  1. I'd have rested Brownhill and Laird, but other than that, I agree...
  2. If you take a White Van Man, and swap his van for a Black one - what happens then? Would the world implode?
  3. We should have been doing these types of half ST offers for years. But we dont. And on previous form, we wont this time either. Sure we could shift a decent amount if we did do, as someone said, Christmas presents for current pay-on-the-dayers and all that. Temp some of ad-hoc game attenders into more of a commitment? Sure there will be reasons from tbe club's POV as to why they dont do this; otherwise; surely they'd be doing it now?
  4. ...but ....... but ..... but ...what about the 'always in our shadow' banner? Aww shucks...
  5. At the time, it was alluded to that other factors, not just the video evidence of the spot fixing, was behind the clubs decision to sack him. Corney on that piece also quite strongly states it again. There is clearly more to this than merely the spot fixing, which was IMO more than enough to fire him for. Looks like it'll come out in the wash now he's starting legal proceedings.
  6. I see what you're doing there. I'd also hope you'll be balanced enough to see and appreciate the other facets of his game, and what positives he brings to side, goals apart. 3 assists isn't it for starters...
  7. 2 in the Championship and James Tomkins in the premiership too. It's an issue. I guess it's canny, it's trying to gain an advantage and it's sometimes a 'well, they'd do the same if its the other way round' kind of thing; but - its cynical and minging. Didnt realise you cant appeal a sending off if its 2 yellows? So, you could get 2 nonsense decisions and there's nothing to be done? Meh. At least he'll be back for 'Dale though after missing Tuesday.
  8. Anyone else feel we should appeal Jabo's Red Card? Looks a nothing booking on the TV highlights...
  9. Clutching at straws there aren't you? He's been a dick with what he's said, and continues to be with his further quotes. His 5Live interview and these comments, allied to his appointment of Malky show how blantanty out of touch his is. He'd be best keeping away from any media for a while. But - as he loves the sound of his own voice so much; and can't resist a little soundbite; that'll never happen. You know he once broke his leg in the FA Cup final? Never mentions it, but he did...
  10. ...and send him to the labs in the Biomechanics Department of our new University Partners, and do some testing if we're keeping him. There's underlying issues to be diagnosed here with this lad. Something isn't quite as it possibly should be with him - if it's spotted and can be diagnosed; it can be worked on / worked around. I'd start with looking into his lower back or for the dynamics of his running technique in terms of how he's planting his feet for starters...
  11. We were on a nice little run until Bristol City ended it. We could do with going on another one again if we're serious about a promotion push this season. Might have to start that run going after the next 2 league games though, 2 toughies; people shouldnt underestimate 'Dale next week and today with be no cake walk at their place. Anything gained from these next 2 will again set a real marker for us as a side going forwards.
  12. Yeah, he came with a fair bit of hype (comparitive for our level) and really didnt deliver on it for me. He looked the part - white boots, wrist bands, "footballer haircut" and all that, but - flattered to decieve. He not on my underrated list, he's on my meh list. He was pretty pap all told. Taken too soon and a tragically young age to die at, but - that aside, he really wasnt very good...
  13. Not sure on the one who said they could replace Shez? I remember when Mark Arber signed, he made the stupid mistake of saying we were a stop gap, a stepping stone on his undoubted rise up to the Premier League. I was annoyed at his cockyness in that, but secretly pleased we'd signed a player who was so self assured in his ability and was quite excited at his potential for us. Then he played his 1st game, I quickly realised he was absolutely gash, and had just basically made an arse of himself... Last seen playing for Barnet before slidding out of pro football. He never did quite make it to the Premier League...
  14. I was going to put something along those lines in my post, but thought better against it, so thanks for stepping up JSS !!
  15. Fair enough. He's not in mine, I didn't think he was that bad. As I say, what irks is the fact a fee (was it £60K?) was paid to bring him here. I wouldn't have paid a fee for him, at all, but - that wasn't his fault.
  16. No, no - not that at all. I take it from your posts on this thread that I'll wager this will fall on deaf ears, but: It's unbelievable because I'm amazed the PFA have decided to release such an ill thought-out and poorly worded statement on this most delicate of subject matters. IMO, all they have done is show themselves up to be the old school boys club that they've tried to move away from. I mean, the bit that said, 'we don't scale rape, but this was on the lo end; there was no violence and she can't remember it' - come on people. It's 2014 FFS, that's only an extra line away from saying....'and Ched's a big lad, so what's she got to complain about, bet she had a right good seeing too and loved every minute of it'. It's pub talk at best, and in no way should have been released. 'It could have been worse, he could have smacked her around a bit too' - awful sentiments. The bit that digs at Jessica Ennis-Hill and Charlie Webster too. Smacks of the male-dominated changing room talk ' these silly girls don't know what their talking about'. There was no need or context to make the statement about climbing off their moral high horse. It's an awful press release, and I'm not surprised they've taken it down. Anyone who finds themselves nodding along and agreeing with it was they read, needs to give their own heads a very firm wobble...
  17. Injured again? The lad's made of biscuits!! More serious to that point mind, are the facts that he has yet to be fully fit for an extended period, and it seems a worry. I'll wager he's paying the price of not being coached, schooled and developed at a professional club. The fact he's played school level football before going to semi pro for a short time, then jumping straight into professional football may be behind this? All guess work form the outside looking in this is obviously, but it could be the type of pitches he's played on, coupled with good intentioned but incorrect training being given at his amateur level clubs, and then moving from at the most, 2 nights a week training at Stockport (again, good intentioned but possibly wrong) straight into full time, 5 days a week professional training with us. On a young lads body, one that is still likely to be growing, this could very well be the reason he's having so many injuries? I've only seem little cameo appearances from him in the odd games here & there. He looks to have the odd elements to his game that are 'good to go' and will add a nice alternative to our side, but - he also looked extremely raw in the majority of what he did IMO. He's not ready for a run of 1st team games at League One level from what I've seen. A longer term loan would be a sensible move for him, possibly at Vanarama level, but maybe even at League Two level? That said, how long did we sign him up for; 18 month deal wasn't it? So, won't that be running out at the end of this season? If it is, even though we've paid a fee for him, we may have to take a decision on him that he might need too long to adjust and develop, time we don't have really, and his wage could be spent more wisely on other areas of the squad? Big few months for him either way I'd say...
  18. ...and even he wasn't that bad. I mean, jeez, we've had far, far worse down the years. I think the fact that a fee was 'wasted' by Mr Penney on him was more of the issue there. I have, and will never get the grief Eardley got and continues to get. And I'd echo the comments on Reuben Hazell, he was actually a very decent signing for us. Arrived on a free, gave decent service for us and really wasn't as error prone as some make out.
  19. ....and that people, Is one of the most unbelievable statements I've seen on this matter. Wow - and from the PFA too? Who wrote that and thought it was a good idea I wonder?
