  1. Well, thank frig for that. Right next then - sooooooo.... Doncaster in the FA Cups guys, should be a good game?
  2. Danny Philliskirk was my overall MoM. But Liam Kelly was feckin' superb in that second half. Joe Mills, Dan Johnson, Timmy Dieng and Kusunga also all had impressive games. TBF, no-one had a poor game really...
  3. I did indeed. We'd already signed Korey on loan before LJ had come in: IIRC - LJ said at that meeting he's mentioned he could sign players of a higher calibre in his 1st interview, SC asked for an example, and LJ had mentioned Smith. We then signed him whilst Tony P was still looking after the side.... SC mentioned at that meet that he was heavily involved in the Furman deal. I took that to mean really heavily involved; as in, he was the one to sign him. At various times down the years, I've been told that certain players had been brought in by SC and not the manager. Kevin Maher, Kieron Lee & Joe Jacobsen being 3 prime examples i've been told of. Even though LJ is a strong minded individual, if SC signs a player, as he has done previously, LJ has 2 choices - accepts it or walks. It's really not inconcievable that LJ knows nothing of these talks having taken place IMO...
  4. If you think that to be true Luckers, fine & dandy. It's not though. And hasn't been for the whole of SC's time here.
  5. Great minds Twis. If ever there was a time for Barry to be online and on here, it's now that this story has broken.
  6. I hope our 'fans voice' on the board is available for contact on this matter asap. I hope he's not already 'spoken for us' in any club dealings. He obviously has previous in being a key player in pushin through the deal in a very similar matter with Lee Hughes. Jeez, i so hope this all turns out to be bollocks, I really do...
  7. Hopefully all's well that ends well with this. I just have one question: i wonder whether Tony was allowed to change; or whether he was still in his Hulk Hogan costume in the clink at 10.30pm. If you're a drunk & disorderly being brought in at that time, as Tony was leaving, if he's still in Costume, that's got to have been one hell of head :censored:. Would have been quite a sight that...
  8. Yep, smaller in frame than Mark Crossley was with us. And after initial doubts, Crossley turned out to be a very decent signing for us.
  9. ...no smoke without fire. Seems there's legs to this story. I'll be amazed if the key decision makers at the club sanction this. Totally amazed. Afterall the :censored:e we went through with Lee Hughes, signing Evans would be a moronic decision. A decision that would, in all honesty, see the end of my support in terms of attending games. And, in all probability, my support full stop. Is he even worth it all? I mean, even if he's proved innocent down the line (highly unlikely from the summary of the case i've read), he's clearly the type of character who you just wouldnt want in your close knit teams dressing room: his moral compass is at best totally broken. couple all that with this media storm that quite rightly follows him ATM, and i mean - to what end would the club go in for him? He's not that good to warrant it all IMO, he really isn't that good of a player in the 1st place. Avoid. Avoid like the plague...
  10. As I've said, he signs - my ticket goes back. But - from a club POV, is he even actually worth the risk? Alienating the supporters, adverse media attention, loss of sponsors etc. And, for what? He's an OK striker who had 1 particular free-scoring season. On loan, or on the free transfer market, there are other strikers available who carry distinctly less baggage than this lad does; by virtue of the fact they haven't been convicted of rape.
  11. I dunno. I think it's a foul. He's got a hand on him as he's on the edge of the box; and its continues into the box, then there's a movement that looks a pull back, and a clip of his heel. It's not an assault, its a smidge soft, but it's a foul. Their Keeper should be looked at though, the forearm into Liam Kelly is naughty. A more cynical side may have taken that opportunity to have rolled around on the floor and alert the referee to what happened? And yeah, probably not the best of ideas celebrating the penalty if you're in the home end...
  12. For heaven's sake, please don't let Barry Blatter anywhere near any potential club statement on this...
  13. ...it might have just suddenly got a little more tasty for when they visit BP later in the season. No-one likes losing a home game 0-3; especially not to the 'oiks' from down the road. A few more games / days like yesterday and all of a sudden, this wont be such a mild derby...
  14. He signs, my ST goes back to the club. Can't see this being anything other than bollocks media drivel from a journo, but...we have previous afterall. I was fuming at the Lee Hughes signing, but stuck around. I wont with Evans...
  15. Well Cliffords chatting :censored:e isnt he? Toss up between the man thjs thread was about - Dieng, Captain Kelly & Danny P for me for MoM. Danny P gets the nod, tremendous performance; never stopped running, hasselled their back line, held it up well, linked the play and - 2 direct assists and winning the penalty. Cracking stuff. Back to Dieng. Just when you think the Kelly / Jones central partnership was working wonders, Jones goes wide; has more of an impact than Winchester or Dayton has done; and Dieng slots in seamlessly. Classy player is Timmy, I like him alot...
  16. I owe another £10 - think young Daniel is going to cost me a bit here during this loan. £20 so far, and i need to transfer it over. On my to do list for tomorrow
  17. Happened right in front of me. He went onto the pitch, over the hoardings. It was always going to end in tears once he'd done that. That said, the young(ish) copper going in with flying elbow was well OTT and only helped escalate it further. Tony was pretty stupid to do what he did, especially in what had become a pretty heated atmosphere, but the coppers & stewards reaction was well OTT...
  18. Yep, they'll be 3,000+ pissed off Latics fans if we go 1 up, and then revert to the sit back tactics we've seen a fair bit recently. Go for it, continueyo take the game to them...
  19. Eh? Just a term that's used nowadays isn't it? They put on a 'behind closed doors' game for Lockwood that was specially arranged after he stepped up his recovery. Not an official reserve game, but an arranged one where paying fans weren't invited along. I'm not suggesting Big George plays a game in the Players Lounge behind those type of doors if that's what you're getting at...they can be called 'behind closed doors games; and still be played out in the open you know...
  20. Yep, if the young man is fit to play, he plays. In that #10 role too I'd expect, with Philly again going wide right, and a front 2 of Jabo and Forte. I'd expect Paddy Kenny to come straight into the side - he surely won't have joined to sit on our bench? Possibly harsh on 'Chubs, but if both are fit - Kenny is the better 'Keeper I'd say. Not sure of Big George, If he's fit enough, then it's hugely tempting to put him in, but that's my worry - is he 100% ready to come straight back in? I'd be tempted t leave Dieng where he is, and give George a further week of training and a possible mid week behind closed doors game before he comes back in?
  21. Dam you Johnson, trying to improve the side, dam you...
  22. The less said about OAFCM35's post the better here..... Tragic situation this. A freak incident, a pure accident. I hope there is no knee jerk reaction from the authorities here, and they don't ban short bowling or the like. A slight modification to the helmets is all that is needed here IMO. RIP Phil Hughes.
  23. I really don't get this 'LJ doesn't rate Winchester' theory? He oversaw offering him a fresh deal for this season; if he didn't rate him; why do that? He's played him for the majority of the season. Again, if he thought he wasn't up to it( why would he play him? There are options in the squad already that could be played in front of Winchester if LJ wanted; or - there was always the loan market or free transfer market to go and get another alternative? He's been playing him, and using him - hardly the actions of a man who doesn't rate a player? Especially when managers 'live & die' by their selections too. Winchester offers some real bonuses when he plays - that have been discussed on here plenty of times by those that rate him. He also unfortunately brings some negatives too; also pointed out by his detractors. He's a decent player, one of the most natural actual footballers at the club IMO. But to that end, he's also not some sort of integeral superstar who is undropable or exempt from being substituted. If LJ sees fit to keep playing him, but subbing him off; i'm fine with that. LJ sees him every day in training, and clearly knows what he's doing; so i'll leave it to him on that front. Just confused where this theory has come from as to LJ not rating Winchester has come from, oh - and the one about LJ wanting to sell atte 1st opportunity in January too?
  24. 2 2 vs MK Mongs, puts them 7th now ahead of our game on Saturday. Done's red card appeal turned down though, I would have extended it by a further game for the frivilous appeal too, but that's just me...
