  1. Is their another manager in this division who has got 2 promotions from the National League currently managing another National League side?
  2. How would you know we've only been in it 2 years? Are you expecting Phil Parkinson or Dave Challinor? You sound like an average bloke who's demanding the perfect blonde with big tits who will do all the housework and pay half the bills and will blow you off everyday to just drop in your lap.
  3. It would be really dissapointing if we had to mothball the academy given the circumstances. I would understand why they would do it from a business point of view but from a footballing perspective abd what football clubs should be about it would be quite a sad day if we had to do that.
  4. You mean we should have appointed one who has taken 2 teams from this level into the football league?
  5. Something that did frustrate me though is am I right Rochdale were only restricted to selling the top "tier" of the chaddy yesterday. I'd actually quite like to see it relatively full. We turned down the chance to sell another 2000 tickets to Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago. I know their maybe reasons to mot give them a huge amount of fans but we turned down between what 30-40 grand of income on that one game alone and it would have enhanced the atmosphere significantly.
  6. It used to be the home end it's not anymore. As for the benches being on the Chaddy End side that's a definite no even if we were to move back to the Chaddy. Because the linesman on the main stand side runs down the RRE side of the ground. If you moved the dug outs you would be giving the away team the advantage as they could get in the linesman/referees assistants ear just to keep happy a few old timers. The only time we should change it is if crowds go up to a level when their is sufficient demand for home fans in the Chaddy and you could either split the chaddy half and half for home and away fans or give the away fans the small section of the RRE. But until then leave it as it is.
  7. They were capable of beating Kidderminster Fylde and Rochdale (all sides below us in the league) at home that would have seen us sat on 69 points in 6th spot currently they didn't do it and will now be sat watching the play offs from the sidelines rather than being in them.
  8. The way this season has finished is dissapointing the recruitment wasnt the best over the season, and even then this squad man for man was good enough to get into the play offs atleast. But To describe it as worse than the relegation seasons is total perspective free drivel.
  9. True but I feel Norwood not having a partner isn't helping here in the current system. It's a tough one do you play 2 uptop and sacrifice 1 in the middle and you get over run through the middle like we did in that first half against Fylde. In conclusion this team has played it's best football playing 3-5-2. I know we don't really have an RWB and Kitching prefers LB but with this current squad I think its the best formation. So team for Tuesday (My personal choice) Hudson Hobson Raglan Hogan Sutton McGahey Kitching Lundstrum Hope Dallas Norwood
  10. I like Sheron he always gives 110% but When Sheron came on for Gardner today we lost control of the midfield and we saw less of the ball. I'd have him in instead of Mcgahey. I'd certainly keep him around as he's clearly a good team player he will play anywhere and just get on with it. But next season if we want to get control of games I think we are going to need a better player in there.
  11. Yeah it wasn't a bad half Lundstrum Hope and Gardner all played well I thought. When we pressed we did it it very well.
  12. Hes Scottish he's naturally dour alot of dour Scots become good football managers.
  13. I agree with that sentiment very much so but if we start next season like we did this season then he's going to come under pressure it's the nature of the beast. Fortunately that is very low hurdle to get over. But any manager who goes on a bad run of form over 10 games becomes liable to the sack.
  14. My understanding is that both managers have completed autonomy when it comes to signing players. So while Darren Royle may have a roll to play in their signings, he certainly should be challenging Mellon on the January business and arguably he indulged David Unsworth more than he should have been. However it's both Unsworth and Mellon who have been/are responsible for the recruitment of 1st team players. Don't forget many were saying we wouldn't sack Unsworth because he is mates with Darren Royle how did that one turn out? So while challenging him on some of the decisions made are fine let's not assume its all his fault. Correct me if I'm wrong but it was he who approached the Rothwells about taking over anyway. I think we can all agree that recruitment needs to be better but let's not lose sight of the fact that it precisely 1 million times better than the previous regime. I back the current regime to atleast learn from some of there mistakes
  15. We've signed 2 right backs this season in Freeman and Sanchev it's just that neither have nailed down the position. Abit like the midfield situation we've signed enough players in that time to have solved the problem in the last 2 years but its still a weak area. So it's not like the problem area's haven't been acknowledged the solutions haven't been right. Which is why the board and team management need to get their heads together and have a Frank and honest discussion about why the recruitment hasn't been as good as it could be. I don't think it's been Beyond incompetent as you put it but it definitely has to improve.
  16. Doesnt matter how good he was for someonelse he was dog shit for us. He played 4 times and scored 1 goal costing us over £500k in wages he is the worst value for money signing in the clubs history and it was done completely over the managers head as a present to the fans. As presents go I'd rather have a lynx africa box set.
  17. I think we need to understand exactly what went wrong with the recruitment before we come to any conclusions on how to fix it. Its easy to sit their and say that it was all down to the fact that data analysis is wrong and we didn't do that int thee olden days without seeing exactly how and why players were signed. Some of the signings looked good on paper and haven't come good. Their is also a danger of flip flopping from one strategy to the next it's important we find a consistent approach that works for us. We still haven't dome anything as brain dead as signing Queensy Menig on £13.5k a week but we certainly need to get more value for money than we have been doing.
  18. Dallas has bagged 20 goals at NL level in the last 2 seasons he's a gun striker at this level. We didn't see any evidence of that for the first month or so but I see why in the last couple of weeks why he's been a sort after player. The fact him and Norwood haven't scored in a while tells us that their is a problem in the build up and our patterns of play. We had quite abit of the ball yesterday with McGahey Conlon and Gardner who did a solid enough job of making sure we had good possession yesterday but they are all playing 15-20 yards behind the striker. None of them can break the lines and get into the penalty area to support Norwood so he became isolated and started to brood.
  19. The recruitment of players will very much come under Micky Mellon, he very much needs to be supported by coaches, scouts data analysts aswell as the Board of Directors but at the same time I think its important he's challenged on decisions. We've made a few mistakes in the recruitment of players and their is quite abit of wastage in the budget that we are committed to paying for the next 12 months. We won't get every signing right but our signing hit to miss ratio needs to be alot better.
  20. We've no idea right now how the recruitment is going to go this Summer or how next season is going to pan out so making such a sweeping statement either for or against us going up next year is ludicrous. As for the last 2 seasons it's only wasted time if the owners/board of directors have learned nothing. We are better geared towards challenging for promotion than we were in August 22.
  21. Let's just say from that list you've given and we find a way to get out the door either by loan or moving on all those you highlighted, that does give us more than enough room to bring in enough good players to turn this squad around even if you have to slightly reduce the wage bill. Their are 15 names their you've highlighted so let's say we try reduce the squad size and bring in 10. If let's say 2 of them are flops 3 are adequate squad players and 5 go straight into the first choice starting 11 then we are strengthened significantly while probably spending less money. So it can be done we do need to be smarter though with recruitment.
  22. It gets to a point where the players know that if they don't turn up its the manager who comes under pressure and gets the blame then they just down tools knowing that they are safe. If we where to sack Mellon we'd be letting the players who've caved in over the last month completely off the hook. The process of sacking managers every 6 months over the last decade has failed beyond any reasonable doubt. We've got a manager who is under contract for another 2 years and has a proven record of promotion. The bare minimum he gets is this summer to build his own team. Even then we only entertain sacking him if we start like we did this season.
