  1. I find it hard to blame any of the managers who managed us during those 4 miserable years of regression all 10 effectively failed thecjob was impossible. Wellens has since won 2 promotions in the 5 years after he left ud which suggests he has something about him as a manager.
  2. We might not be able to get them all out the door quickly but if we move a couple out on loan and the other club pays even as just a small % of their salary then its money saved than can be used elsewhere. The length of contract thing well that's always a risk regardless of the signing you've just try to find a way to mitigate that regardless I suppose that'd why these days good scouting, statistical analysis and general research and profiling of players is done so much more deeply these days. Even then you won't get it right but if the tools are available to do this job of looking at players then I say use them as it will lessen the chances of getting it wrong in the long run.
  3. So Freeman Hogan Gardner Green Shelton and Nuttall all told to move on interesting. Slightly surprising considering some are currently in the side at the moment but at the same time not surprising I think we will make a fair bit of saving here even if we can get half of them off the books.
  4. He has higher standards than others yes he moans he's an aggressive bulldog type striker in the mold of Lee Hughes and Wayne Rooney they both moaned when things didnt go their way look at Haaland last week. Alot of strikers will do that they are often the most selfish players on the pitch that's why most aren't captains He's won us games this season and he will win us more if we get him the ball in the right parts of the pitch. If a by product of that is that he moans when things Don't go his way then so be it, If we are to do anything this season weather its getting into the play off mix or even winning the FA Trophy then a big part of that is going to be done by us creating more chances for him.
  5. When we are not having to put a centre back in midfield because we have knowonelse then tells us quite clearly where the problem is. If we start dominating games fail to score and James Norwood is moaning then I will see it as an issue but right now it simply isn't.
  6. I think they partly play on it in the summer aswell by the looks of the photos I saw on Google.
  7. Mellon seems to have found a settled side I wonder how much he trusts those not currently involved. This lot will come and play like their lives depend on it but I still expect a convincing victory.
  8. Well we've gone full strength not sure I'm keen on the idea I know we didn't play last week but I'd prefer it if we took this as a second priority.
  9. Anyone remotely showing any signs of fatigue or injuries should be rested. For the busy Christmas and new year period of fixtures and we need fresh legs going into that. I'd like to see Kurt Willoughby start this one give him a full 90 minutes to show what he's capable of. Norwood should be given the week off. Also perhaps a chance for any of the young players a go possibly.
  10. Would any of us swap it for supporting Anyonelse? We know its been shit but for better or worse this is our club and Boundary Park is our home/place of worship. Thats not necessarily to say we should put up and shut up, I felt quite inspired at times when people took up arms during the lemmies era to fight for the club I didn't think we had it in us, if we are not happy we are (within reason) entitled to say. Despite everything that's happened to us despite the endless false dawns where you hoped we turned the corner only for that hope to be extinguished faster than it arrived. We are still here, we are still standing and still fighting. I've waited too long for success to give up now, I reckon the rest of you feel the same.
  11. Mmmm yeah but it's kind of the statement of obvious isn't it. I think we can all work out we've been shit for a long time and are well overdue success.
  12. True but I'm not sure shutting the North Stand on health and safety grounds could be seen as a mistake. More an act of vindictiveness. If Barry's 17 years as a director was him giving his all for the club and putting the club first I'd dread to see what his idea of half arsing it and being out for himself looks like.
  13. Whatever happened to the "realisitic" fans? Paedo Kev is no longer trying to coach the team from the front row of the North Stand so Im guessing he no longer goes. Does Partington still go? I wonder what they got out of being unwaveringly loyal to the previous regime who damaged the club they clearly cared about and made the rest of the fanbase think they were nothing but a bunch of cranks.
  14. Good grief that sounds tough. Best of luck to you in your recovery.
  15. Surely it will have been the officials decision and not the players.
  16. Hes simultaneously telling us that free speech is dead while freely giving his opinion. It's as if he's losing the argument somehow.
  17. Hes a bitter little lonely man he will forever be remembered as a failure by the Oldham Athletic supporters, and that shit is never washing off. It doesn't matter what he says he is powerless now He can't do fuck all to damage us anymore no matter how hard he tries.
  18. 8 Games is too short to Say ST would have been a success or a failure and 8 Games is too short to say MM will either succeed or fail too (it may not work out for him yet if he doesn't succeed he will be in good company when taking on the Oldham managers job). Therefore we have to look at other factors when deciding who should be the candidate who will be best suited to the job, that's not double standards that's seeing the bigger picture. ST and NR while having some pretty good coaching experience have very little on their C.V.s interns of management experience to suggest that they can cut the mustard both are in their mid 50's yet Mellon despite being a younger man has a proven track record of winning promotions that's what it comes down too. If we start saying 8-10 games is enough to judge someone then we will continue to repeat the cycle of the last 20+ managers who have failed at the club. From what we know about both, Mellon's CV is far superior and if you were to ask the fans and boards of the other 23 clubs in the National League who they would plump for in the same situation, I think they would unanimously plump for Mellon.
