  1. Couldnt agree more. I dont do recreational drugs but I dont agree with (a lot of aspects of) the law regarding it's use, and dont disagree with some people who choose not to accept that law. Like many criminal laws it's outdated - it isn't that long ago that homosexuality was illegal (and a diagnoseable mental health condition) - fortunately laws do change. If footballers or anyone else want to do some e's on holiday in Ibiza then good for them - we only live once - enjoy it.
  2. Taking e's and coke now and again is hardly performance enhancing is it. Footballers have been at it for decades, it's just the testing has got tighter - Id have him back in a flash but why would he come back here?!
  3. Why bother? They're not going to get anything out of it and it just makes the club look desperate when they dont need to be (theyve done alright since) Silly decision
  4. If we get anything it wont get through to playing budget. Instead of replying on past players being sold on we should try to make money by playing football - trying a bit harder in the FA cup and getting 1 big team in one round would get us more than this deal
  5. I think Newport away will be a highlight....for them
  6. I always think freed from desire by gala has an excellent basic footy chant quality about it "na na na na na na na na na na na"
  7. Not sure how you'd use one of his songs but I wad chatting to Carl Cox and his sister last year - who needs lyrics when you have techno
  8. Other Oldham/manc based acts with relevant songs to amend: M people - sIght for sore eyes or moving on up D:Ream (coxy) - things can only get better Lisa stansfield - change Simply Red - money's too tight to mention / fairground N trance - set you free Thin lizzy - the boys are back in town Take that - back for good, could it be magic, everything changes, patience, pray, rule the world Inspiration carpets - this is how it feels
  9. touche Hopefully Oldham going down this year will be enough evidence to convince the whole world finally that this god fairy tale is best left in the remedial annals of the past. No god would ignore the prayers of a Latics fan surely? Oh I like the stone roses idea
  10. Each to their own, Id rather another night at the dogs (had a long chat to Hughsey that night - leathered) than another visit to BP right now
  11. I really hope Shez is back..and he picks up Hughsey from Worcester on the way back up north
  12. Likewise, but I can definitely drive to work quicker and safer in my audi than my mrs' vuaxhall, in the same way I would have more success riding a better horse. Each to their own, but for me its impossible to rate McCoy against his peers because he has had an unfair advantage throughout his career in the same way lewis Hamilton currently has; though I would never doubt either was excellent at what they do.
  13. Well I was brought up on a farm so I can ride...I can also drive a car. Not so hard when you know how
  14. Cox definitely the currently most famous son surely
  15. Agree about McCoy, he's basically been sat on the fastest available horses for decades, doesn't take a great amount of skill. Considering jockeys to be proper sportspeople is similar to formula 1 drivers, their success is significantly weighted on the quality of what they are sat on moreso than their own sporting ability. Yes they are sportspeople but not ones I admire. The greatest sports people to me are those who have stood out in their field because of an outstanding skill, whether natural or learned, which has contributed to an outstanding achievement. And for me those are in sports where there is an even combination of cognitive skill with physical ability. So whilst there are sports which favour one or the other (e.g. snooker, more cognitively based, and weightlifting, rowing more physical), there are some that combine both more obviously - like football, rugby, boxing, gymnastics, golf, sailing & tennis. Andy Murray is an astonishingly good sportsperson, I dont like him as much as Novak or Roger, but he deservedly wins this award and I think he has a brilliant personality - those who think "personality" means comedian have it all wrong, personality simply means the specific way that individual people are - Andy Murray has a way that helps him to succeed in being an excellent sportsperson and a great role model. That said if you actually break down the wins he had in the Davis Cup this year they were all pretty easy for him and if Novak and Rafa and Roger/Stan played then GB wouldn't have won. I would hate to be around Lewis Hamilton for very long - but again his personality helps him win. I cannot think of anyone I would least like to be around than Tyson Fury, I abhor all his views, but again his personality aids in making him the winner he is. If you look back over the last 20 years there have been loads of pretty boring winners. A few years ago Zara Phillips won the award - Given that actually happened I dont think it is an award to be taken seriously.
  16. Free agent now, blue through and through, has connections to Oldham via Philli... must be a goer to replace Dunn
  17. Automatic flying mop sweeps elderly scally into dirty bucket where he belongs
  18. What is more likely to come first? A) going into administration B.) Relegation C) new manager I have a feeling a) and/or b.) have better chance of being avoided if c) comes first, and sharpish.
  19. Yes he needs to go immediately, we're going down otherwise.
  20. Yes this really sums it up, please can everyone print this out and post it to all the directors as well as graffiti-ing it on the pitch. The message needs to get through.
  21. My first game at BP in a year. Was never going to go while Kelly was in, and no chance Im going back while Dunn is still there. There were no tactics. Some good players on there, but they had no idea what to do as a unit. Our players scared of tackling and very remedial skills in control the ball and winning the first ball and laying off. Southend played pretty well in parts to be fair to them and always as a team. The referee and lineman on the north stand side has shockers too, their 2nd was well offside, their very short number 10 should have had 5 yellow cards, and other pretty fundamental mistakes. Only positives were some good crowd in the north stand, watching the athleticos, and getting my xmas party jumper from the new shop. I wont be back till Dunn has gone.
