  1. Just back and forth between someone in main stand and Norwood / bench as he came off. Despite the justifiable frustration with the recent set of results, and the general performances, it may be best to say nothing, than to shout abuse at a player who we may well need next year (if he's here!) - IMO!
  2. Very embarrassing - came across very badly on stream.
  3. Terrible, gutless football. Been getting worse all March, but by God, this is the lowest.
  4. Garner's movement for his goal, when the cross came in over him, was what got him the space. The defender didn't move with him. Good goal. Fondop's finish and workrate was very good.
  5. Would actually substitue Shelton, despite him coming on as a sub. As others have said, he can't pass, doesn't tackle, has no positional awareness.
  6. Really inept management performance. There was pure desperation throwing players on with no shape or structure and hoping a hoofed ball with stick and result in a goal. Dorking had our measure. Pure, pure desperation......
  7. Tollitt should never play again. He is a dreadful player. All else I agree with.
  8. Raglan has been fantastic in defence. Hasn't missed a header.
  9. Great listen. Really positive and upbeat and a lot of questions covered. Hopefully, sets the tone for the season!
  10. Article about Jack Byrne in Irish press: https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/league-of-ireland/i-couldnt-see-a-way-back-on-and-off-the-field-how-the-journey-home-led-to-jack-byrnes-resurrection-38653686.html
  11. Solution to our goalscoring would seem to be as simple as hanging a towel in the side net of the opposition goal! Must be something they are practising in training!
  12. I know John Sheridan may not be the messiah (but hopefully will be!), but Lee Johnson despite how well he is doing in Barnsley (fair do) is not mentioned in a thread subject title on the first page of OWTB! And rightly so, because what epitomises Oldham for me, has returned! I know I'm stating the obvious for many who are on this site, and repeating sentiments......but I just wanted to add my positivity!! :-)
  13. He is prone to the odd mistake - which unfortunately due to his position, means they are more costly and noticeable than other people's mistakes. But he is more prone to putting in a strong defensive performance and is an asset. Does need to be more vocal and commanding verbally - possibly his english is not great?
  14. Ross 2509 - what the hell!?!?!?! What game were you watching, I can't believe the statement you made. I too was very concerned about the selection of Tarkowski and Brown! I don't know where to begin - Mvoto had a mare.........what was he doing for both goals - Tarkowski looked like the senior central defender and was brilliant throughout. Connor Brown was about 2 leagues above Wabara - he can defend AND attack! This is his third game since Wabara left and he is a serious prospect. Jonathan Grounds, is and has been the best and most consistent player all year long. Lee Croft was brilliant tonight and defended as well as he attacked. Up front we were ok, but when Matt Smith came on, it was a total different game. TP played a blinder making the changes when they needed to be made and was unlucky not to get the win. Paul Dickov was immense and epitomised the feverish support shown by true Oldham fans, whatever their relationship to the club!! Oldham were a team tonight and justice was served!!
  15. Don't know if this has been posted, but according to Sporting Life website, Dickov safe for now! http://www.sportingl...-the-time-being Sorry, see that this has been reported already, several times!!!! Heads not the best this morning.....come on Oldham!!
  16. If you're including Irish, Scottish Mike Milligan John Sheridan Gary Kelly Andy Goram
  17. Yeah, I think I posted this topic to see what would come back on Hazell. I have to admit, that living in Ireland I have only seen a couple of Oldham games live, and am dependent on the highlights that are provided by Latics world. Maybe the highlights are incorrect and do not do justice to the relevant players, but having reviewed the depressing scenes of the last 8 games, as well as what I saw and objectively concluded earlier in the season from the highlights, Hazell is not a competent centre back. For most of the goals he is either missing or has made a mistake. I think he could be better utilised as a striker in the mould of Heskey, and that may be an option, because he is an honest player, but he is not Centre back material. He does not ever appear to have the right position or anticipation for runners.
  18. I am in awe of John Sheridan, but unsure as to whether this is luck or skill!! As a player, he was majestic. He was a magic midfielder for Ireland, and I was so delighted when he signed for Oldham, to keep the Irish quality connection alive - Milligan, Irwin, Kelly. I know there have been a few doughnuts recently!! However, I know he played under many club managers, I think his loyalty, blind loyalty, to some players, has been his downfall. He seems to have a Jack Charlton like loyalty and an ability to get the best out of very mediocre players. When you look at the results he achieved, over his relatively short tenure, he did miracles, although I don't know whether to applaud his ability to get the best out of these players, or to deride the stupidity of the players he stayed loyal to! When you look at some of the players he signed, or kept hold of, I think the guy was genius. I'm not sure as to the background of some, but he was involved in Trotman, Allott, Fletcher, Crossley, Hughes and the left back from Chelsea, as well as many more. I know he was also involved in bringing soem lemons to Boundary Park also, but he did try to bring in decent loan players when he could and I think he got the best out of the players he had - where are those players that left, and thought they were better then Oldham?? None seem to have been particularly successful since except perhaps Porter (all the worse). He got Davies and Hughes to score goals, Trotman was class, he even got Rubens Hazell to look half decent, which was something, as I think this guy is the worst centre half, I have ever seen!! I would love to see a return to the glory days of JR, or at least an Oldham team that can try to score as many, or more, than it concedes, and I do think Joe is the man to do it, but unfortunately, there is serious surgery required, to get to a stage where we can be challenging to get out of League 1. Not sure we have the funds to do this anymore, but a return to Scandinavia is definitely needed.!! Stam and Hazell must go!
  19. Jaysus, Lags, that's a quick response! I expected most to ignore me, but still think they were good tonight. I meant to say that I hope that following a good TV result, that we don't get another H'Field after!
  20. I watched Oldham Athletic with great pride tonight! I don't come from Oldham, I'm from Ireland, but have been supporting Oldham for over 20 years following Frankie Bunn's 6 goals! The thing I have always said about Oldham when people ask why I support them, is that they always play football, and well! Tonight, some of my mates watched, and said they couldn't switch over to the monkey ball to see Ireland beat France, but stayed watching Oldham, as the heart they showed was unbelievable. The point I want to make was that the skill the Oldham team showed tonight both before and after the sending off, made me proud to be an Oldham supporter. I have listened to plenty of games and read loads of comments on this board, and am sure many are justified, but the team are good, better than Leicester, and need to perform better against lower league teams, but I am proud to support any team that shows such heart! Show the support they and the manager deserve, teams are winners, not individuals.
