  1. Yes definitely wide areas and creativity are the issues in our team. We need a magic man someone who can male things happen in the final third. We have Devran Green who can do it a little bit but not consistently. So I would say 2 wide players who have the courage to get on the ball and try things. I think if you did that you will see more from Tom Conlon who is the one midfielder that we have who has abit of quality on the ball but he needs runners or players who will show for him in good positions particularly in wide positions which will allow him to spread the ball. So 2 wide players preferably with abit of pace and trickery who can create chances. We still need a first choice right back it's a mystery why in the 2 seasons of the National League but we haven't. It's quite possible a decent right back can not only add to is defensively but can also be a creative force with over lapping runs and good crosses. For our strikers we have Norwood Garner on the payroll next season I believe Fondops Contract is up but I'd keep him on. So we'd need to find another who can complement them. All 3 are the wrong side of 30 so I'd be looking for a younger player with pace who can run the channels. On paper Andrew Dallas ticks these boxes (he's also scored 20 goals at NL level in the last 2 years) but for some reason it hasn't worked for him here it's abit of mystery why he hasn't got going. If we are to make a move for him then we'd have to find a way to get more out of him. Apart from that I'm pretty happy with the centre of defence Left back and goal keeper. The centre midfield while has been a concern but I don't think it's as bigger problem as the wise areas. As said earlier Conlon has ability on the ball he just needs runners and players who can get into space. Hammond has potential and Sheron who divides opinion sometimes is very much a team player who we know we are always going to get 100% effort from. If we sign creative players and tell him to just go win the ball and give it the ball to them he will be perfectly fine. He does need those players around him. The final thing is that all the players we sign need to be tough mentally. You don't have to be a physically big player to be tough mentally but we need players who can deal with the expectation of challenging for promotion of being expected to win regularly particularly at Boundary Park as while we can hugely supportive can at times feel intimidating for some of our players, they need to be able to deal with the moans and groans if things don't go right. This will be difficult for creative players who we need to take risks and try things but it needs to happen if we are to go up.
  2. I think their was a time in the early 90s when you would see John Hallworth come out collect a cross and bowl it out to a winger or a full back. Peter Schmeichel was legendary for doing this as he could throw the ball to the halfway line. You don't see keeper's throw the ball out quickly anymore. However goalkeepers today are far far better with the ball at their feet and every now and then will put a quick ball forward to start a counter attack. Ederson at Man City is probably the best example of this Now not many goalkeeper's in the world certainly non at this level are capable of distributing the ball aswell as him. But perhaps it is something we should look to work on but you need players who are going to be alive to this I don't think we are a counter attacking team. Maybe if you have Green on the wing then an early release to him is probably your best bet. Either that or if you have Norwood and Fondop uptop a quick release for them to fight it out with centre backs might be a good opportunity for a quick counter attack.
  3. How many tickets have they given us? They have a big away end compared to some of the bus stops that count as away ends in this division. We need to be filling it and bringing our 12th man for this one it could be crucial.
  4. Me personally? 75 points will get us over the line definitely 5 wins 1 draw allowing for 1 defeat might even get us 5th if we are lucky. It might be less than that 4 wins gets us to 71 points that was enough for Bromley last season who finished 7th that would be touch and go depending on other teams. 74 was enough for Chesterfield in 2021/22 but that was on a 44 game season Prior to that you have to go back to 18/19 for a 46 game season where Eastleigh secured 7th on 74 points. So I'd be aiming at 75 points to be sure of getting in the play offs. Which probably means that each game from now on must be treated as must win.
  5. I think we are at a point now where dropping points will hurt us more. A defeat on Saturday won't kill off our chances of promotion but it will really damage them. I guarantee that all the clubs around us will drop points between now and the end of the season but we don't want to be relying on them to drop points and us to win games We've got to make sure we take care of our own games now and get the amount of points required.
  6. Connor Macleney stats 20/21 Macleney got 21 goals in all competitions 17 of which were in the league. Very impressive in a team that was nowhere near going up and a club that was a shambles off it.
  7. Teams often start getting nervous and start wobbling when they get close to the finishing line. Some others find an extra gear and pull off results that you wouldn't expect them too we showed glimpses of that on Saturday, we need to turn it on against Dagenham on Saturday.
  8. He reminded me of Gerald off Clarksons farm. Wise words.
  9. They should be a sitting duck if we need a win and we can't beat Wealdstone in this fixture then we don't deserve to be in the play offs it's as simple as that.
  10. I think he wanted somewhere outside of London but was seen as parochial and had enough "Daily" readers. It could be worse I live in Hadfield which for those of you who don't know is famous as the home of Roysten Vassey the opening credits you can almost make out my house its fimed at the end of my street. In fact when they did the reboot a few years ago I got a letter through the door asking if we could potentially use it in the making of the league of gentlemen.
  11. Absolutely everyone will come out the woodwork for this one it might be under 20k though but it will be atleast 15k.
  12. Wealdstone have us last game of the season so I'm hoping by that point they are safe and are just going through the motions. Ideally we will be cemented in the play offs by then so the only thing that we are playing for is which place in the play offs we occupy.
  13. I heard a few things about Sharp and he was less than complimentary about us in his autobiography when he was given the managers job. He wasn't helped at all in that period it had to be said being promised funds to improve the squad and then being told to sell people, as the rot set in and the club really needed change from the very top but as a manager he stunk the place out.
  14. Yep as I said in a previous post it's the business end of the season now so games become more and more critical we have 7 Cup finals now and potentially 3 more after that, but in a good way though. We are mid March and we are challenging for the play offs not counting down to 50 points it's a good thing and we should enjoy the ride even if we don't go up this season just getting into the play offs would while not being worthy of an open top bus it would represent an important milestone in our journey back to the football league. Certainly when you consider the wreckage the club was in less than 2 years ago.
  15. I feel like Michael when he tells Alan he's never had a cup of beans? Awww you're in for a treat Mr Partridge.
  16. Oh I think it's nicely taken the edge of this thread you've done us all a favour I was tempted to join in with the telling certain posters to go stand near a cliff earlier in the thread but wiser thoughts prevailed this time. But definitely try I'm Alan Partridge seasons 1 and 2 it's classic British Comedy from what can now be seen as a golden era of sitcoms. You are also definitely of the right age to get it too.
  17. Excuse me are you Alan Partridge Yes You dropped your Radio Norwich I'd card.
  18. We are definitely not alone other club's fans will target the player(s) who they consider the weakest link unfortunately it's a sad state of affairs where Social Media creates an opportunity for footballers get brutally judged online. We are all guilty of that to some extent (I certainly am) some are far worse than it than others. I think what sets us apart is that we have seen nothing but failure for 30 years we've never been through the process of growth resulting in 1 maybe 2 promotions and a growth of the club. I think if you asked fans of clubs who have gone through that I.e. Luton they will probably tell you that the journey they went on a huge number of ups and downs. It comes back to that meme you often see on social media between what people to percieve growth to look like a long straight line upwards and what it actually looks like which is a line that zig zags up and down left right in a circle before you get to the destination. We are on that journey right now we are nowhere near the zenith of that journey and I've come to accept that not everyone will see the progress being made right now but it is being made.
  19. It seems to be our Trolls and there trolls have abit of a tit for tat on Facebook and I'm sure happens on twitter too.
  20. I find that dissapointing too. I'm sure he's frustrated by not winning today and yes maybe he did have to be somewhereelse but at the end of the day he's employed by the club and given a very good contract and the people in the sponsors lounge will be paying a big contribution to that contract and will have been supporting the club a long time before he came and after he's gone. He's not going to get a Jeremy Paxmam style grilling from anyone they will just want to hear him talk. It's not asking too much. I went in earlier this season and Will Sutton came in before the game, and Mark Kitching came in after. Both of whom were Gentlemen and were both Professional if they can do that, then it shouldn't be too much to ask from the star striker.
  21. The ignore facility is best deployed for such fuckwits.
  22. Reluctant to say that games are must win as they haven't been so far this season but with 7 games to go I think we are in that territory now. We sit on 59 points 5 wins and a draw allowing for 1 defeat gets us to 75 points that will be enough to get in the play offs. The 2 local aways at Altrincham on Easter Monday and Halifax (whenever that is) look really crucial as they both the teams around us. The Run in Dagenham A - Won't be easy but winnable we've got to go there and get 3 points a scruffy 1-0 will do Fylde H - Need to put these away get a good win that should ferment us in the play offs. Altrincham A - the toughest of the final games Mustn't lose a repeat of earlier this season will be enough. Halifax TBA - another tough one again Mustn't lose but hopefully with a big away following we can get something. They have had the Indian sign over us in our 2 years in the NL with 3 loses to them on what will be a tough pitch I'd take a point if offered. Rochdale H - Their season will be over but that may allow them to play with freedom a local Derby and a decent crowd could see them stick their chest out still we've got to out them away and get the win. Oxford City A- Will be relegated by this point but again with nothing to lose they might play with a new found freedom still we will need to out them away and get 3 points. Wealdstone H - If we pull out the results that I say we can above (4 wins 2 draws) we will probably have top 7 all but sewn up or atleast in our hands They will hopefully be safe by then and be bringing there flip-flops. If its in our hands going into this game and we fuck it up we don't deserve top 7. We could of course be going into this with a chance of 4th or 5th if we are I hope we take advantage. Either way get them put away. Absolutely no reason why we can't get the results required to get top 7 certainly if we play like we did today against what will be lesser opponents.
  23. Quite a bold move by National League TV to not show about 10% of the actual game. I'm not seeing it catching on in sports broadcasting though.
  24. Same here first time I've used this and for an hour I wondered what the problem was now I see why.
