  1. It is a small sample size though. But I do think breaking teams down at home is a problem for us, infact in preseason I did highlight this could be an issue for us. We can also throw in home performances against Halifax Solihull and Dorking if we add those 3 under mellon then from those 6 winnable home games we've taken 3 points from a possible 18. Bread and butter games that promotion chasing teams find a way to win, by either smashing them to pieces, or if thats not possible beating them by the odd goal, either way they find a way to secure 3 points. I'm not convinced at all that Thompson and Redfearn had the answers here. I could put the form we showed down to a post manager sacking bounce. Mellons C.V. is far superior to either of them when it comes to managing teams at this kind Ievel to promotion.
  2. It's the same group of players that spanked Barnet on Wednesday. It's not a lost cause. Going into the last 3 fixtures I would have seen 6 points as a satisfactory return. The last 10 minutes yesterday does no doubt put a sour taste to what overall was a good week and if they got a rocket from Mellon and Brabin they will have no excuse. Yes Chesterfield are a far better side all round they will win the league by atleast 10 points, that leaves 1 place left for us to compete for. Our aim is to fight for that spot with a few tweeks we might just get there. Stockport Wrexham and Notts Countys promotions came off the back of missing out in the play offs in the previous season, Chesterfields likely return will have come from being a penalty shooutout away from promotion. While the opportunity to get in the play offs is there we should aim for it. If we fail to go up this season then I would rather the summer rebuild be done from missing out in the play offs than finishing mid table.
  3. The atmosphere created by the athleticos in the last 2 years in the Jimmy Frizz RRE has been far better than the atmosphere created in the chaddy between 1995-2015 when we officially swapped ends which considering we haven't really had anything on the pitch to really get excited about is a real plus point and one we shouldn't lose. The Chaddy has a lot of nostalgia value to alot of fans and me aswell if I'm honest it's where I had my first season ticket but I'm not sure we should now be moving ends. Don't forget the chaddy was and has been open to home fans this season but their was barely 100 people in there yesterday.
  4. Shall we all turn up in cloggs and bring our whippets too, Bar Station Zebra should serve Mild too.
  5. Looking at yesterday's starting line up players like McGahey Raglan Sheron Fondop and Norwood I'm not seeing a group of "soft" players there and throw in Hogan off the bench too I don't think we have a group of mentally weak players. I just see a lack of guile to break teams down. We've shown we can win away I'm not sure we are very good at breaking teams down aswell as we need to be. 2-3 or at most players can change that.
  6. The majority of them are good enough to make up a squad that challenges for promotion. We don't need wholesale changes we just need a few tweeks.
  7. It's a very small sample size but in the 8 games (including the FA cup game against Newport) Mellon has taken charge our home and away form seems in contrast Home P3 W0 D2 L1 Away P5 W3 D0 L2 Are we more comfortable playing away from home? I suppose some will look at that and say that the expectation of the Boundary Park crowd weighs heavy on the shoulders, and its fair point. However I do feel that the squad we have is more suited to playing a style of sitting back and counter attacking rather than taking the game to the opposition. I think we need to find a way to win games at home when the onus is on us to take control of the game like yesterday. I do believe we need a magic man/codebreaker type in the mold of Jose Baxter/Jack Byrne/ or even Harry Vaughan who could unlock a defense in a game like that get us ahead in the game and then we will be less likely to get counter attacked like yesterday.
  8. Our fucking football club eh! I've not read any of the posts on the second half all that needs to be said is that last 10 was dogdoo of the highest order and it doesn't need anymore analysis than that. I'm off out for meal and a few drinks I suggest the rest of you do something similar.
  9. Hello Typical Latics, how've you been! This hasnt been the first time this has happened and it certainly won't be the last. That said we've been flat and lethargic. But still this happens to other teams amd the difference is Promotion chasing teams find a way to win these games from here. If we are serious about going up we should aswell.
  10. I hope they are stocked up with bovril. Wednesday was the first time I've seen us win. I'm yet to see it happen in the flesh today is looking good.
  11. He said it was cramp in his post match interview.
  12. Oh come on we've heard about all this before Typical Oldham fans always living in the past. We don't need to see this again We don't......... ......Oh go on then Oldham 3 Arsenal 1 1989
  13. Indeed we scored 4 goals last night by counter attacking and putting the ball behind the defence. Ebsfleet will probably be playing 20 yards deeper but won't have the attacking threat that Barnet have and will let us have more of the ball. It will be a test of our guile and creativity and of our temperament as we will be going into the game with an expectant home crowd looking to build on 2 good wins and a slow start could see them becoming restless. We will have some players such as Mcgahey and Gardner who's fitness may struggle to hold up to 3 games in the space of a week. Not wanting to put a downer on what are 2 very good results, but if anyone thinks Saturday is a given then you've learned nothing from supporting Oldham Athletic.
  14. Technically they were both signed by Keith Curle. So Hogan, Sheron, Fondop and Norman were Shez signings from the 15. Anyway not that it matters we won 4-1 away and I for 1 am buzzing, night all!
  15. Nice to see Norwood smiling in the interview and saying Fondop is a lunatic and he was taken off with just abit of cramp too.
  16. Best performance of the season this. It's about time we started believing in this team promotion is very much achievable this season.
  17. Fondop looks goosed get him off and rested for Saturday.
  18. 10 goals in 22 for Norwood again what does he give to this team?
