up play and in fairness to him, he looks more comfortable on the ball than last year. He looks clumsy but i think if you look through that he has potential. He also cares.... He was gutted to come off whereas banks strolls about playing terrible fifty yard floated balls and doesnt seem to give a monkeys.
I agree that banks was put in a position that maybe didnt suit but he was abysmal. I never want to see him play for us again.

He had a little purple patch, but he scored 1 goal since 26 Dec 2016 for AFCW, in 24 games, then 2 in 4 this season for Bradford.
15 in 53 since he left us,
1 in 3.5 games would be classed as good for a latics striker...

Corney said that no potential buyer had got as far as a deposit but this one had or is close

Touche!
Seriously I think next week will be where the bad run ends.
Couldn't resist...
I think we'll scrap a draw to be honest next week. Generally go to Blackpool but I'm giving this one a miss. Cant believe how flat i feel about this season... Just 2/3rds of the way through august ffs.

I know Banks is poor and didn't touch the ball for first 20 mins today but how he always gets singled out when players like Holloway are alot worse. I don't want to hear people say he's been played up front on his own, he just ain't good enough, he's one lazy weak bastard.
You could have stopped at the first sentence.. If your central midfielder doesnt touch the ball for the first 25% of the game.... Hes not good enough. Either he didnt make space to be passed to or he didn't go and win it for himself.
He improved slightly but he prances about flicking his hair. any pass over 10 yards is terrible and he loses his man every time. When a fella finds space 25 yards from goal hes usually strolled past banks on the way in.
Holloway was poor but your aksing him to do an impossible task... Banks... Your asking him to do hia job.
A few people on here said fane was the problem.. Not banks... Well without fane banks has to win the ball and, lets face it, hes no good at that.

All will be fine.. We've got Corneys suprise signings to come

I actually thought he did alright...
Was his usually average steady self... Dummigan on the other hand has lost his defensive ability and rather than bombing on with the ball generally takes it backwards...
-
Said last week fane did his job and it was the playmaking midfielders that were causing the problem... It showed in first 15 mins that nobody else is capable of putting a foot in. At 2 0 they dropped into 1st gear...
-
Fane is the best of a bad bunch... He does his bit generally by breaking up play. Its the other players responsibility to keep hold of the ball and create. If we cpuld do that better he wouldn't have to run around quite so much...
We chase the ball far too much.. Thats our issue.

Green didn't put a foot right, Holloway awful, McLaughlin anonymous.
All three were head and shoulders above banks

Admittedly I didn't see the last twenty minutes but Banks wasn't the worst player on the pitch, the stick seems a bit unjustified.
Who was then?

If corney was there he may feel he has to find it from somewhere as that was a terrible perfect

Holliway could well make way for Duffus, Shez must be very frustrated he just doesn't look a goal threat.
What service Holloway dealt with today would duffus do better with?

Banks was in his natural position. Green wasn't. And I'd still rather have kept green on over banks
Was suprised that wasn't the change... Banks off and green into the middle. I cannot for the life of me see what anybody sees in him. Flynn was even more anonymous when he came on

Holloway could become a target for the boo boys pretty soon.
Green will be first though.
Green works hard but is definately not a wide man. His work ethic will keep boo boys away. Hollaway, again, should be ok as people can see its a service issue

Keeper..... 7
Wilson.... 7
Clarke...6
Gerrard ... 6
Hunt...6
Back 4 with little pace and not much going forward
Fane.. 7.5
Green... 6
Banks...5
mclaughlin.. 6
Fane breaks it up well and looks more solid and muscular this year. I think he could be a very good player.
Green out of position but worker hard
Banks....Apparantly if you criticise him you're making him the whipping boy but he does that himself. Absolute waste of a shirt. Cant run, cant pass, cant deliver a set peice, cant tackle, loses men all the time and swans about like hes zidane. I dont wanna see him play again.
Mclaughlin tried but no end product.
Ultimately a 4 with no creativity and not much steel. Lost count of how many times oxford jogged through the middle without a challange. Fane cant do it all
Holloway.. 6
Davies..6
Average ratings for these two but they had zero service....as such went looking for the ball in all the wrong areas to match their skill set
Subs
Flynn... 4
Duffus.. 6 (same as other strikers)
Tope.. 6
Not solid enough in midfield to be hard to beat and not enough creativity to just outscore a team... Worrying times but still time to beef up the squad... It needs it!

Every single player played well today... Stand outs fane, clarke, Byrne and gardener...
Wellens the only manager we've had in years whose subs regularly make sense.
Someone i havent seen mentioned here is omrani... He came on threw himself at everything. The guy is a unit!!
