I think he'd partner Gardner better than Missilou
Just about to post the same. Tried an over elaborate pass on a few occasions but he's everywhere as a few of them.

I'm not suggesting we don't need to upgrade and he couldn't get any worse but Coke's performance was better. Won a fair few headers and looked tidy first half.
It's the 2 year deal I can't fathom.
-
Don't think I'm bothering. 15 quid is steep too!
-
I honestly thought the effort was there but we are severely lacking in quality.
-
Not a fan of Gardner particularly but he has been excellent. Could be worth 10 goals too.

I know we had injuries, but that's definitely the lowest I've ever felt watching us.
A team that's a long way from competing in the basement division. It hurts.
It'll compete, but we want more.

Liked that Brangers first thought was to get at his full back. A little headless but an encouraging debut.
-
Baxter in for Miller and play him as a no.10 behind Surridge.
-
Assuming we have a clear social media policy, then he won't a leg to stand on.

Problem is, he didn't do much 'talking on the pitch' during the second half of the season. In fact, at times it was like playing with 10 men. I appreciate he was played ridiculously out of position but sulking, not tracking back, not putting in a shift and standing there arguing with fellow teammates has nothing to do with being played out of position.
If....and that's a big if...there is a taker for him, fire him off and reinvest the 6k a week in somebody who maybe isn't Byrne's quality but a person with the right attitude, application and endeavour can be every bit as creative and important to the side.
Should we not have any takers and it gets to the window then we do, I accept have to try and get him back involved but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
One of the very few on here who talks sense.

Haha! Succinct! I was being serious btw - I know of others who've phoned up and bought theirs.
I know cheers will do the same!

Thanks for the well thought out reply.

Is there scope for anymore tickets? Can't get up there till Friday.

Did Ishmael Miller play?

With regard to Clarke yes he looks after himself well but he will be 37 at the end of the season is he going to stand upto the rigours of a 50 game season in league 2?
I'd imagine so. Don't think he's missed a game for about 5 years.

Yep. Did he ever really give Doyle up top on his own and Byrne as a number 10 a proper go?
Not that I remember. It might have worked with Doyle pre injury but doubt it would after he came back.

Cheers. Is that similar to last year?
Think it's slightly up. The ticket office tweeted it recently when asked!

I'd suggest Wellens played him RM because he wanted to play 2 up top and this was the place he could fit him in. We could have the same problem with Baxter.

So how many did we shift in the end?

. Love this board me.
Slightly tongue in cheek that comment from me.
But there are legs to my point that you condemn so patronisingly. Our form came from Fane winning the ball and JB getting close to him to receive the ball and pull the strings. Either you didn't notice that or don't understand that to pull the strings you need to win the ball first.

He was average at best after he signed permanently but that doesn't change my mind. I think people are forgetting just how good he was before Christmas - it's definitely worth the risk in a lower Division.
Ousmane Fane was a big reason in his good form.

We signed a player, not a priest.
Byrne has the quality to make a real difference next season. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want him playing for us, when he's clearly of a talent level higher than League Two.
I think you are allowing his talent to cloud your judgement.
Do we have the same kind of player in the squad? Yes
Where else can he play apart from no.10? Nowhere ( unless we play 3-5-2)
Is he on a good wedge? Yes I'm sure
Does he have a bad atttiude? We don't know, but there is a strong chance he does.
Talk of commanding 250k for him is obscene .
-
I don't like him at all. That said there is always a responsibility of the manager to get a tune out of him.

Is there any real evidence that Byrne has had a serious attitude problem whilst at OAFC? Preferably something more substantial than petty bickering with Wellens who always seemed to treat JB like a naughty infant...
I say the majority of performances since he signed a permanent contract with us would be decent evidence.

Special mention for Lang who ran his bollocks off.
Should partner Surridge on Saturday.
