Struck me first half that Byrne got really angry when Fane misguided a pass which would've created an attack from some intricate passing. Think players have to get used to his limitations.

League 1 is definitely his limit, but Byrne is almost the perfect partner for him: drops deep a lot which makes every pass more simple for Fane, meaning he doesn't have to get exposed playing between the lines.

Equally when Byrne didn't receive the ball he stood there and made no attempt to win it back. We had 3 up front really such is lack of effort off the ball.

He's a wonderful talent on it mind. Last night was more proof that Fane should be one of the first names on the team sheet. He's a brilliant ball winner.

He's a player who could be useful at this level in the right circumstances.  Unfortunately for him I don't think Shez believes he's good enough on the ball to warrant a place in the team.  I'd pick him ahead of Banks considering the other players we have but I'd rank him below the rest of our central midfielders.

He's completely different to the rest of our central midfielders in that he can tackle and press. I'd have him and the lad from city in if I had my way with Gardner pulling the strings.

Although Shez is only gradually coming round to the idea that you need a tackler in midfield.

  3. Its absolutely no coincidence that as soon as Fane came on we took control. People will choose to focus on blaming Banks but to allow Gardner and Byrne to play Fane has to play. Baffling that Shez and his coach load of coaches can't  see this.

First 30 minutes without enough steel in midfield we practically had 3 players out of the game. 2 strikers and Bryne who was playing a free role without any defensive responsibility.

  4. Shez has to shoulder a large chunk of the blame with some baffling tactical decisions so far this season.

How you can line up in any game of football without a ball winner is crazy but to do against a very good side like Wigan even more so. His failure to sign a left back is a big problem too.

Fane and Gardner would of given us a glimmer of hope and prevented their midfield runners coasting in without being tracked in the first half.

Assuming serious, which is hard to tell on here these days...

What at weight is he and what should he be?

What are his fitness levels/anaerobic capabilities etc and what should they be?

Well he's visably over weight at the minute and its showed in his first 2 performances.

Who knows in answer to your questions. However if he had a fitness plan for pre season he hasn't stuck to it.

Ignoring all this investment nonsense people actually think we should drop Gerrard? Dear me. The only reason we stayed up was the solid defence. Clarke and Gerrard need to play as many games as possible if we are to stay up.

Yes for Stott. Its completely unacceptable that he has come back from pre season still over weight. We're supposed to be a professional football club.
