You could see a mile off that Stephens was a class above most players at League One level. I had no doubt he would play higher up - but perhaps not Premier League.

Latics has been a circus act of a club for a decade at least. Only last season were we relegated. Wellens had a brief run of good results as caretaker which forced the decision to give him the job, and we were crap after that. The lacklustre performance in the last game of the season reflects very badly on his ability to motivate players.

I'm not convinced anyone is doing that. But there is no denying that Wellens should accept a significant amount of the responsibility for results, as any manager does.

Can't bring myself to vote for anyone really. If Hampton hadn't been daft enough to throw everyone up for that free kick, we'd have lost to a very, very poor side. Thought we completely dominated, but were fairly toothless, until the penalty. After that, as a team, Latics did a lot of very basic things wrong, with even 5-yard passes missing their target. Gardner was obviously instrumental in the equaliser but, whilst he always seems to want the ball, he's slow to cotton on to what options he has and that usually means he ends up passing backwards. He also gave it away in a dangerous position a couple of times, which, fortunately, we weren't punished for.

Is that a nice way of saying, 'Maybe you should stop coming up with shit ideas"?!

I've had a few decent scores the past few weeks but barely moved up the table. It's tough going this season.

I can’t understand how anyone can have formed a negative opinion at this stage. He’s a new manager, in his first job, taking on a club immediately after relegation. We’ve got 16 points from the first 10 games, four clean sheets and remain unbeaten away from home. On what basis are you (and others) not a fan?
