  1. Surely any money to be spent would be when the window opens again? Plus, we need to see what wages we are left with when the players LJ doesnt want go. This thread turned a bit :censored: didnt it ha ha
  2. Was watching a game on the MLS the other night and spotted the referee doing something ours don't. When he gave an attacking free-kick the ref gets a small can of spray out of his pocket, marks where the ball should be and then draws a line in front of the wall so it cant shuffle forward. Think the spray fades after a few minutes. Love to see this in our league
  3. Well said Barry, I think lj is the business and will go on to manage bigger teams and very well I imagine. We need to be glad he is here. Lets hope we can put some money into building the facilities he needs and not relying on his fining system. Maybe playershare should fund the coaching equipment upgrades? I look forward to him bringing attractive football an hopefully the team can gain confidence to see a result out. I thought we had a good go at Preston and you can see the penalty has changed everything. I am sure Johnson will name himself a new captain next season but we need a big personality out there to rally them if we concede. I'm not convinced weso is the man and would prefer a gobby scouser to be the one keepin spirits up. I appreciate your diplomacy in the way you describe the home support sometimes. Despite the fact I would describe a small proportion as being out of order. They expect a player (who they see as well over and passionless) to be able to play better after being boo'd or heckled. They complain if lack of confidence but don't help to build it. I appreciate though that despite the product on offer at Bp this season, that the numbers at the turnstiles haven't been terrible. I know LJ is the right man, he has inherited a problem and I believe he will work tirelessly to do all he can. KTF
  4. I think Johnson reacted to the fact he thought it was :censored:, not because of the boos.
  5. In all fairness at least he seems to be doing more this season. Who knows what his job is? Some things as supports we don't need to worry about. We should worry about helping the team turn this shocking season around. Billy in!
  6. ha ha, sleep it ok for now, bit excited this morning as ive got to pick them up so woke up dead early. The weekly bet was fun. Also remember having a go at :censored: and feeling guilty as he was well old.
  7. Forgot to add my comment ha ha, brilliant this might adopt the "can you hear the moaners sing?" One.
  8. Thanks for all the comments and support, and yes Preston "away" will be my return. Mother and baby are doing amazing, she was a star, deffo a day I wont forget!
  9. Anything that gets people back in to cheer the boys on is worth a go. I read a lot on here about people who can not make games because of the cost and if the club could help out with that then I think they should. Letting unemployed people in for less wont affect the running costs of the ground so surely its only of benefit.
  10. There is a moaning section, its the George Hill (or whatever its called these days) lower, to the right of the dugout if you were looking at it on the tv. Shocking amount of moaning from that area, nothing like the banter in the Lookers lower. Although there was always this one miserable git who would crack out his Specsavers joke EVERY game. T**T and son of T**T we lablled them.
  11. Pretty sure we lined up as 4-2-3-1 Grounds, Tarky, MVoto, Brown Smith, Weso Croft, Baxter, Smith Barnard It is nice to see it switching during the game. Not just in the Dickov era but Penney (sorry) era aswell it was too rigid with a hope for changing it last 10 minutes, sometimes by throwing Mvoto up front!
  12. True, thought we were much better after the changes. You can tell Johnson thinks the same bringing two CM players in. Oofball is hard with one striker. You'd have thought playing a more passing game would suit the formation. Anyway onto the next match, can't see us pounding it forward like that all game on Saturday, though the pitch wasn't great for a Passing game. Nice to see your nieces a the mascots too mate, quality stuff
  13. Like an earlier reply said at least Johnson changed things. He's got us 5 points from 9. And their goal was one mighty cock up. My point on the fans supporting passing ball retaining play wasn't aimed specifically at today, as we clearly were playing oofball for the most part
  14. I've had official DVDs before which were obviously burnt off by the club and packaged. I am sure we just have to be right coz we are skint. Lets face it, if te coaches don't have enough money for training equipment then we aren't going to be paying e professional printing of DVDs
  15. Maybe this is the problem. Why do we chant? Why do we support them? If we don't make a difference?
  16. After sitting in the main stand today listening to some utter bollocks from some pretty frustrated people regarding tactics, I thought back to something I read in the book "I am the secret footballer". A book written by a player on his views of the footballing world. Now don't get me wrong, the first half today was woeful but you can not scream at players for passing the ball backwards and shouting "pass the bloody thing forward" every time we try to keep hold of the ball. "One thing that frustrates players where fans are concerned is their attitude towards keeping the ball. Sometimes when I'm injured or suspended, i'll sit in the stands to watch the game and it never ceases to amaze me what fans shout during the match. Nothing annoys players more than calls to "just get it up there". It seems that some people still dont appreciate the value of keeping the ball for what looks like no reason - and, worryingly, this is not confined to the supporters." "So let me offer offer a few thoughts of my own. Ball retention at any level is important for four reasons. Firstly, when a team has the ball, the opposition cant score. Secondly, their opponents run themselves into the ground trying to get the ball back. And when they do gain possession they are too tired to do anything meaningful with it. Thirdly, the team controlling the ball is able to probe for an opening, often dragging a player out of position by moving the ball quickly. Finally, keeping hold of the ball is the best way to recover." "The other side of the coin is that fans can panic players into making poor decisions. The more unsettled the crowd gets, the worse the football on show will become... by the same token, when your fans are right behind you, there is nothing better. It's that point when you've had a sustained period of pressure, maybe three or four corners in quick succession, and the noise levels are cranked up - you can see the opposition becoming nervous and your own team appears to grow. You find an extra yard of pace and seem to be first to every ball". Anyway, my point being that today (and some of the previous games I have been to) I have heard more and more moaning at the teams desire to keep the ball, even playing the ball backwards if it means us keeping the ball. One minute berating a player, the next discussing his lack of confidence. Not looking to upset anyone, but if we all thought a little bit what we want and expect from third division football and put our energies into being positive, praising the keeping of the ball and cheering them, then Boundary Park would be a much more fun place to visit. For Johnson now he needs to keep us up, and then build HIS club and HIS team, and part of that has to be our mindset as SUPPORTers. We have to be more patient and more supportive. Some of our fans have been watching Oldham for a long long time, and seem to have missed the fact that football has developed into a less physical and more tactical game. What was right "back in the day" just wont cut it in this day and age. Rant over!
