  1. Sorry for the double post, but Mick Wadsworth in conjuction with the Manchester Evening News make Colusso to be a footballing God Here's what I dragged up from the internet:- Wadsworth keen to keep Colusso April 22, 2002 THE signing of Argentinian ace Cristian Colusso will be a crucial part of boss Mick Wadsworth's promotion plans for next season. There is little doubt that the hugely-talented midfielder could be one of the top players in the second division and he gave Boundary Park's biggest crowd of the season a glimpse of his silky skills and Wadsworth admitted: "I am determined to keep him." Colusso, 25, scores goals of the highest quality and his creative instincts clearly shone through in this game. He was also unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after a crafty chip from 25 yards hit the bar. Rangers couldn't get to grips with the little gem's mastery and if the Latics had taken advantage of the opportunities he provided they would easily have trebled their score. The clever Calusso - his movement and running make him a natural - has played for his country at Under-20 and 23 levels and appeared in more than 120 games in the Argentine Premier League. Wadsworth said: "Cristian is a tremendous talent and he has played many games with top players at the highest level. We have to embrace his talent and not say what he should and not do because he has fantastic technique." Colusso was signed until the end of the season in a short-term deal and is now a free agent after being released by his club Rosario Central, who hit major financial problems. New contract talks are continuing at Boundary Park this week and Wadsworth added: "He likes it here and wants to stay - I hope we can work something out." Frenchman Julien Baudet is also proving to be a big success. The 23-year-old, who is contracted to the end of next season, hit the game's 10th minute winner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How different a situation would we be in now if we'd have signed him? He might have been the difference in us winning the play-offs the season after instead of losing to QPR?
  2. I remember Christian Colusso. I remember how exited I got that we was going to sign this exlosive Argie for a rumoured £1 million. http://mobile.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/Ne...~163137,00.html Wonder what he does now? He represented Argentina at both U20's and U23's so surley he would have stayed in the game. For the record its Halle for me everyday. Top, top player.
  3. Having read through this thread, I must say I'm all for the rule change. Look back to last years game at home to Hereford. We won the game 4-0 and was 3-0 up at HT, so effectivley the game was over. This would have been the ideal time to introduce one of the younger lads such as Lee, Stephens or possibley even Brooke. During that game however, we brought on Fleming (for Crossley inj), Smalley (for Liddell) and Allesandra (for Hughes), both outfield players have played more than their fair share of football througout the season, yet Stephens didn't play all season and Lee played 2(?) games. There was no reserve team and players who weren't being used as subs were just not playing football whatsoever. Another way of looking at it is if you recall the Leciester game away last season. That night Shez braved it and didn't put a keeper on the bench (a specialist position, no?), Fleming gets sent off eary doors in the 2nd half and fat boy Wideass goes in net. Yes we all giggled and sang his praises at FT and everything was fantastic, but if we are all serious for just one moment we would realise that 95 out of 100 we probably would have lost that match. Shez took the gamble of not having a keeper and electing to have 5 outfield players instead, now with having 7 subs that situation should never happen again. If you really like the "drama" of watching some lumpy centre back with no skill playing up front because the main strikers gone off injured after 30 mins and there is nobody to replace him with then I find that a little weird. I like to see players playing to their best and with confidence. Two sides where the losing team can't make excueses for losing. If having 7 subs help eliminate some of these minor issues then that for me is progression. Subs bench next season 1. GK (Specialist position) 2. ST (Specialist position) 3. FB (Specialist position) 4. CB (Specialist position) 5. CM (Specialist position) 6. Wing (Specialist positon) 7. Utility/Youth (Just in case/wining comfy) Oh and one more point. In 1966 the 3rd highest goalscoring Englishman at international level of all time, with the most prolific scoring record for club and country, didn't recieve a World Cup Medal because there was no subs in them days. It was only until recently, a mere 43 years later, that Jimmy Greaves got his World Cup winners medal. Should he have waited so long to have colleceted his medal?
  4. I got really exicted when I read the topic title. I thought DP had pulled of the coup of the year and brought in Vaughan from Everton LOL. Oh well.
  5. I think the promoted/play-off sides will be 1. Norwich 2. Leeds ------------------- 3. Huddersfield 4. MK Dons 5. Millwall 6. Charlton ------------------ Along with ourselves, Swindon, Colchester, Wycombe and Southend as outside shots for the play-offs. To be honest I agree with some on here. I'm not inspired by the signings so far. Having spoken with a Huddersfield Town fan, he is very glad to see the back of Worthington adding that he is a very limited player, although he will always give 100%. The other lad from Shrewsbury, looks as though he will fill gaps as and when required and Jacobson comes from Bristol Rovers with mixed reports. The signing of Abbott could help bolster our weak front line and is a targetman we've been crying out for, but is he seriously going to replace the goals that Hughes got us? I can't see it personally. Barring any clever (please god season long) loan signings from Prem/CCC sides then I can see us having plenty of effort and endevour but will lack a cutting edge against the better sides of this league. Like I've said my heart say's play-offs but my head tells me mid-table. But football is a funny old game and you just never ever know what is going to happen!
  6. I don't think the owners will accept a sub-standard bid for Taylor. At the end of the day we sold Trotman to Preston for 500K, so IMO Taylor has got to be worth something closer to the £1 million mark. He is proven at this level. Last season he scored 10 from the wing and was considered by many (including myself) to have had a poor 2nd half of a season. If played right and stayed in form he could be a 15+ a season goalscoring winger which is invaluble at any club.
  7. I might go and watch him play a couple of times next season, since I'm based out here in sunny Cyprus. I may even make Ermis Aradippou my Cypriot team!
  8. Well thats not a nice thought! Surely we would have some course of action to complain if we were dupped out of any money owed to us. The mere fact that Micah Richards is an England international would put his value closer to £10 million rather than £5 million. Also the if the swap deal was done with Lescott then we would almost definatley be able to prove that he is worth £15 million as an established England international (he makes almost every squad these days), so City would have to value Richards quite high to avoid paying more money to Everton. Out of intrest who was the last England defender to make a transfer and how much did they leave for? Glen Johnson wasn't in the England team when he signed for Pompey nor was Matthew Upon upon his move to West Ham. I'm stuggling to think of any others?
  9. According to the 'rarely wrong' Chron, Gregan is set to join Shez at Chesterfield for next season. http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-fea...-join-spireites
  10. It would seem so. Although sites vary, BBC have us at 7 (4 on 3 off) shots to their 1 (off). Possession 52% Leyton Orient 48% Latics.
  11. I'm almost certain that there is no limit to the amount of "emergancy" loans you can have. All teams can only have max of 4 long term loans i.e Windass & Jones (both here till the end of the season).
  12. Clearly not many members of www.owtb.co.uk but that isn't surprising since he can't seem to get a grip of his own players.
  13. I'm not squarely laying the blame at his door. All I'm saying is that he contributed to the current mess that Oldham Athletic now currently find themselves in as did many others. Dean Windass played a small role, but played a role nonetheless. Since his name was banded around even though he wasn't there suggests that maybe some of the issues between players/manager were because of him (there's no smoke without fire). Remember he made the comments the same day as the night at the dogs, hence no doubt, his reason for not being there. The day after the Leeds game after he had been put on the bench and only brought on after 89 mins and then run down the tunnel in a big sulk then running his mouth on the internet. It would have been the topic of conversation and no doubt would have led to disagreements amongst the players. Add beer and past tensions to the situation and it is no wonder it blew up out of all proportion. I agree whole heartedly that the players shouldn't have been drinking or at the very least been kept on a tight leash, although should men in their 30's have there hands held, unlike the youngsters (who you would expect the trouble to come from) who came behaved themselves on the night in question. Sheriden is to blame for allowing the players to drink, even if it was before the night itself (Fergie once went round to a party at being held by Giggs and Sharpe and put a stop to it straight away). Not the TTA. However, rumours of there being a free bar for the players and staff (who would pick up the tab for that) are quite distrubing and if true then that sureley is the fault of the TTA? There are many, many seperate issues that certain individuals have to take responsibility for.
  14. I'd like to tell you but honestly I can't be bothered. If you subscribe to Latics World, when we sign a player they do an interview with any new signings. Upon Dean Windass' arrival he was asked if he knew anybody at the club. He told the Latics World that he was good mates with both Crossley and Gregan. I think it costs something like £3.99 a month if your intrested. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/Exten...ml?WT.mc_id=nav Edit: maybe I'll let you in on one friendship at the club. Ste Kabba is mates with Ruben Hazell. That's two you've had for free.
  15. OMG! How hard is! I AM NOT BLAMING DEAN WINDASS FOR THE ACTIONS OF THOSE TAKEN AT THE NIGHT AT THE DOGS! I KNOW HE WAS NOT THERE AND PLAYED NO PART IN THE ACTUAL TROUBLE THAT NIGHT If you had bothered to read anything that I have written then you would see that not once have I laid the sole blame on Dean Windass, all I have simply said is that he has contributed to the recent troubles. What I am saying is his comments have had an effect on the squad/team. The very least being that they made an already bad situation (as you have stated) worse. Look the three amigos weren't there, but they to should hold their hands up to some of the blame. How can you justify holding a publicity stunt (which is what the night at the dogs amounted to) during the run-in of a promotion chasing season. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have been Sheriden's idea. Sheriden is also very culprable. I ain't saying he is an angel in all this. Why the hell did he not tell his players they can't have a drink. It was a public event with fans of the club ahead of an important match. Sheriden is to blame for allowing them to drink. TTA are to blame for the event taking place. The players are to blame for not being able to handle their drink and emotions (a common cause of drunkness). Dean Windass undermimed the manager infront of the whole of the country. Regardless of whether he apologiesed to Sheriden the next day or not, the damage had been done. Did he apologise to the Squad? Also if I remember correctly (and I may be wrong) but I seem to think Windass said he had spoken to Sheriden and had explained his view properly and Sheriden had explained his reason for leaving him out. Nothing was said about apologising that I can remember.
  16. Yes that right I am. Obviously I went to the same faeces stirring school as Dean Windass. Seeing the actions of some of our the 'professional' footballers at our club they are doing their best to dispel that theory. As for getting back to my homework, I think you should maybe take some of your own advice. Racking up an impressive 2500+ posts does seem to suggest you haven't been doing yours lately. Infact since I have spent most of my recent time in either Iraq or Afghanistan I'd encourage you to join the Territorial Army as you seem to have to much spare time on your hands. Either that or maybe enlist when you reach the age of consent. Yes I made up what Dean Windass said. Seriously, tell me (with a vailid explanation) why you don't think Dean Windass has undermimed the manager, fellow teamates or even the TTA? He has (that is fact) and IMO it has had a knock on effect. My original point to all of this was that with all the unrest and given his past behaviour why can't he keep his mouth shut. What in the hell are you on about? Who's going to court? Since when did I ever say I was QC? Now who making stuff up! Maybe.......if......I..........write.......like........this.......you.......will .........understand...........what..........I'm..........saying..........Dean......Windass's.........comment............have..........had............an.............eff ect...........on.............our............club............The.........players.. ........involved............during..........the.............night...........at... ......the..........dogs...........only...........have...........themselves....... ......to..........blame...........for...........their...........actions.......... ..and............any............punishment.............that..........is.......... ..given..........to............them.............they..........are..............af terall...........supposedly.....................adults..........But.............. do...........not.............be............so............blinkered.........into.. ............thinking.............that..............Dean...........Windass's................comments.............have............not.......played...... ......some...........part..........in.........what...........went...........on... .......last..........week Hopefully you read that slowly enough for it to sink into your brain. The worst of what he did was undermining the manager, thus making Sheridens job of controlling his players even harder than it already was (which by all accounts was already very hard). What do you think Lewis Allesandra though of Shez when Dean wrote his blog. "I told the manager to put one of the kids on the bench so they could get some apperance money" So does Lewis now think Shez has picked him for the squad on merit or because Dean Windass told him to? That is just one example of a blog that took any shread of authority the manager might have had with the players and tore it to pieces. Yet Sheriden was soft enough to have him in his matchday squad the following weekend.
  17. Here is an equation for anybody who has trouble seeing my points Dean Windass comments + TTA decison to hold a night out mid season + Shez decsion to allow the players to drink and give them time off training = Trouble amongst players/staff Trouble amongst players/staff x Not getting sorted last week = Getting beat by Colchester Getting beat by Colchester + Leak of incident to national press = possible sackings and the end of our season. But its alright because Dean Windass didn't do anything and he won't be here for the fallout next season when half the squad leaves and TTA can't be bothered investing anymore money and we end up as relegation fodder.
  18. Well if you can't be arsed to read the whole thing then your comments are worth taking into any serious consideration. Maybe it went like this: Chris Taylor: Did you see what that Fat Yorkshire lad said about Oldham (the club who he loves and supports) Sean Gregan: Yeah, what of it? (Dean Windass's mate) Chris Taylor: What do you mean what of it? Aren't you suppose to be our captain. Why don't you try sticking up for the club instead of your mates Sean Gregan: Why don't you shut your mouth. Chris Taylor: Make me Seasn Gregan: Ok (slap) Now then I'm not saying that is what happend, but can you see how Dean Windass' comment could quite easily have affected opinions and divided the dressing room? There is no smoke without fire and I believe Dean helped fan those flames. Just like I believe TTA also showed weakness by not sending him back and Shez showed weakness by putting him in the squad. As I said previously (if you could have been bothered to read it) there are lots of people who are to blame for the events that have happend. Dean is just one of them. All my original post was about is why can't he keep his mouth shut. J@ck if you seriously think that Windass has had no indirect impact on the squad/managment then you must be as stupid as he is.
  19. Suspending people is not the right way for the club to go about things. If the people involved are not found to be accountable for their actions then they (as players) would have missed training sessions and the manager would have missed preperation time with his squad. I can't see anybody getting sacked. I think its a clever ploy by the clubs chief's to curb the behavour of its staff. At the end of the day the players are a valuable commodity and other clubs would not hesitate to sign them up within hours of us letting them go. As for the manager, well he would appear to be the victim on the night in question and would probably have a case for unfair dismissal, especailly considering we are still in the play-offs with a decent chance of finsihing there come the end of the season. But it this is football we are talking about and nothing seems to suprise me these days.
  20. I'm not saying its Dean Windass' fault entirley. But can you really honestly say that his comments would not have any disruptive influence in the dressing room that would have contributed to last weeks events? At the end of the day, the entire squad is to blame one way or another. They are all adults and are all capable of stepping in and doing the right thing. Windass might be less guilty then Gregan but is a hell of a lot more guilty then Eardley/Lomax/Jones/Fleming etc who's name you never hear. His comments showed a disrespect to the football club and the manager. Now Hughes (if reports are true) goes and puts his own manager in a headlock! There are a lot of people to blame and like I said some more than others. Can the TTA really say it wasn't their idea to have this night with the fans (please read: publicity stunt), because it was. Something that was out of Sheridens hands. Should Sheriden have told his players no drinking on the night, hell yeah. Should the players have thought, we are pro footballers with an important game coming up at the weekend so I'll just have a couple at the most and be on my best behaviour. Should Dean Windass have undermimend the managers authority. No he shouldn't have. Should Sheriden have demanded he be sent back to Hull. Yes he should. The last few weeks have been building up to something like this and it has not come as a suprise to me. Lets home that our players take this nasty attitude, come together and unleash every last drop of it on MK Dons with a big F.O. to the national press. The phrase, don't kick a man whilst he's down, springs to mind.
  21. Well Dean Windass has moved quickley (for him anyway) to dispell the rumours that he had anything to do with "BellvueGate". http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_5032483,00.html I'm sorry to say Mr.Windass but whether or not you was there, your actions over the past couple of weeks have contributed to the actions taken by some players last week. Your comment to the ITV blog undermineded the managers authority and has no doubt helped to widen the split within the dressing room. Dean Windass, you are guilty by association. Now please piss off back to Hull. Edit: Why has the board not banned Windass from doing these blogs/interview/media work for a few weeks at the very least. Especially in light of all the recent off field event?
  22. I'm afraid his media outburst would have already seen to that. This situation will not do the club any good and will only call into question Sheridens judgement both from fans, media and the players themselves. That maybe so but at his time of life he should know better surely? This whole situation reminds me of Pierre Van Hooijdonk at Forest all those years ago. The 'I'll never play for you cos (whine)' attitude stinks. I didn't like it then and I most certainly don't like it now. I had a chat with a friend of mine on facebook who is a Hull fan. Obviously he jumped to Windass' defence with things like "he didn't expect to be on the bench" and "he could be on the bench at Hull". At which point I pointed out he has started 9 out of the last 11. Scored 1 goal. Possibly has 3 or 4 assists and a 40 min cameo appearance in goal (where he got lucky). He hasn't struck up a partnership with our leading goalscorer and looks to be unfit. "Yeah but he always give 100%" came the reply. Thats debatable and at the end of the day sometimes just giving 100% is not enough. At then end of the day if he's this bad for us in a promotion chasing League One side, how bad would he be in a struggling Premiership side. I don't think Phil Brown would let him near the bench. Why let him off so easily. Lets show him up the way he's shown us up. Lets turn the tables back on him and make him out to be the bad guy.
  23. I totally agree. It's me of no end. The guy is an egotistical muppet who should jog back to Hull and try and lose some weight. But I would also like to see him reprimanded in someway. If I had it my way, he would be fined the maximum amount of wages (2 weeks?) for bringing the club in to disripute and warned of his future conduct. I would ensure that he drops any outside media intrests and concnetrates on training with the U-18s for the forseeable future until he sorts his attitude out. Then I'd make him apologise at HT in front of the whole Boundary Park. Then and only then would I let him grace our subs bench. His contract can be torn up I'm quite sure and we have the ability to send him packing to Hull. If he doesn't do as he's told we can then just ship him off letting the whole country see what an arrogant little twit(a) he really is!
  24. If he does stay he will get hell the next time he step foot on to the pitch. If our chairman/chief ex/managing director/owner/landlord etc... has anything about him they would order Windass to report to Sheriden for training and make him realise that if he doesn't he will be fined a weeks wage. Its then up to him. The balls in his court. Don't send him back, thats to easy. I don't think he'd like the prospect of going from now till May without a wage so I'd bet he would report to Shez, at which point Shez should make him train with the U-18's until he apologies to his fellow footballers, the staff and the fans in public. As a club it appears we are holding all the cards, so lets not go soft because its Dean 'Billy Big Ball & Fat Arse' Windass and lets show him that he is not as big as Oldham Athletic even if his arse is mightly close.
  25. Well I hope its nothing. Though I've had a sneekey feeling for ages that the camp is split. If this rumour is true than I think we can kiss goodbye to the play-offs. A split dressing will not win games, they won't want to work for each other. Shez will be the one that suffers for it as will us fans. I wonder if Taylor had the same reaction as all Oldham fans to Windass and Windass' mate Gregan didn't like it? Anyway, if it is true my team for this Saturday would be as follows: Fleming Eardley Hines Stam Jones Ferreria Maher Allott Smalley Kabba Hughes Subs Budtz Liddell Lomax Whittaker Allesandra
