I think it’s pretty safe to say by now that, even if he has pots of cash, he doesn’t intend to plough it into Latics.

For me Branger’s had his moments in the last two FA Cup games, such as doing a good job of keeping possession and running the clock down against Fulham, but I think his decision making is poor and his delivery from set pieces is truly awful. I have no idea why he’s taking them.

Can’t really complain about the second booking. He shouldn’t have stuck his arm into the keeper. But the keeper’s writhing around on the ground was an embarrassment. Plenty to moan about for the pen. Doesn’t matter how many times I watch it, I still can’t convince myself Clarke touched it. And, the other thing is that the ref and linesmen clearly gave it in reaction to the Doncaster players’ appeals.

So that’s incorrect penalty decisions given against us in the first, third and fourth rounds of the cup. The first two could easily have ended up putting us out. Today’s did put us out.

I disagree. The impact will be massive if it happens, whenever that might be. People are letting their impatience get the better of them but we have no idea what the cause of the delay might be. The disappointing thing for me is for the club to have been managerless throughout a transfer window, particularly given the restrictions even on loan deals these days.

I actually thought the way Butt and Neville chipped in suggested that Scholes’ potential appointment is still very much alive.

Some very odd expectations here. Scholes is hardly likely to say it's happening before it's done, is he? And suggestions that the club should be making a statement - why would they do that if they leading up to appointing him? They're not going to want to ruin the unveiling are they? And, if it's dead, then they don't really have any business confirming to the world that Scholes applied.
