  1. I always rated Vernon, i don't think he's quite as good as Porter but then i haven't seen him play for a few years. Would be a decent replacement but i doubt he would come back
  2. I don't think Glombard or Clarke are the answer. Constantine is a good player but i think Championship clubs are looking at him so he's probably going to go there. We are really going to struggle to find a replacment for Porter who will play at this level for reasonable money i think out best chance is getting someone on loan. Lafferty at Burnley is a fantastic young player, Burnley are also looking at signing Constantine if they do that will push Lafferty down the pecking order. He would be fantastic at this level if Burnley would be willing to let him go on loan
  3. I agree Hibs are much better than Motherwell but perhaps Motherwell are planning on investing in players this summer which is why Porter is considering them. I don't think Killen is that much better than Porter i think there pretty much equal, i personally would prefer Porter in my team than Killen. Anyway it could be the making or breaking of him, but it's down to him to decide where he thinks is the best place for him. Perhaps the injury isn't sorted like we all thought and he's worried this could be his last contract and he's looking to cash in. If i were him though Motherwell would be the last place i'd go
  4. I think he see's it more of a stepping stone rather than going to a better club. I mean Killen was nothing special for us, he looked good at times but rubbish at others, he spent a short time at Hibs and now he is at Celtic and will be playing in the Champions League next season. If Porter does well next season and manages to stay injury-free then he will be getting more offers from Championship clubs, maybe even lower Prem clubs and possibly Rangers/Celtic. You can't fault the guy for wanting to further his career - as i presume many of us do in our jobs - but it is anoying that it has dragged on so long and the petty jibes his agent and our club keep firing at each other just makes the situation worse
  5. I agree 100% with this post. People seem to think that anyone who plays for this club has to love it forever, all they have to do is want the club to do well whilst they are here and give 100% - which Porter has done, he can't help being injured and to be fair to the lad he did play through injury in immense pain. I was given the opportunity to sign for a football team in America - womens football is much better over there than here (tho personally i still think its rubbish to watch) i was on the first plane over there! If Porter believes he can make a better career for himself up there then fair enough. Having spoken to Porter a couple of times he came accross as a very quiet, shy guy and that is probably why he hasn't personally spoken out about what he is going to do and so all we have heard about is what his agent has to stay. I hope Porter stays but after what has been posted on the official site and on message baords - some of the players do read them - i doubt there is much chance of that now.
  6. Latics offered him a contract, Warne decided he wanted more financial security and first team football so they decided to part company. Same happens all the time. It's whats happening now with Porter. The only thing Porter has done wrong in my opinion is not speak out, but he's a quiet lad and only 23 years old. And he has a twit of an agent who isn't advising him very well but will probably be getting a very good deal for himself out of all this
  7. He was offered a contract in April, on the same money for 12months, he turned it down as he wanted more money and a two year deal, which is understandable as he is nearing the end of his career
  8. Porter hasn't signed for anyone yet. He hasn't said a word about moving to Scotland or to any other club, its all his agent. If a better offer comes from a different club then of course he will sign for someone else, just like other players have done. Why is everyone slagging him off and not Wellens or Haining or Warne, both Warne and Haining turned contracts down here and have gone to other teams, i presume Wellens will end up signing elsewhere as well. If Porter does go to Scotland then so be it, it's not Porters fault the club wont get any money. He signed a two year contract for us and played very well for us, played through injury and in a great deal of pain and scored a lot of important goals for us and now he will decide to sign whichever contract he feels his best for himself and his family. Players moving on to different clubs is all part of football. I hope wherever he goes - i hope he stays here though - all goes well for him. I doubt anyone on here will agree with anything i've said on this post but unnfortunately its true, there is no loyalty left in football, from neither the players nor the owners/managers.
  9. From the age of about 10 i spent a lot of time in Turkey and really enjoyed going to the games between the 3 big teams Galatasaray, Fenerbache and Besiktas, the atmosphere was amazing and not just inside the ground but all around the city. When they beat united in the champions league it was fantastic!! I also liked watching football italia on channel four and had a soft spot for AC Milan and Juventus
  10. I agree Macca didn't play well at the end of the season but he proved early on in the season how well he is capable is playing so i think he is a better bet than Rocky. I suppose it all depends on who Sheridan has in mind of bringing in during the next few weeks.
  11. I think Rocastle will go, he did ok at the end of last season but i don't think he is good enough for a first team spot if we are serious about going up next season. I've never really rated Edwards but he is ok as cover down the left
  12. Someone told me that he was hoping to get a part in it. I'm glad the club is rid of him anyway, i've never really rated him
  13. Chris Hall soon to be seen in Hollyoaks!
  14. I'm a season ticket holder and will definately be renewing mine in the next couple of days. When i first heard that we were attempting to sign Hughes i thought it would be a huge mistake but now i've actually thought about it why shouldn't he be able to work? He has served his time - or soon will have - and he should get a second chance. What he did was awful and i would hope it's something he deeply regrets. If he wasn't a footballer then no-one would be moaning about him trying to get back into work. I'm sure it will put a few people off renewing their season tickets but i would hope that once they have thought about it they will change there minds. I sit in the lower tier of the main stand and the amount of season ticket holders has drastically dropped over the last few seasons, its something the club seriously need to look at
  15. We get money cos of his age but Bury will get a percentage of it. I hope he stays i know he seems to be public enemy number one with some fans but i can't see why, he has scored over 20 goals for us this season and thats with him missing games due to injury and playing many games in pain whilst injured. He is a fantastic player and if we want to challenge for promotion next season then we need a goal scorer and Porter is definately a goal scorer. They now know the problem that was causing the problem with his knee so no further damage will be done. We must try and keep him next season if we can and get a pacey striker to play along side him then we will do well. Hopefully City will sell Richards and we will get a good chunk of money to play with, Porters agent asked for 30k signing on fee as thats what Plymouth offered him I'm sure we could afford to give him that if Richards gets sold
  16. I thought Haining did ok today, he certainly played better than he has been doing the last few months anyway. Greegan i thought was awful today as he has been in the last few months, when he played for us on loan he was fantasic and i thought he would be the driving force behind our push for promotion but he has been very bad since the Scunthorpe game. Hopefully next season he'll get back to the player we know he can be. I think Haining will go, Wellens will go to a championship club i wish he would stay but i doubt it, I hope Porter stays but he will probably go if offered something in the championship, Warne has rejected a contract already so will probably go, Edwards i think will get released which i'm not all that bothered about as long we bring in another player with some pace. I think Eardley will go in the summer too, i think we will cash in on him as we have Lomax who can do more than an adequate job at right back. I think either McDonald or Rocastle will go and hopefully wood will go too. Chris Hall will hopefully be in his way too. Blayney will go too i hope and keep Pogs we know he can be a good keeper he just needs someone there to keep his confidence up like Dowie did. I hope Charlton stays if he is fit enough if not we obviously need another left back but we have a fantastic young left back called Black who has just as much if not more potential than Eardley so he will hopefully be coming through tho next season might be a bit too soon for him. Shez MUST buy a leader, preferably i the central midfield, we need someone in the Duxbury mold, a born leader who will always give 110%
  17. GK - Pogs CD - Hill CD - Hall CD - Greegan RW - Liddell CM - Wellens CM - Murray CM - Duxbury LW - Eyres ST - Porter ST - Andrews subs - Blayney, Armstrong, Eardley, Warne, McDonald/Taylor
  18. Danny Graham is a good shout but i think we'll only get him if we go up. I think there will be a big clearout unnfortunately, this seems to be happeneing every summer, we need to get a settled squad.
  19. An extra 50% i believe. Don't ask don't get i suppose. He may still sign. It's difficult for both the players and the club at the moment as we don't know what league we will be playing in or how much money there will be. In a couple of weeks this will all become clear and then we can start concentrating on what happens next season. I think for now they need to concentrate on next weekend at Blackpool.
  20. He looks ok coming on off the bench but i wouldn't like him to be one of our main strikers next season. He is quick, has some skill and can get past people but his finishing and passing isn't very good, possibly another JJ. I wouldn't mind Wayne Andews coming back next season if Porter is still here i think them two would be an excellent pair up front.
  21. He was offered a new contract but turned it down. He was offered the same money as he is on now but he wants more. He is nearing the end of his career and if he can get more money elsewhere then good luck to him. If we do end up going up i can't see him being in the first 11 though which is not what he will want at this stage of his career
  22. I think Constantine would be a good signing for us, but there a few other clubs interested inc Burnley so if we don't go up i doubt he will sign for us. Porter might end up staying, the problems with his knee will limit his options as i hear he will struggle to pass a medical. Warne has been offered a contract but turned it down, hope he ends up staying though I would like to see Stam stay and get a place in the first 11, i think he will go though if he isn't guaranteed a starting place but with his injury record is it worth the risk in possibly loosing Haining and then Stam getting injured again? If we don't go up that could see Wellens go and try his luck in the Championship. I would love him to stay though. If he does go i wouldn't mind Spicer from Burnley given a try or perhaps Cwkya or however you spell his name who we had on loan from Wigan. If we don't go up that could also see us cash in on Taylor and Eardley, we have cover at right back with Lomax but i would like another left winger. A left back would also be useful as cover for Charlton We also have a lot of good kids coming through and i would like to see more of Wolfenden next season. But as we have learnt this season we need a player like Duxbury in the team, a good captain and fantastic leader
  23. I sit in the lower tier of the main stand and yes there are a lot of moaners in there but im sure there are some in all the stands. I spent one season in the lower tier of the Lookers quite a while ago now and it was the same in there. Everyones entitled to their opinion though and if they want to pay £20 to go and sit in the cold and moan for two hours then thats up to them, its more money for the club. When the Lookers gets knocked down im hoping a few come over from there and hopefully create a bit of atmosphere in the main stand!
  24. Liddell is the only winger who can actually cross the ball!! Edwards certainly can't cross and although i do think Taylor is a good player his distribution can be quite poor.
