  1. Simple Google will find one - I use ExpressVPN but there are plenty of others. Cost depends on how long you sign up for - think it was $99 for 12 months. There are free ones available but from my experience they tend not to cope well with streaming. Not sure on the "legality" but the use of VPNs is pretty common place. I had an issue when trying to set up my iFollow account that the payment detail address ie the UK, didn't match the VPN location - others might know how to solve it but I got a friend in Australia to set it up and then transferred the cash over. Companies are trying to get better at voiding the VPN route - I used to be able to get Sky Go and iPlayer to work over VPN when abroad but on my last trip (last week) it didn't - so there is the risk that iFollow work out how to block it. That being said, last night I got back in from holiday, picked up a takeaway and watched the game from my sofa on the iPad - which is brilliant.
  2. Interesting afternoon. First 20 minutes were as woeful as the two previous home games and it looked like another completely depressing afternoon. I am not a member of the "Banks is awful and the cause of everything wrong with the team club"(perhaps an exaggeration but he does get a lot of grief) - and at the time I thought he was not the worst player on the pitch. A relatively soft penalty (ironic given the rest of the decisions) and suddenly we looked as good as we have all season. Doyle and the new midfielders, along with the rest of the team looked like they had belief - and Charlton looked worried. Second half started as the first ended and we deservedly grabbed an equaliser and I felt could go on and win it. Sending off completely halted us in our tracks and then a mistake gifted them a 3rd and we lost impetus. Credit to the team for getting back in it and maybe they could have grabbed a late equaliser. Despite the defeat I left the ground with optimism for the first time. Doyle, Byrne, Bryan and Gardener all looked good - as did Hunt and Clarke. Davies still not impressed (I'd have brought Osei on earlier) but overall a better performance- minus the first 30 minutes. Perhaps Oxford, Wigan and Charlton as some of the harder home games we will play all season, and a couple of narrow away defeats - we may eventually be better than we seem.
  3. Wasn't sure whether Cup games were included but it had the option to "watch live now" one Tuesday by didn't work.
  4. Cannot get it to work tonight - in the ground but wondered what the time delay was.
  5. I presume there will be a cut off for this rule to be used - have all the squads been called already?
  6. Thanks Harry? Though not my most considered post. Desperate for something to give hope for the future, but too tired of false dawns to get carried away.
  7. £20 build a burger option at OEC for this one for me and will be my son's first ever Latics game (11 weeks old).
  8. Watched today's game using vpn on my iPhone over 4G. Good quality. Images that is. Not game. Impressed.
  9. And its a chance for League One and Two clubs to try and attract some fans that might otherwise go to other clubs? Get a bit more coverage in the media etc.
  10. Interesting comments from SC which hint at something - investment, partial ownership, or a full-scale sale with Corney remaining in place for a period of transition? With what we have put up with over the last 20 years we are understandably sceptical - but faced with the prospect of another 20 years of the same, I am willing to be slightly positive about this but will wait until we get more official news before making more views. The Chron has basically quoted the video comments and added a bit round the edges.
  11. I think this is it. Last season the predominantly same team that started the season is total disarray, completed it. We were never as bad as we looked at the start, and we were never world beaters at the end of it - the difference that Sheridan brought last season (and the one before) was organisation and belief, which in turn brought confidence. The good results were based on being hard to beat, and taking the odd chance that we did create. The pre-season optimism was based on seeing a good proportion of our that team being joined by a few decent but not amazing players - and the belief that we would maintain the organisation and being hard to beat and do OK. I think talk of promotion and the play-offs was always very optimistic, but I think a solid season of not being worried seriously about relegation and maybe getting into the promised lands of mid-table mediocrity is what we expected. The few performances and extended highlights I have seen so far this season indicate we have lost that organisation and robustness. We look confused - shape, selections etc changing too much - and lost. The plus side is we have lost to 2 decent teams in Wigan and Oxford and I think the last 50/60 minutes against Wigan was the best I've seen us play (though Wigan looked to have taken the foot off the gas) and a narrow away defeat. The other factor is that Sheridan has shown he can organise and give belief to teams - and that is probably all that stands between us and being OK this season. Yes its a depressing start to the season - but too early to press the panic button just yet. Another 2 or 3 games and we can start to really assess where we are.
  12. Blackpool 2 - 0 Latics (2-0) no scorer / Clarke (As you don't get any points for no scorer can I stick one down just in case?) 4312
  13. Whilst its difficult to pick out good points from the season so far - and from the game on Saturday, but I am with the very small minority that doesn't think that Bank's is the pathetic excuse for a footballer many on here (and in the ground) think he is. As I said, no player is doing well at the moment, but Banks for me isn't worse than Fane, Dummingan, Hunt (on Saturday), Green etc etc in our midfield. My frustration with Banks is that I think he has the potential to be our best midfielder, and the fact that he isn't means a waste of talent. I know that this view is not popular - so expect the abuse that follows....
  14. I seem to remember under Darren Kelly our first home game (first game?) of the season was against Fleetwood. As the new North Stand was not completed I watched from the RRE and saw us get battered for the 90 minutes and play terrible football - but a combination of the David Dunn flop (complete with wink as described) penalty and some good fortune we hung on for a 1-0 home win.
  15. Or a David Dunn style flop in the penalty area (Fleetwood at home).
  16. Four competitive games in and I think most supporters must be starting to get a little nervous. Remember under Ritchie losing the first 5 games without scoring a goal - so we've had worse starts - but looking forward it's not clear where (based on current form and performances) the first points are coming from. Shrewsbury at home?
  17. Managed to get a friend who lives in Australia to set this up for me - might have been possible to do it with a UK bank account - so should be able to do this for the next away game.
  18. I am, and have been for 30 years, a season ticket holder. However would be willing to pay $130 for the away games and the odd home game I cannot make due to work / social commitments. Apart from the fact I don't have an foreign bank account.
  19. Appreciate that it is just 2 games. My comment was that in those 2 games he had not increased his reputation from last season. I am not suggesting that the 2 games is an indication of the season to come, but I still stand by the fact nobody is feeling more upbeat at the moment than they were at the end of the last season.
