  1. It's not gone after 3 bad results. Other teams will also have slip up's, poor run of results and 'out of the blue' hammerings. We just need to hang in & around as best we can, and hope with others slipping up; we can put a little run together when its needed. As Palmer1 says though; I merely expected some slight progression this season; a higher finish than last time and signs on & off the field of progress to come. It still looks to be achievable on that on both fronts
  2. Grounds played the full 90mins as Brum beat Forest 3-1 on Sky earlier. He was as he was for us: pretty darn solid & dependable in defence; pretty average going forwards and passing...
  3. Sorry, but i couldn't disagree with you more. Danny Philliskirk is one of; if not the, hardest workers in our squad. I'd imagine if the Opta Stats were published for our sides at our level; he'd be out in front for distance covered and for max output sprints. IMO he's our most talented footballer, and also out hardest worker. I actually can't believe you think his workrate is poor. He defends from the front; and he's been one of the key players in getting our quick tempo going; and working our high press (when we were on form) The difficulty in having brought in Daniel Johnson is his best position is the withdrawn striker / advanced midfielder role; which also happens to be Philliskirks best position too. Danny P can also play upfront outright; as shown by the Rochdale away game in which he was outstanding, but - i wouldnt say its not his best position....so LJ brought in a player to directly compete with one of our best players for the number 10 role. To open up sides at our level; you do need players who can provide a spark; or who can weigh in with a goal or 2. But, at our level especially; you also need those players to contribute to the sides shape; work ethic and game plans. Danny P does that, Daniel Johnson, from what i've seen, doesn't. I'd try and find a formation that both can play in; but - if its a straight choice in the current formation; then i'm Danny P all day...
  4. It's a decent point you make, but not sure it needed emphasising 3 times?!?!?!?!?!?! I think he's at fault; beaten from distance again, and didnt have the reaction, speed or spring to get back and save it...
  5. ...and Colin appears to have been sacked by Palace.
  6. Matt Smith scores his 1st on loan for Bristol City in their 2 - 1 win. It was a back post towering header for those interested...
  7. Yep, another in the 'want it to work, but just dont see it' camp re: Mellor. Nothing better than one of your own breaking through and going on to hold down a spot. But only if they're good enough to. And IMO, Mellor isn't. If he still wants to be a professional footballer, I think he needs a move away this Jan window. To League 2 bottom end (Tranmere anyone?) or top half Vanarama. But, he's so not the answer for us: and again, I base this not just on a whim; but on seeing Mellor play plenty enough games to form my opinion...
  8. Fair enough. Just a hunch. Opinions are fine. Everyone's got one afterall. Just i'm not ready to throw the towl in after a couple of iffy performances; but each to their own...
  9. Can we get some please? 11th after a Boxing Day fixture. Played some cracking stuff, and have a squad that belies our budget. But, 3 games of under-performance, and the worlds ending; we cant play football, LJ is :censored:e manager & has lost the dressing room. We were scrapping at the bottom of the league this time last year. I'm personally happy with 11th.
  10. Can't help feeling alangroves is a returning poster under a new name. Seen this style of posts before. I think...
  11. It was good today, performance wise wasn't it? Tempo was good, passing was on point. There's bashing, there's negativitity...and there's not seeing what's in front of you. We were pretty good today; we just didnt get the breaks...
  12. Beaten from distance; again. Harsh; as Ajose's finish really was a cut above this level, but - Chubbs was so far off his line; he gave him the opportunity to do so. He is weak from shots from distance: along the ground, at pace & height or as a lob. It's a huge weakness to his game. We need a better 'Keeper. LJ tried to replace him with one; rightly so IMO, its just a shame that Kenny didnt appear to be that man. IMO; again, LJ needs to look for another one in January...
  13. Tonnes better than recent performances Thought we were the better side Cracking 2nd goal from their lad; but IMO was a foul on Mills and, couldnt see exactly, so either a FK on the edge or a penalty. That said, sorry, but Chubbs beaten by another shot from distance. With a real clinical striker: a penalty box lurker, we may have got something from today. Better than it has been, but disappointing to lose to 10 man Crewe at home when all is said & done.
  14. Edited my post - days all merge at this time of year. Genuinely thought it was Christmas Day when i posted that (!!)
  15. Can I be the 1st to hijack this thread? Celtic suck arse Rangers blow goats ...and LJ has lost the dressing room P.s - Merry Christmas everyone See you all on the 26th to cheer on the boys at BP...
  16. + Mellor, Tidser....Amari Morgan-Smith? Connor Brown? Anyone not playing basically....
  17. Interesting read that article. So: by Palmer's OWTB logic, i'm going to go 2 + 2 = James Wilson is a bit of prick.
  18. ...but my mind wasn't it - I had my bird and her son watching from the stands; and some mates digging me an escape tunnel under the dressing room too. I was pretty distracted to be fair. I prefer to remember the penalty save...
  19. Oh dear, not another one? He's always had a slightly fragile mental state hasn't he? He's a recovered alcoholic for a start....
  20. It's amazing how people can judge coaching ability based on former abilities as a player. Devils advocate but, Murray, whilst the more talented player, might have been a poor coach; and the reason we didnt fight tooth & nail to keep him is fir that reason? Holden, whildt limited in what he did as a player, could well be an exceptional coach now? Until i can hold an in-depth conversation with several of the players, who have worked day in; day out with both, i cannot possibly comment either way on this. And nor can anyone else for that matter; as we simply dont know what each does behind the scenes at training, around the dressing room and in management meetings etc
