  1. Colwyn Bay FC play Guiseley in a replay, either of those would be good, Colwyn Bay for me, only 5 mins away!!
  2. heyyy leave Frank Sinclair alone, he is the main man at Colwyn Bay now...
  3. not sure who Eyresy is scouting for but i sat near him and over heard him say to his mate that he had to keep an eye out for the winger, i assumed it was LLoyd, and when Lloyd bagged his second goal,Eyresy's mate said he looks a bit special so I put 2 and 2 together and hey presto 25...lol and I agree Danny Lloyd will definately take the Conference in his stride.
  4. when Latics are away i regularly attend Colwyn Bay games, as mentioned they had a winger called Danny LLoyd on their books, he is quality, he is raw but anyone who knows anything about football can see he has ability, however, there had been many scouts at some games, our very own living legend David Eyres was there watching him a few weeks back, he scored a hat trick against Droylsden and since then he has been transfered to Lincoln City who have offered him full time football, its a shame Latics didnt get to give him a trial, I think he could have done a job for us in a season or so. I have seen a few decent players at the Blue Square north level and with the right guidance and coaching could quite easily step up to league level, Colwyn Bay have a full back called Luke Denson who is young and decent, Rd Mcdonald was at the bay for the opening 15 games of the season and it was evident that he was better than that level, he has since been transfered, its all about a league manager having the bottle to take a punt on young and inexperienced talent..
  5. i know what you mean mate, happened to me at the Everton game, got a bit "merry " in Weatherspoons prior to the game, a few renditons of latics anthems, a few beers and a few too many sambuccas......but hey ho, it was worth it..
  6. cheers Cesky, me,my two sons and my brother are making a day of it, might head for the Midland and get a chorus of Oh when the blues going early lol
  7. cheers Stevie, whats it like in there? scousers can get a bit territorial lol....calm down , calm down !!
  8. just wondered where everyone was heading for a beer before the game, I remember the atmosphere we gnerated in Weatherspoons in the City centre before the Everton game, was rather hoping we could replicate that memorable day.......you know it makes sense...
  9. I dont know him but id certainly like to salute him and his fellow soldiers, brave men and its nice to see a latics flag getting an airing lol....could be one or two more of them getting a day out on Friday...........roll on !!
  10. im considering buying tickets in the centenary stand near to the away end...any thoughts??
  11. just rang the club, stand by list is more than full, no more tickets being made available by Liverpool FC, oso I guess thats that...!!! hope all the day trippers realise the club still needs supporting long after the anfield visit.....COME ON YOU BLUES !!!!
  12. Away game to Warsaw four seasons back, sat at the back of the away stand watching the warm up,not many Latics fans in the stadium but enough to witness the most embarrassing moment ive had in my 37 yrs being a Latic, so there i was pie in one hand and coffee in t'other and along comes golden bollox Lee Hughes, takes a shot at goal misses by miles, high wide and not so handsome, it was heading straight towards my lad in the seat next to me , there i was, thinking , " thats gonna hurt " when the lad in the row in front of us put up his arm and deflected a white missile towards me, i had no time to react, hands full of goodies and then ...SMACK... right in the kisser, pie, glasses and coffee everywhere....not a happy bunny, and then to add insult to injury, the lads in front gave a nice rendition of who ate all the pies, and then followed it with where's your pie gone....oh how my sides still ache from the laughter...NOT, oh and when my brother got home his pet dog started sniffing ar his jeans, he realised a piece of the pie had become lodged down the crack of his troosers..... but we did win so alls well that ends well....!!
  13. Whitts has got a hat trick.......goooooooooooooooo casper
  14. im getting myself over to Rhyl on Wednesday night, i want to be there to see this amazing spectacle, i want to be able to tell my Grandchildren that I witnessed Rob Purdie play twice for Oldham in the same game, first time and last time....!!!
  15. after having played 5 pre-season friendlies against teams from the leagues above us, such as games against Rochdale, Bury, Shrewsbury, Sunderland u-15s and probably MK Dons reserves erm i mean Stockport, the plans for Failsworth will have been rejected for planning approval because too many local residents will not put up with the constant booing emminating from the ground after each home game, Boundary Park will be a spectacular 2 sided stadium un- paralleled anywhere in the footballing world, The team will be made up of new talent including player manager Alan Hardy with the new England number 1 Dean Brill by name Brill by nature in goal, a back four including Sean Gregan, his carer, Lord Katanga and Chaddy the owl. Midfield marshalled by Casper with the 2 american girls on the wings closely followed by John WOrthington , up front is a problem area once again but fortunately Player manager Alan has used his charm and persuaded one of the Dinner ladies from the canteen to accept a pay cut to partner Lewis Alessandra. in other words.......as long as we havent folded its a bonus
  16. best prepare for league 2 football next season. I have never felt so dis-ilusioned in 35 yrs as a Latics fan. I think all the members of OWTB could pick a better team than DP. It has been a season of watching the worst football at BP in my lifetime, its fair to say that we have had some bad luck with injuries and also out on the pitch but we can not ignore the fact that we are not even up to league one standard under Penney.
  17. i travel from Anglesey in North Wales and i make at least 10 home games and as many away games as i can get to, subject to my shift pattern in work. Distance from my home to BP is 120 miles, therefore a 240 mile round trip. I used to have a season ticket but its a long drive home on a wet winter Tuesday evening when we have played badly.
  18. Thats tragic news, condolences to his friends and family......RIP fellow Latic fan
  19. Place of dreams, scene of nightmares, deliverer of heartbreak .....but its Oldham so im sure we are used to it...
  20. i was in a remote part of Republic of Ireland, right out in the sticks, a real old fashioned drinking mans pub up a side street, went in and they had football shirts from all over the world, Ajax, Barca, Brazil, Argentina,Milan, u name it, all apparently teams who had played the local side in friendlies.......however, a mate of mine who supports everton, walks in and says to me " hey Gary, look at all these shirts, bet you a fiver there isnt an Oldham shirt in here " laughing and trying to ridicule me.....i replied " not even that one above your head " it was class, he had stood directly underneath the old premiership shirt 1992 era......the lads pizzed emselves, worse for my mate, the landlord was an avid liverpool fan, had most shirts except everton ha ha all he had of everton was the classic liverpool fan wizzin on an everton shirt.......bliss
  21. players come and players go.....this lad has had some un-necessary stick recently, i bet he will be glad to get away. I think the club will have ensured they get the best deal possible, they arent fools, so if the fee is less than 500k then there will be genuine reasons for it.......il just be glad to see an end to all the speculation.
