Yep Davies was unplayable for first 10 minutes then held his groin for the rest of the match. He must of been injured as he didn't make a run after that piece of magic from Placide.
-
Kean Bryan could work alongside Clarke and Gerrard.

Struck me first half that Byrne got really angry when Fane misguided a pass which would've created an attack from some intricate passing. Think players have to get used to his limitations.
League 1 is definitely his limit, but Byrne is almost the perfect partner for him: drops deep a lot which makes every pass more simple for Fane, meaning he doesn't have to get exposed playing between the lines.
Equally when Byrne didn't receive the ball he stood there and made no attempt to win it back. We had 3 up front really such is lack of effort off the ball.
He's a wonderful talent on it mind. Last night was more proof that Fane should be one of the first names on the team sheet. He's a brilliant ball winner.
-
They should of had 2 more pens with Banks walking too.
-
Give him more time.
-
Good performance on the whole and plenty of positives but until we get a centre half and a keeper we'll continue to lose games.

Given Gerrards obesity and our lack of pace at the back I think we need to find a way of getting some more game time to either Stott or Edmundson.

He's a player who could be useful at this level in the right circumstances. Unfortunately for him I don't think Shez believes he's good enough on the ball to warrant a place in the team. I'd pick him ahead of Banks considering the other players we have but I'd rank him below the rest of our central midfielders.
He's completely different to the rest of our central midfielders in that he can tackle and press. I'd have him and the lad from city in if I had my way with Gardner pulling the strings.
Although Shez is only gradually coming round to the idea that you need a tackler in midfield.

Michael Ngoo looked decent on YouTube.

Its absolutely no coincidence that as soon as Fane came on we took control. People will choose to focus on blaming Banks but to allow Gardner and Byrne to play Fane has to play. Baffling that Shez and his coach load of coaches can't see this.
First 30 minutes without enough steel in midfield we practically had 3 players out of the game. 2 strikers and Bryne who was playing a free role without any defensive responsibility.

Davies was excellent in my opinion. Relentless shift up front and a constant menance. Linked well with Doyle too.

Spot on. Shez can rightfully claim this is not his team. And a couple of the signings we have made, I fully believe Corney is behind a couple of them rather than Shez.
Whilst I agree he needs to get on with it and get a tune out of them. A good start would be to stop implementing crazy tactics too.

Some fucking belting managers and coaches on here in the wrong game. We'd be alrite if we sacked our veteran manager and employed one of you ?
Tbf Shezs tactical naviety so far this season indicates he still has a lot to learn.

I really enjoyed reading that and found myself agreeing with it all.

Shez has to shoulder a large chunk of the blame with some baffling tactical decisions so far this season.
How you can line up in any game of football without a ball winner is crazy but to do against a very good side like Wigan even more so. His failure to sign a left back is a big problem too.
Fane and Gardner would of given us a glimmer of hope and prevented their midfield runners coasting in without being tracked in the first half.

I wonder how Osei or Fawns would do playing off Holloway....
4-2-3-1 is the future.

Robinsons first major mistake. Changing a winning formula and going 4-4-2 just to squeze our marque signing in, Billy McKay.

Flynn had his best game for us against this mob last season, get him in.
Yep,
Off a lone striker, which is exaclty what we should play tomorrow but Shez still thinks its 1998.

And the fans went for his head after 1 game (not 2) and went about demanded 2 upfront. Which led to the Posh twatting.
Absolutely. As soon as Oldham fans realise (and shez) that 2 strikers up front doesn't make you more attacking the better.

The coaching staff probably know and are presumably ok with it. It's not all about abs and speed. Experience and nous go a long way, especially at this level.
I agree to an extent. But I think Gerrards days at using these skills you mention are numbered.

We've played one league game and already the knives are out and the FUD is spreading.
OWTB never ceases to amaze. I thought Shez would get at least 10 games before an inquisition started
Is it not a appropriate to question his weight then?

Assuming serious, which is hard to tell on here these days...
What at weight is he and what should he be?
What are his fitness levels/anaerobic capabilities etc and what should they be?
Well he's visably over weight at the minute and its showed in his first 2 performances.
Who knows in answer to your questions. However if he had a fitness plan for pre season he hasn't stuck to it.

Ignoring all this investment nonsense people actually think we should drop Gerrard? Dear me. The only reason we stayed up was the solid defence. Clarke and Gerrard need to play as many games as possible if we are to stay up.
Yes for Stott. Its completely unacceptable that he has come back from pre season still over weight. We're supposed to be a professional football club.

Bryne off Davies in a 4-2-3-1.
But as we play 2 up top I'd revert to a back 4 with Dummigan at rb.
