Assuming this is now true, you have to call into question the competence of those running the club now. I'm not and never have been a Corney out merchant, I remember Moore for god's sake. But this is the second big call on sell on clauses and the second time they've got it wrong. If they couldn't see the difference between the Richards case (earning a fortune for doing nothing at one of the richest clubs in the world) and the Tarkowski one (Young improving player playing for a relatively small club 200 miles from where he wanted to be) then they really need to question their ongoing ability to lead this football club.

I think the fact they don't play for us any longer proves it totally.
Actually it more or less completely disproves it.
-
20% is the highest I've seen mooted. And, IF, the deal value is £6m, about half of that will be add-ons. And, in any case, we won't be spending whatever we get on players.
Don't you just hate a dose of reality on deadline day. Let us dream man!
-
I highly doubt we would have bought it out
I think that's a fairly safe assumption.
-
It's all over facebook and twitter we already accepted Cash from Brentford to Buy out the sell on clause.
Facebook and Twitter. Must be true then.

Anthony Gerrard for free or a £3.5 million Sebastian Coates in Latics defence. A tricky one.
I'd fancy Gerrard against Matt Smith, maybe nobody else.
-
And Dunn thought he was good enough for us! Give me strength.
When did he say that?
-
Wellens can probably still do a decent job in league one but not for Latics.
We have to win games the situation we are in and we need somebody that can not only pass a ball forward but have some goal threat as well.
In the games he did play he sat far too deep and allowed Kelly to move further up, much prefer Kelly sitting deep and breaking play up and have Palmer more forward.
I think Palmer is a much better alternative and i am not unhappy that Wellens didn't sign for us.
All of which assumes Palmer will still be here in 3 weeks. From what I've seen we'd better hope that's the case.
-
A mother of one of the Latics youth players told me he is indeed 15yo, we will look forward to his progress.
BTW have you ever seen a more laid back player than the tall Luton number 18 who patrolled as a holding midfielder?
They played with a holding midfield player? What's the world coming to?

Confirmed until end of season

What land do United own?
I've no idea but the massive commercial cash flows from sky, merchandising and 75k punters turning up to watch them fail to score probably makes it a moot point.
-
I think when we are talking those sums of money then they probably would have....
Surely the point is Spurs appear to have invested that money wisely and become a better team as a result. Will the same be true of us?
-
The first Latics team I can remember was:
1. Harry Dowd
2. Ian Wood
3. Maurice Whittle
4. Alan McNeil
5. Bill Cranston
6. Jim Bowie
7. Don Heath
8. David Shaw
9. Jim Fryatt
10. Tommy Brycleland
11. Keith Bebbington
Promoted in my first season. 50 goals, in all competitions, from Shaw and Fryatt. That's why I became a Latics fan for life.
That's about when I started too. If only we had a Fryatt/Shaw partnership now. We'd have won about 4-1 yesterday.

Remember him well - very good player. RIP

+45 mins. (Palmer signs) Make that 16
Let's hope he has the impact of His illustrious namesake

I swear I saw an Audi with the private Reg Sheehan coming onto the elk mill roundabout this afternoon????
Unless you saw him in Tesco it doesn't count

David Kelly has just lost his job as assistant to Mark Robins at Scunthorpe. Kelly played with Shez for Republic of Ireland.
If you put D Kelly coming in as assistant manager on this Board it might explode.
-
Sheridan quite obviously picked a similar team to last week to give them a chance but simply tweeked the formation a little to counteract Hanson.
He really had little time to do otherwise. Let's judge him from next week onwards realistically
Brilliant. We judge managers after a week now. No wonder we're :censored:ed. 2 managers in 22 years = 3 promotions (2 division championships), 2 FA cup semi finals and a league cup final. 3267 managers in the 21 years since = 2 relegations and one pending.
-
If so might bring in a player from Stoke.
Arnautovic please.
-
Disturbing.
Is he a big lad or little'un? Target man or fox in the box?
5 foot 11 according to wiki, so neither.
He's 25 too, I imagined him to be younger than that.
-
Aren't you comparing 2 different situations? Back then the target and expectation was promotion. We were in the play offs the season before and were expecting that at least. Form had dipped and talk of issues with the players so many felt a new manager would be the boost needed to get back in the hunt for automatic.
Now he's got more experience - promotion, relegation (to learn from), cup win. Plus experience of getting teams out of relegation zones. So he is arguably a better manager.
Plus our expectations have lowered. For most realists, a play off push is probably something for the season after next.
So hardly fair to say that those who agreed with his previous sacking who are now happy with his return are hypocrites.
I think your 3rd paragraph is dependent on what division we are in next year. If it's League 2 there damn well better be one next season.

Almost as worse as one of our statements that
Irony at its best that.
-
As long as shez stays off the booze and no dogs
He still owes me a bottle of bud from Monty's many years ago the b*stard!
-
love the picture of Shez..... Full of joy.
Working out how much a cab back to Newport will cost.

They keep making the wrong decision though. Sadly it's becoming something of a habit.
