  1. We couldn't score against Oxford in 90 minutes. Bromley have just scored twice in the first 6 minutes.
  2. I would keep Hudson, Hobson, Rags and Sheron. And none of the others get a new contract, the rest get payed off. Not going to happen though is it ?
  3. Well none of those that came in since look any better.
  4. Let the wrath of thousands of Latics fans reveal itself.
  5. If we don't win this. It will be the spark that ignites the explosion, that will reveal the rift in the relationship between the manager and the players.
  6. And gaining ground, and going like a train come Southend.
  7. Just about to land on the moon , after being fired off.
  8. Most of our strikers, are either frozen out or loaned out.
  9. For the first time in yonks, I will not be there today. This season has ground me down Piss poor style of play, less than average players, shocking home record( the bottom 2 have both won as many at home as we have ). And a general apathy about the club that is worrying. Surely after the Rothwells takeover, and the money thrown at it , it should be way better than it is . Because of the style of play, and subsequent poor home results, the atmosphere inside BP is pitiful and the Athleticos have been for the most part of the season very quiet, with nothing at all to shout about. Time after time, the only noise is from 200 or so away fans. Two managers, neither of which has put an exciting brand of football on the pitch. With lots of players arriving but making no, or little difference to the product on the grass. Off the pitch, things have been better than for many years, yet in 2 seasons, with managers coming and going at regular intervals, the football we have played has been bloody awful. The mass euphoria at the beginning of the Rothwells arrival, and the carnival atmosphere at our first home game against Dorking in this god awful league has long gone. And no doubt season ticket sales will reflect this. My take on the remedy !!!! football in this league is for young fellas. Both on the sidelines, and on the pitch. All the teams that we have seen this season, most of whom have run rings round us, seem to be teams of young fellas, that are fit, well organized and keen to make their way up the football pyramid. And not old fellas looking for a final pay day at the end of their career.
  10. Today's result could make the gate for the Rochdale game differ by up to 3/4 thousand. If we win, and are still in with a shout, depending on other results. We could have a gate of 7/8 thousand on Saturday. Lose, and today's other results go against us and we could struggle to get 5 thousand.
  11. A big mystery to me is the way certain players have been discarded . Dickenson seen off to pools, even though he had scored a few, including some spectacular long range efforts. Tollitt suffered the same fate, even though he to had found the net with long range shots. And could actually run at people, which is an alien concept to our present lot. None of the players who replaced them have so far even had a shot on target and look like goals are just not part of their game. Latest player to disappear is Lundstrom, is he injured, disciplined , or has the manager fallen out with him too. although he probably had his best game for us against Chesterfield. Furthermore the managers insistence on playing two players, who are both so one footed, that they have to run round in a circle just to address the ball. That will be Conlon and Kitching. All in all, it's all turned into a bit of a mess, with piss poor results, lack of endeavour from the players, crap tactics, all adding up to us being bloody awful to watch which seems to go worse as time passes. My biggest gripe however, is the fact that neither the management nore players don't seem to understand that all our opponents, except Chesterfield look on a visit to BP as their cup final, they come here determined to run their balls off and cause an upset. And it's shocking how many of them manage it. Everyone, except Chesterfield( who didn't want to win at BP) and Aldershot, have passed us to death, and simply run rings round us. And it just keeps on happening time and time again. Why Mellon keeps us playing the same week in week out is a major mystery to me. Surely if you keep doing the same thing, you will just keep getting the same results. This season has been my least enjoyable one that I can remember, with very little to get excited about all season long. The season that started with so much promise, looks to be drawing to its conclusion with lots of very unhappy fans.
  12. Yes, how do they manage to look such a good team whilst losing their manager plus some of their best players in mid season And they do it on average attendances of little more than 1,000 with 5 games being watched by less than 1,000. They look a very good team, score lots of goals ( 25 more than us ), and are on course for promotion. The people running that club on what must be a shoestring budget deserve a medal, and all the success in the world. And have we played them 5 times in the last 2 seasons, and not managed a single win ?
  13. Best performance of the season so far. We did to Chesterfield, what everyone else has done to us this season at BP. We tackled like demons, we denied them any space and when we had the ball we moved it quickly. Lets hope we can string a few more performances like that together between now and the end of the season . Well done lads, keep it up.
  14. Yep, nearly nodded off whilst listening to that.. If that mirrors his team talks, no wonder they look like they have no fire in their belly's, and zero fighting spirit.
  15. Every time they make games all ticket, it knocks thousands of the gate..
  16. I'm driving down for this one, also leaving at 8 bells. And yes, we had better turn up. I don't want to see their midfield swarming straight through the acres in front of them. Whilst all the while waving at our midfield as they go, and yelling ' see ya suckers '. It's time our lot looked, and played like they actually want to put a show on for the home fans. And for a change give us something to shout about. Over to you Latics.
  17. Just had a quick reckon up. Because of travel issues to attend night matches. I now only travel down for Saturday league matches. Of the 13 Saturday matches to date that I have seen, I have witnessed 3 wins. 1 of those was the game against Aldershot, when we played well and won convincingly. This game, was with the previous manager in charge. The other 12 games, even the 2 that we have managed to win were pretty awful. And most were just plain and simple utter garbage. No obvious plan, no set style of play, very little desire to win from the players, no aggressive tackling, and body language from most of the players, that they should be ashamed of. The manager looks to have made things worse, his insistence of keep playing central defenders, even though 2 of them are consistently played outside of central defensive positions. Plus the dire state of the out of balance team, consequently EVERY midfielder who has played this season is given no hope of getting in the game, as our overworked defence just launch the ball over our midfielders heads, which then leads to our forward players chasing shadows, because they are totally outnumbered, and the inevitable consequence is that the opposition are pouring forward once again. Furthermore, the team completely lack anyone that can attack at speed with the ball at their feet, and goals from midfield have been a collector's item. On this point, have ANY of double Ms additions in midfield been even 1% better than the likes of Tollitt, and Dickenson, both able to run with the ball, open up space for others, and both could, and did score goals, something that none of the recent additions in midfield have even looked like they could do. So from my perspective the manager has caused more problems than he has actually solved, and because of that the football has been bloody dreadful. His master stroke last week at Aldershot, when he left our 3 leading scorers out of the starting 11. We may have made huge steps to improve the club in recent months, but there is a long way to go out there on the grass. Obviously, I hope that we have a late surge, and get into the play offs, however I have no confidence that we will do that. All the teams around us are going like a train, and all are in better form than us. Let's just hope that we can recover, and salvage something from what for me has been a miserable season.
  18. And we are in a worse run of forum than any of the teams above us.
  19. All 5 of those above us that played tonight won. Plus 2 of the 3 just below us also won.
  20. Our manager deserved a kick in the pods after choosing that starting line up. Big game, with a chance of putting daylight between teams very close to us . So the manager leaves our THREE leading scorers on the bench.
  21. I feared the worst when we started the game with our top 3 goalscorers on the bench. Which is just bordering on criminal .
  22. Bloody he'll. 60 years ago, when I was a lad, that would have been a great surface to play on . And would more than likely have produced a cracking game, complete with wintergreen ( ask yer dad ), blood, snot, and crunching tackles. And everyone would have been so full of mud, that you couldn't tell who was on your side. But today its a no no, the little loves could fall over and get their knees dirty. Or worse still could fracture an eye lash, or dislocate a finger nail. The game has turned to shit. Blah blah blah.
