Out of interest what’s your view on Banks?
Fane is one of the best physical midfielders we have had in my memory, he is a beast of a man. However, even the yard dogs could pass it more than 10 yards.
He can pass it 10 yards. His distribution has improved dramatically. He is the least of our problems and one of the few players currently doing their job.

Few people will be surprised to hear that I consider Ryan McLaughlin's best position to be right back. Saying that so did Liverpool.
He's not in the least bit intelligent enough to play up front.

Tbf I said that to the old boy next to me last night! ?
Still showed enough interest to put it in though didn’t he? You know as well as I do some strikers see a goal within a half arsed performance as ‘job done’ and tbf £17m is peanuts for a Premier league striker. Given my disinterest of all things Greedy League has he actually played for the first? And actually done anything?
Back to the original point I thought young George has put in two solid performances. The fact he can play on the left is a bonus given our injury problems.
I went with a mate of mine who is a Leicester fan. He played against Sevilla in the Champions League and that's about it.
I was looking forward to seeing Harvey Barnes after his loan spell at Barnsley. Assist aside he offered nothing either!

Apart from scoring the equaliser...
Come on Paul, you'd of slotted that home, our centre halves barely broke sweat.

Can’t buy that experience BP
It'll do his confidence a world of good for sure.
However my suspicions prior to the match were correct. Musa had absolutely no interest last night.

This and another centre half and we are set.
We need a left back too.

Not a fan of Edmondson but today I thought he grew into the game and was excellent. Dominant in the air too. He should retain his place.
-
Thought Davies was bullied by Wood really. A pumped up Davies can be unplayable at this level, we just don't see it very often.

He was dogshit but it looks like there's something there.
Let's see in a few weeks...
A non tackling central midfielder. He's right up your street!

Rumours Byrne could sign for them in time
Rumours where?

Placide at fault for Bristol Rovers goal for me. Rush of blood.

I think his form has declined with the rest of the teams. 6 weeks ago people were saying he's better than Ripley. He'll regain his form I'm sure.

And I have no issue with that, enjoy it Gaz. It's those in denial of the consequences or claiming anyone who doesn't go is a lesser fan that I take issue with.
Absolutely, my main reason for going is because my circumstances dictate I can't go to as many games as I'd like. This one I can get to, so I'll be there. Totally respect others reasons for not.

I'm having it because I fucking love watching Oldham Athletic.

What did the groundsman say?

I'll wait and see if the new players are eligible before making a decision.

Is it not more likely to be us missing Doyle than having Jewell that's been the reason for the downturn in form?
That said, playing 4-5-1 is just silly..
We played 4-3-3

Yeah, I'd like to see that.
He does retain and carry the ball a hell of a lot when he's deeper though. Surprised you'd be ok with losing that...
Of course he can, Gardner should be doing it but he hid completely against Fleetwood.

I thought he was at the heart of everything we tried to do, as ever.
I understand the idea that he tried to involve himself in too much but he'd have pissed Man of the Match had he not dropped that bollock for their second and some of the things he tried had come off and we'd won as a result...
(As they have in past matches and will do in future matches.)
To drop him is a ludicrous idea even by OWTB standards.
Don't see how its ludicrous as it would give us an actual shape ( assuming we go with 2 strikers).
I'd go with him as the no.10 off a lone striker to allow him to pull the strings higher up. Especially now Doyle is out.
I agree he was at the heart of everything too. But my question relates to when he went into central midfield. But that where are opinions differ, as you think central midfielders aren't required to tackle!

Byrne should be told to stop dropping so deep and not try to be Mr do it all. He can score goals so you don't want to see him fiddling about in front of the back four.
Although not his best position I can see Gardner be moved to the right wing as sometimes I think he and Byrne get in each other's way.
Gardner was as poor as I've seen him against Fleetwood. To be fair to Byrne he was at least trying to pick the ball up off the centre halves. Didn't seem like Gardner had the confidence to do this.

Is this ridicule in a different thread or can I sign up here?
Feel free but you will join the ever expanding list of latics fans who don't really understand football.
With Doyle out he gets in our strongest team off Holloway or Davies in a role which allows him to continue to offer nothing defensively.

Would I be right in saying you were impressed with Fane's performance yesterday despite it being tarnished by those rampaging forward runs?
He was our best player by a country mile. I wish he'd have the confidence to make more forward runs.
What did you make of Jack Bryne in central midfield? We could go back to your way of thinking ( and shez's) and lose every week because we are overrun in midfield though.
-
I have been ridiculed for suggesting we drop Bryne for the good of the team but I stand by it. I also don't think we can play 2 strkers and allow him a totally free role.

More comfortable than Clarke in a back 3.
Good point. So did he start Dummigan as a 3rd centre half? That's up there with Josh Law in centre mid.
Worst defence in the top 5 divisions!!

One things for sure... Clarke would not be out injured like Gerrard is. He is a model pro who keeps himself in perfect shape.
