  1. Derbyshire Times Gateshead This article ahead of last nights game gives us some answers and yes the goalkeeper (I don't know if it's the same one) is one of those going to the EFL.
  2. Indeed which they willingly signed up to. People can still think and say what they like, But if you commit a point of view or even an accusation to writing or indeed to a video it takes on a different level of accountability.
  3. If you are using freedom of speech to defend a position on an arguement rather than reason it's a sign your losing the arguement. If you look at the actual people who get "cancelled" on social media people like Donald Trump, Alex Jones, Katie Hopkins they are usually an extreme minority who take a point of view way past reason, logic, facts, and the truth. Not sure those people contribute much in terms of the quality to a debate.
  4. It's amazing the amount of people openly complaining on social media about being cancelled I'm sure I wouldn't be able to hear or read about them if that was the case.
  5. I think Gatesheads season could drop off a cliff here with the squad being gutted and losing Williamson it's going to be hard to recover.
  6. Even if we don't beat Barnet or Bromley we can still go up it won't be the end of the promotion push. They are big games though you're right and I expect us to be up for it. I don't think either Barnet or Bromley will particularly fancy coming up here against an in form Oldham side certainly not 1 that has been strengthened. Don't forget we now have a manager who knows all about getting promotion that could be the difference in the run in.
  7. It's not even miraculous its a solid run. Promotion is very much on the cards this season it won't take a massive improvement for us to go up. If you look at our results they have been that of a promotion chasing side for 12 months now. The first 9 games this season if anything was a blip. We can allow ourselves to believe.
  8. If we are playing Mcgahey in midfield I'd say that's where he most likely comes in. An upgrade in position without disrupting the rest of the team.
  9. There were concerns on Mark Kitchings fitness when he initially signed and he's barely missed a game. That's no guarantee Conlon will go the same way but he does tick alot of boxes here interms of pedigree and interms of what we need let's see how it pans out though.
  10. Yeah you're being hyperbolic Was the defenses performance or the goalkeepers performance disturbing bearing in mind we kept a clean sheet.
  11. Yes unfortunately the world of social media rewards that behaviour. That said he appears to be having a mid life crisis and is only 2 tweets away from driving bare foot to Dundee stuffing his face with a Toblerone. Edit: Not comparing what people on here have said to what that idiot has said but yes a sense of percepective is needed.
  12. Yes but I've seen some somewhat hyperbolic comments such as "embarrassing" "disgrace" and "we were shit" and "disturbing" (your take on today) in Mellons post match comments he said we defended well but in the second half we didn't keep the ball well and we need to improve here this ties in with what alot of people seem to think who went. So it sounds like we didn't play that well but won. So while while we should see it for what it is let's not see it as worse than it is. Because if today was "disturbing" we would have been smashed by 3 or 4 goals.
  13. "petal" I think we both know which one of us is being rattled here it's not me lad. No I didn't go I decided not to by the sounds of it I'm glad I didn't if winning is making you describe the performance as embarrassing (you're words) I'm quite comfortable with that decision. We won enjoy it.
  14. Yep lets see what the manager says I reckon he won't use the terms embarrassment or a disgrace. Btw win lose or draw every Saturday night you are on here having a rant about somebody or something to do with OAFC (I get it when we lose and in some cases draw but not when we win) do you think maybe you need a different hobby because it's clearly making you miserable.
  15. To describe it as a "disgrace" or an an "embarrassment" when we've won the game away from home is hyperbolic its not a rational point of view. Getting beat 4-0 would have been a disgrace. A 1-0 win even if we were second best for a long period of the game will never be a disgrace unless we are playing the craggy island priest's over 65's 5 a side team.
  16. Some people just like the hyperbole. It sounds like it wasn't a great performance but I'd rather be a team who steals wins than be gallant losers.
  17. Upto 6th in the table sound like we stole it but if you want promotion you have to go and steal wins particularly away from home. I reckon we still need to see an improvement and Mellon will be more than aware of that but in the meantime I will take seeing us dig out wins.
  18. I'd expect a couple of clubs around us to pull out wins in the second half of their games. The important thing is we keep winning. Put this one to bed in the second half and if we are top 7 in an hours time I'll be very happy. EDIT: Just noticed a number of teams around us are not playing today as they or their scheduled opponents are in the FA cup so we can take advantage today.
  19. Was going to say apart from that first 9 games the results have seen us produce top 7 results. I wonder if sub consciously we've put the idea of a promotion chasing side on a pedestal that we are comparing it to what a promotion chasing side in league 1 looks like and expecting our side to look like one. We are trying to get out if the national league and to top 7 you don't have to be that good. It's a more than achievable.
  20. Probably not enough for us to judge as fans but from what Mellon has seen everyday in training for the last 2 months he hasn't considered either certainly not Willoughby who definitely hasn't been injured amd has only been on the fringes.
  21. I think I listened to an interview with Pete Wild after he left the club where he said the academy is the only part of the football club that makes a profit. Its not ideally what you would want but if we have to sell players to keep the a academy going and meaning less of them make the grade and hoping for the odd James Tarkowski comes through then it's a far better scenario than having no academy at all.
  22. So from those 2 clips he looks like a right footed left winger who likes to cut inside and score goals.
