That caretaker role if it came to pass

the fan idea is something ive been thinking of for some while. An idea similar to the ebsfleet one but we wouldnt get enough fans on board to finance it and carry it through. if we got 2000 mdembers and charge £10 a week to be a member and have a vote i still don't think we would have enough to cover costs! -
i didn't want to include usbecause thats a no brainer! lol
-
lets see how much this varies. vote for the best team and worst team you have seen us play this season. I have gone for saints as the best but norwich would have got if not for an average 2nd half against us. exeter are the worst i have seen for ages.

Just done the BBC predictor...

i had us 12th 12 points clear of danger and 32 off the play-offs. tried to be as honest as possible but it is quite difficult to predict latics scores as we all know. i think 12th is realistic if we win our games in hand. norwich 1st 9 points clear leeds 2nd ------------------------- col u 3rd 3 points off autos charlton 4th milwall 5th swindon 6th ------------------------- hudds 7th 1 point off play-offs saints 8th latics 12th tranmere 14th brighton 20th 2 points clear ------------------------- wycombe 21st gillingham 22nd exeter 23rd stockport 24th 7 points off safety -
just been on their os- saddlers.co.uk and found theyv only been given 300 seats and they arent running a coach up here. this sound strange to anybody else? or anybody know why?

this was quite obviously a freak game. 6 shots on target 6 goals. 2 offside goals for swindon n a disallowed goal for us. maybe if luck went our way and we stayed switched on for the extra 5 minutes in 1st half the result would of been better. how can penney control that? i understand why penney is under scrutiny but you can't sack him after tonight. when we've all played an even amount of games then we know where we stand. were 2 wins from midtable so we all need to stick together and get behind whateve 18 players are representing us! a win v walsall saturday and we could be 16th and then win 1 of the games in hand and a cushion begins to develop. there's alot of crap teams around us and i believe we have enough to survive. Have you lot seen stockport wycombe exeter gillingham tranmere brighton and even southend play recently? i think theyre all worse than us and i think we have enough to finish above them. that puts us 17th and then theres carlisle who have slipped since pericard left and hartlepool who are looking over there shoulders. If when we have all played the same number of games we are in the bottom 4 or close to it, then i will panic. but not until!!!!!

i posted this a few days back. how whalley and dickov had been released and would be useful. although dickov as been linked with leeds and derby this week. so i would say it looks unlikely

Another scheme for the owners to try

and just to further the idea maybe it could become some sort of membership scheme? you pay a fiver at start of the season for a card and you must have the card to get in cheaper. That way you know how many people max you are letting in cheap and can budget for it. plus you make the extra fiver per person. i reckon youd get around 2000 members so that's £10000. not sure if fl rules allow such a scheme but worth a mention. -
lets hope so becaues he could be the creative spark were missing
-
so because you hate a player because of who he used to play for, you wouldn't sign him in the future? Wouldn't that just be cutting your nose off to spite your face? if he improves the squad(which imo he will) then thats the only thing that matters especially in this day and age and in the position we find ourselves in
-
also o leary from swansea. there r sum very gud players out there available on a free. i doubt weve seen the last of the heff tho. thats y price is only ere 4 a month

a very good idea. but to further develop it and make this fair for st holders: work out the average saving that each spectator made through out the season. so if the average match costs £16 next season (2010/11) you would save £4 on average per game. then work this out over the season so that would be £92. So every 2010/11 st holder who renews in 2011/12 is given a £22 club shop voucher and £70 off their 2011/12 season ticket. this should keep renewals up and it would be fair to st holders. if they don't renew they just get the £22 voucher. complicated at first but read it thoroughly and it should make sense -
Don't no if this has been mentioned but there was 2 players released deadline day. Not sure if theyve been snapped up already or if they are affordable but b worth the enquiry with a view 2 a deal til end of season. Paul dickov and simon whalley. Experienced striker who will get goals at this level and creative midfielder. The 2 positions we r weakest in imo

latics been linked with non-league 'ace' but look likely to miss out. Did anyone see him whilst on trial. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11730_5862593,00.html

All the debate about sacking dave penney lets just see how many people really want him out and who they want in to replace him using names mentioned in other threads
-
When royle was brought in crowds went up dramatically. His 1st game v bin dippers was electric til we went goal down. there was pride in the club and the town. The place was buzzing and even non-latics wished us well. what latics need is a manager like what stockport had in gannon, peterborough had in fergie jnr n wigan had in jewell. A young passionate manager who can relate to the fans. we had (imo) this with ritchie before he was unfairly sacked. Given the chance he would have taken us up without spending asmuch as what wadsworth/dowie spent and played decent footy at the same time. Whether he could do that now, i don't know but it could be worth a shot if the decision to sack penny was taken.

ha ha im at home m8! no buses 2 get me 2 work.
-
he was on trial pre season
-
He'd do a job 4 us. Hes turned down an extension at carlisle so available on a free on 12th jan. Sky sports understand he is close to joining a rival league 1 club. Maybe we are a bit lowly for him but if the moneys right and blackman and heff av both gone surely we could put a competetive package 2geva?
-
lol. Im sure ud love 2 av ur beloved lookers back royton blue lad? but with bigger n better facilities?
-
iv just been doin some random number crunching and research. just looked into peterboroughs newest stand. If youve been you know the one i mean. http://www.theposh.com/page/LondonRoad/0,,10427,00.html although it was built in 96 it still has the require facilities. And with the building trade abit on the slow side still if the club tendered the contract right they should b able 2 keep the cost down. Peterboroughs cost £1.4m with 900k bein given in grants. with further facilities and inflation i reckon we could build the broadway stand for £3m-ish. If the club work properly with naming rights and such and build around bp with plans they origionally had then atleast theres progress there. And if city sell richards they av virtually all the cash there. Then just build 2 stands similar 2 the rre and they av a stadium with all the required amenaties at half the cost of the proposed failsworth site and the capacity should b bout 18000 so no need to expand in the future althou there would be the option to add the corners if ever needed.
