  1. Could be about anything present or past - players, sponsorships, owners, pies, anything.
  2. The cumulative effect of not winning is something that must be avoided.
  3. I think there will be, and it will definately be increased if they want to push straight through the league into L2 to match their ambition.
  4. You're just not adding anything to the conversation.
  5. I'm sorry to say it happens. We hide a load of threats, and we are extremely lenient.
  6. 21st century internets; start a passing conversation, usually an opinion, about something (makes it better if the topic is posted on a single focus forum like, oh I don't know, a football teams messageboard where everyone is supposed to be on the same side), then snipe and threaten to knock fuck out of each other because we can't sway other peoples opinion.
  7. Congratulations, good luck with your new role!
  8. Apparently on the internet when a comment mentions 'that's my last word on the matter' or words to that effect, nobody else can talk about it.
  9. I didn't say he was virtue signalling, which is a phrase that's wracked with problem in itself - it's a lazy put-down. I think Mullin expressed a geniune conviction in response to the Tories fucking us, over and over. I also think that the boot was not to change anyones mind, but it's was to show solidarity in a way that many of us cannot. Support the Miners/Dockers/Strikes etc would have been similar a tone back in the 80's, albeit with less swears - but I get his idea, and I support it. History repeats itself. I said earlier that the poppy was a similar thing to your understanding of Virtue Signalling, or Only Saying That To Make Yourself Look Good. I said the poppy, not wearing of the poppy. The T-shirts, van stickers, caravan decals, painting of walls, decorations etc are almost certainly used To Make Yourself Look Good. Wearing a poppy should be a symbol of remembrance - should be and indeed was, but in recent decades has been politicised and commercialised and hijacked to become somthing to Make Yourself Look Good.
  10. I already said that though, I did say 'subjective'... Anyway, Mullins has achieved what he wanted to say - he's shown the boots to the world, he doesn't need to wear them - when he scores all he has to do is point at the messageless boots - everyone who knows, will know what he means. His job is done, I guess, and the mental gymnastics the free speech crowd are making will continue.
  11. I should've been more specific, perhaps the signalling of people who are not wearing a poppy on TV - or maybe those poppy orientated decals that people stick to the back of the caravans. I think virtue signalling is also the act of bringing to public attention those who do not display a suffiencient level of expected (subjective) support to something.
  12. Precisely. There's a topic in here somewhere, if we could have some respect for the author of the cast and the thread, can we keep it together for this at least? Cheers
  13. You're not adding anything to this. Either let people talk about the issues in the topic and read the thread as it unfolds, debate the points constructively yourself, or move along.
