  1. I've still got my one of them & its in not too bad condition - might forsake the fack that i'll look an absolute tool & wear it anyway on sat..........Retro!!!!!
  2. Great news this - we've missed it this year. I can sort of see why the decision was taken as the previous year did nothing for our yoof lads - tey had to play in he stiffs as everyone else was injured but it was en against boys and they got spanked nearly every game. But this season we've not had it as bad injury wise (thank god for that; acually scrap god - thanks robophysio!!) so the 'on the fringe' players have missed out on much needed games. A sensible & correct decision!!!!
  3. As much as i'd love it, i mean love it, if he did finish his career with us - i just cn't see it. He's got at least another season at the very top of the Prem in him; maybe even 2. He's adapted his game recently, in the same way Giggs has too; to utilise their talents to the best of their abilities & also mean they remain in the frame for games. Fergie doesn't stand on sentiments; if he deems them (Scholesy & Giggs) as surplus / past it; then they'd be off. As both are still very much in the set-up at the red scum; i just can't see it happening. Plus, it happened with Merson dropping to this level; and with Anderton, and Jason Wilcox - they get the shhite kicked out of them all game; and have to change their games completely when the realisation dawns that they are no longer playing with the same standard of team-mates. Scholes will know this & quite frankly he doesn't need it does he? Pipe dream stuff!!!!
  4. Don't know what has gone on with both Lee & Stephens under Shez's stewardship- in particular Lee; but one of the implecations of Big Joe's return is that all the players now have 4 days training from a clean slate point of view. None of the players are guaranteed a starting spot / place on the bench for a 3min run out ( ) under Joe as he comes at it purely from a 'best 11 to do a job' stand-point. Think over the next 9 games we will see some interesting selection decisions / formations / subs etc - Joe was never affraid to mix it up / change things arund if its not working; happy days!!!. For me, Lee, Stephens, Lomax, Lewis, Stammy et all are just as much in the mix for a game on sat as Hughesy, Taylor, Greegs etc. Also, i bet the likes of Brookes / Eaves / Bemba-Lita & Rowney are also creaming themselves at the prospect of being considered, as Joe was / is never affraid of throwing in the kids if they're thought to be good enough. Clean slate time - lets see come 3pm on sat who we put out; there may be some surprises ahead!!!!
  5. I wonder what odds i'd get on it being Paul Gerrard???? without a club but not officially retired! And 'one of his old clubs fits; with him having played for us & everton???? i dunno; we'll see!!!!
  6. Agree with these sentiments........the last month(s) have tainted peoples views of Shez; the home performances / tactics / loans & finally 'doggygate' but we can't forget what a great servant he has been to this club. 10 years service is a mark of the man - playing in our hour of need with dodgy knees, coaching & then managing. I hope he is welcomed back to BP in the appropriate manner on his next visit; either with a new team or as an invited guest. He should get a standing ovation that are rsserved for true latics legends......because although it hasn't worked out for him managerially here; that's what he is. Cheers John - thanks for your time here - thanks for your hard work & good luck for the future. [Hope Big Joe can work his magic & save this promotion lark now - good luck Joe!!!!]
  7. Get him out on loan when he's fit and move him on when his contract comes to an end. He should have been out on loan way before now to see if he could cut it playing regular 1st team football. Over the last 2 seasons he should have been at a high Blue Square Conf or Lower L2 side. Fitness has put pay to that though as he's never bloody fit. Waste of a wage this season - 1 sub appearance - injured the rest of the time. In all the cameo i've seen him play at 1st team level, added to the ressie games i've watched him in; i don't think he's got "it" and as such i don't see the point of him still being here. His wage, albeit a small one, could be better used elsewhere........
  8. T'was a page long article in the Telegraph Sport by Henry Winter the week he got the Blackburn job. Big Sam was 'keeping active & involved in football' after the Newcastle sacking, but didn't want the PR; or the official role of a director of football at MKDons. He did it free of charge - he was behind the sports science & training. Ince picked the team & controlled match day activities. I'd be very disappointed with Ince as an appointment if he got it...... Gannon / Keith Hill......Coterill........anyone other than Ince really!!
  9. Gannon & Keith Hill are good shouts...... Aidy Boothroyd is still out of work & did a cracking job at Watford till that ran its course....?? Looking North of the border Jim Jeffries & Mark McGee are doing well with their respective clubs... I'd be disappointed with Ince; as i'm led to believe it was a behind the scenes Sam Allerdyce that was the real mastermind behind the MKDons while Ince was there......very unproven manager IMO. Got a feeling that we maybe will be debating these names as real appointments sooner rather than later...........
  10. I've joined this thread late, trying to read to my way through it but saw this post & have posted on it. Have to say i agree 100% in this sentiment, for me Shez has run his course. I was ahppy to give him the whole of this season as i final 'do something to get us out of this league'...but it's not going to hapen is it? Shez unfortunatley has to be added to the long list of great players who just don't cut it as managers. Top top midfielder & a joy to watch when he was with us - but he just doesn't have it as a manager i'm afraid. Too many mistakes are made time & again; not learned from. Too many selection & formation decisions are just plain wrong. Too many loan deals have proved to be poor. Too many players have been signed & then payed off after turning out to be duck-eggs. Too many mistakes to mount & then maintain a promotion push. The team is rudderless; lacking a leader off the pitch (and on the pitch too while we're at it!) who can motivate & steer into 2nd spot (as Leicester are just too consistently good & will win the league easily) I said a week ago that Jim Gannon turning down Brighton was 'interesting'. As Stocky are fianancially fooked; then surely a large wage offer & the (relative) security of a 2/3 deal at Brighton would be a big draw; unless he has something in the pipe line that hasn't come out yet........ I for one think that he is a realistic target for a new manager & someone that could do exactly what we need to do. Steady the ship - work with what is here & get the best out of it, promote from the youth & use the kids willingly - and unearth players from leagues which we haven't tapped into (Eircom league of Ireland for instance). Also, Gannon was a tough as ol boots player; and i see that trate has followed him into his management style; i believe he'd sort out the supposed disipline problems in no time at all. Shez.....thanks........but i think your time is up as you just don't have 'it'. A new approach if definately needed & i believe appointing Jim Gannon would be a realistic & sensible decision all around.
  11. Voted Maher (belatedly i know). Feel he contributes more over a 90 mins. DW is too in & out, though his goals have been very welcome when they've arrived. Kev is a steady eddie type, who has good delivery from set pieces. He's worthy of his starting spot at present. DW has a role to play though in the run in.
  12. Simple fact its to big to clean in its current size. Thoughts Bed sheet for Windass?? He wet the last one having a paddy........
  13. Exactly. Mental showed what Whingeass needs to do when he came back from Nutgate vs 'Dale. Get your head down & work your socks off when you get the chance to onto the pitch. Then, at the end of the game; applaude the fans & your teamates. Over to you now Fatty; score a few, show contrition in what you've done & stop being a prima donna & i'm sure you'll win the fans over again. Oh, and stop these bloody blogs too; they've really worked out for you so far haven't they??
  14. Dean Whingeass: Erm, sorry Shez, erm, i meant to just say i was 'dissapointed' not to be more involved, erm, i was, erm, misquoted, i didn't mean to , er, slag the club / you / my team-mates / the chairman off, i was, erm, only meaning to, er, express my thoughts. Really really sorry - can i play against the U's on saturday instead of Kabba, er, please Shez i am sorry Shez: ******** <insert your own expletive> OFF!!!!!
  15. Lee & Whitts , then if we're inclined to give the young 'uns a go Chris Rowney, Djeny Benba Leta.........oh, isn't Fabio a RW too; he's on loan so why have here if not to push for place. Not trying to hound Lidds out of town or anything, but i think he should graciously step aside now as he is too old / slow / not contributing anymore to a promotion pushing side [game wise; believe him to be a good influence in training]. Stay this season in the background Lidds - help the kids in training - be pitch side with Crossley on match days - and thanks alot for your time here; but now really is the time to point your way to the sidelines.
  16. Nikolajs Zaicevs (born January 3, 1992) is a football midfielder from Latvia. His current club is Oldham Athletic A.F.C. Youth career JFC Skonto Senior career 2007- JFC Skonto National team 2007 Latvia U-16[/size] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WE SCOUT IN LATVIA?????? We can't manage trips down the road to Ashton / Woodley etc but we get a young lad form Latvia?? Wow. Anyone seen him play or know how we got him? is he one of Wadsworths? (and not in that way)
  17. I knew Charlmers got released (or sacked more to the point!) but i hadn't heard about Williams. There were rumours he had a few 'mental issues' i seem to remember when he signed, but talent wise he was suppose to be well regarded.......
  18. When we signed this lad there was a bit of talk that with fitness & confidence built up he could be pushing for a squd place by Xmas. Now, not sure what's happened - i went to watch the yoofs vs Rotherham in the FA cup & he wasn't even on the bench. Does anyone have any news on him? Oh, and while we're at it there was a lad in the ressies called Zaicevs. who's that? is it a lad from the Hungarians we're trialing?
  19. Sounds promising. I thought COG did very well in the brief pitch time he got with us inbetween his previous lan spells. Not all strikers are 15+ goals a season men - some are target men who create space & link play. Heskey & Kevin Davies spring to mind immediately. Now i'm not suggesting he has their quality yet, but COG is that type of player. I think (or should that be 'hope') he still has a futre here as i think he will turn into a very useful front man with a bit of work. This goal should do him the world of good! Keep us updated County Boy, cheers
  20. Hmmm, interesting. Its all about opinions isn't it; but yours is wrong! Hope you've had chance to watch it back now & seen Smalley setting up our goal & providing one of the only real threats we had going forward in the 2nd half. He beat the LB (Parker) 3 or 4 times to set up attacks & re-watching it back when i got in after the game, Don Goodman commenting said Smalley was a standout in the 2 nd half & i agree with him. I'm not just arguing for the sake of it - but when you say that the main reason we played as average as we did wasdown to Smalley then i have to disagree. The Smalley / Eardley /<insert any Latics youngster or loan players name> bashing that goes on at times on here & and games is laugable
  21. Seems a little stange TBH - if true then it worries me greatly about the state of teamspirit, but that's a massive IF. Plus, as someone has already said, how come its always Chris Taylor in these stories; Ricketts etc. If they're true, then either he's a gob:censored:e or he's an easy target????
  22. Aye, good post. Between this thread & the "Trouble In Main Stand" Thread i'm a little shocked at some of the comments. Especilly after the Stockport game, when many were very vocal about how Stocky should be fined as a club & the fans involved banned - we then turn round and have groups of kids, hunting in packs, looking for trouble before & after this game & fans in the Main stand old enough to know better spitting on & drop kicking Leeds fans; with others apparently applauding their actions. Its a game of Football, on a cold Monday night in Oldham - not life in the Garza strip or Afganistan. There's no need for all this billy big balls football hooligan bravardo at all. The days of the 70's & 80's violence are long gone; yeah i'm sure its still out there if you actively look for it, but to bring it into the ground & then applaude it on here is just wrong. No time at all for people who bring this type of shenanagans to Football - those that say its part & parcel of the game are talking utter rubbish - it has no place in the modern game & as a club & and message board) we should be looking to stamp this type of thing out. We're a little L1 (at present!!) club who pride themselves on being a 'family club' - lets keep it that way eh?
  23. Lidds surprised me with his form early in the season - i thought he was for the knackers yard half way through last season with his injury - credit where its due, he worked his way back to fitness & started this season impressively. BUT (here it comes! ) We've moved on now. Smalley has done enough to claim the RW spot & we look more of an attacking threat with pace on both flanks. Smalley gives the LB's he plays against trouble because they dont know what he's going to do; beat them on the outside with skill & pace, cut in-field or pass it on simple. LB's know what Lidds will do as he will never beat them like smalley does either inside or outside, so they know its a pass inside or a (very) deep cross from Lidds and that pretty much it. Easy to predict & easy to defend. I thought we'd miss his set pieces after the early season form where his corners started to beat the first man - but in Kev Maher i think we've found a more than capable replacement; his deliveries (all bar the really over hit one last night) have been consistently good & threatning recently. His pointing that he does i never noticed that much & when i did it never really bothered me until i read so many people talk about it on here. Last night when he came on (for a clearly knsackered & crocked Smalley) i watched Lidds more closely than i think i ever have - and the Pointing thing really got to me. At one stage; 'tracking back' he nearly tripped himself up spinning around & pointing whilst not following the run of Parker. Know-one actually payed any notice to his points either; nothing was acted on that he pointed to. Quite laughable now i've watched it closely - Andy; STOP IT!!! Penalty wise, we dont have as reliable taker in the side as Lidds; fact! Hughesy has missed 2 this season, Eardley has looked good taking them when required but he missed in the JPT shoot-out. If we win a pen & Lidds is on the field then its a goal really - i'm not that confident with any other player. Shez has siad on many occasions that Lidds presence in the dressing room of great benift to the club as he's a talker & helps the younger players. Fine. I'm cool with that. I now just don't see what he brings to the party; open play wise. Pen's yes. In game play......big no now. His 5-10 min cameo last night achieved nothing. He didn't "take care of the ball" & hedidn't provide an outlet & his experience counted for nothing. Lee or Whitts could have done what he did last night; with far less pointing!!!! Thanks Andy, you've been nice little servent to us; scored goals & had a real purple patch assisst wise in that season but i can't help feeling your time is up. Let the kids have a go now please. P.s I hear Rochdale are looking for Right Mid & they love a good point over in 'Dale!!!
  24. Well Mr Windass, i'm writting this to you as i know you read the boards; Thanks for the goal, the 'keeping heroics & the PR but, quite frankly - bye bye! If we have a sulking, moaning 40 year old on the books & causing problems i'd sooner you did leave. You were promised the chance of 1st team football here as long as your performances meritted it - they didn't, so it's fair enough that you get dropped isn't it?? Stop being a girl about it & whining on the internet. If you'd stayed a game or 2 longer, you'd have had a run again as Hughesy is due a 2 game ban if he gets 1 more booking. oh well eh, Lewis gets that chance now & i'm sure he'll take it. Good luck in getting into the Hull side & good luck for the upcoming relegation battle. Cult staus should have been reached after your Leicester antics but i feel this rant on your blog & last nights petulance has somewhat soured that, anyway Thanks & bye bye Dean
