  1. Not that I'm one to piggy back others ideas - The Oldham Ultra Radicals ? Fair play to the lads organising this. Being ahem - middle aged (damn there I said it!) I passed the baton on many moons ago to the younger generation to generate the atmosphere - something which has been evidently missing of late. Good luck tomight - hope loads of the "rads" join you. now then give us a T give us a I Give us a .......... and so on ....repeat to fade
  2. Slightly disappointed in the big fella tonight. Tarky came in at the last minute and looked positively shaky in the first 15 (dont blame him for that, must be difficult as a young lad being thrown in). It seemed however that there was no communication at all between the 2 centre halves. I'd have thought that being the vastly more experienced, Jean would have been constantly talking to Tarky - seemed the other way round by the end. We seemed to grow into the game defensively although their penalty came directly from our centre half being left one on one with their striker and despite holding him up not getting re inforcements. Not too worried - only half time and we have more than enough fire power to turn this round.
  3. Already has a number of boo boys baying for his blood - didnt do himself any favours tonight. After we had won the penalty he insisted on going on and on and on and on and on at the ref re a possible red card for their defender (my opinion was it was a yellow - Kuqi was brought down however there was another defender present) until he was booked. Then he went on and on and on and on again - honestly thought he might have even got a second yellow. Kuqi stepped in to calm him down ( when really he should have been concentrating on taking the pen!) He seemed to be fired up slagging of Phil Morais too. Dont get me wrong, I love a bit of passion, however he seems to be losing it on occasion. Surely he has to learn to channel it in the right direction. Personally I think he is picked on a little - probably because he's the home town lad, maybe because he's a bit mard..... that said, if he continues with the verbals he'll have a lot more on his back. Come on Chris - turn that frustration into aggresion in the tackle and the will to win, encourage your team mates and lets get to Wembley.
  4. There was a time at Anfield when lower league clubs who bowed out at Anfield got a rapturous ovation from the home crowd as a mark of respect from the home fans. This type of action made Liverpool fans stand out from the rest. Maybe it was the fact that Oldham had a magnificent following who maybe got under the skin of the home faithful, maybe it was because of the Adeyemi events, maybe it was bacause we gave them a real scare early on, or maybe it was the town full of racists chant, but that wasnt the case last night. In fact even in the after match press conference it appeared KD didnt pay much respect to Oldham or their magnificent support (that said, I haven't seen it all). That said, one player stood out for me last night. I've not always been an admirer of his, but he went up in my opinion last night. Not only did he use his experience to try and calm Tom down on the pitch, but he was the only Liverpool player who approached the Oldham fans after the game and recognised them with a clap above his head. - whatever his thoughts may have been, he recognised Oldham players and fans alike had given it a real go. Respect.
  5. OK thanks - I had heard from somewhere that there's only 1200. Unfortunately New Year's eve destroyed too many brain cells so separating fact from fiction is becoming a daily challenge!
  6. just been trawling the OS - maybe missing something. Does anyone know when the tickets go on sale for the away leg?
  7. and I was one who actually got in on that night! 800 unlucky souls locked out! Great night - thanks Mr Milford.... haha
  8. I share the sentiments of most on this board. Alan always had his knockers, after all, you will never please everybody all of the time, particularly in a club environment where each has his own opinion on how things should be done. I can only comment on my own dealings with him. A true gent, with time for all. e mails and queries always answered honestly and promptly. No one on the outside of the club really knows the dedication he showed to his job. On a matchday, did he kick back and enjoy a glass of port with the visiting dignitaries - not a chance. Was he busy dishing out the hot pot? - of course he was. Was he making sure everyone had what they wanted - of course he was. Well done Alan - 30 years + great service to the club. Good luck for the future.
  9. Whoever it is, lets hope justice is served and he appears in front of the beak sometime soon..........
  10. I'm, looking at the job he did last year .......... well played last year Greegs.............still looking....................he's now past it !
  11. I saw the incident in its entirity. After having had their car punched by a foul mouthed yob (it was punched because the driver of the car pipped their horn) the car turned left at the end of sheepfoot lane and parked up. The fella surveyed what damage had been done, the woman turned back up Sheepfoot Lane to confront the tough guy loudmouth who had tried to vandalise their car. Surprise surprise - they were nowwhere to be seen. No doubt suddenly hit by the "omg I've gotta actually face up to someone so I had better stay mute bug" which must be sweeping Oldham.
  12. was this on sheepfoot lane walking down towards Claytons?
  13. er (usually a sound made when considering a response) No (negative, opposite of yes), I dont realise how little of an Oldham fan that makes him look.
  14. As a fellow fan of the boys in blue he gets my respect. As a top pro who shuns the limelight and as such is able to take his lads to the footy - again, respect. Fanakapan, you are of course entitled to your opinion.
  15. Yet again - in the main stand watching t'Latics minutes after Utd finished their game at Villa. It's been said so many times before I know, but what a model pro that fella is. Total respect.
  16. Yeah he was there. Sat with Ian Hill for the duration of the game.
  17. Its probably been mentioned before but is there any official reason why OAFC werent represented in the NW Masters this year?
  18. Useless waste of space - in the job ALL DAY and no signings. Get him out sack the board
  19. Brings Furman on for Smalley, but inexplicably moves Whittaker out to the right. Not a major fan of Whits but I thought he was very influencial in the middle of the park on a day when Stephens who has played well of late wasnt on top form. No surprises then that following the change that we went long ball... absolutely crazy. Eventually saw the error of his ways and slotted Whittaker back in the middle. Does he not see these players in training and already know where their strengths lie? The key today (as seen in the first half) was to pass through the midfield with Taylor and Abbot dropping into the hole. We looked dangerous again (no surprises) when the balance was restored. And as for KP....omg..... that, my friend was a very poor effort! As for Betsy's "wonderstrike".....DB did well to dive over that one..... it actually appeared that the shot was missing at first. Did he get a hand to it to deflect it in to the goal (the angle of viewing may have deceived me).
  20. what an ass, close the dooron your way out
  21. Well said. Held the ball up superbly....then used it intelligently. Helped the defence out no end.
