Can we not call them "FC" for fuck's sake?
I'll continue to refer to them as FC even more due to your aggressive response.

The below is an email from one of the founders of FC sent today:
Ben
Thanks for coming to the game last night. I enjoyed your company. Hopefully we will learn a lesson for next year about admission prices but that apart I thought we managed the facilities very well: food, real ale, stewarding.
I thought the atmosphere was good for preseason with both sets of supporters engaging in banter together - no hassle just good fun.
On that note your supporters deserve loads of credit for coming to Broadhurst. I don't think I have ever stood with Latics fans before but I really enjoyed it. When you speak to your fellow fans let them know their attendance was really appreciated by our club.
Hope you have a good season. Its difficult to gauge from last night but to me you looked pretty good. Bit more thinking for us to do but hopefully we will get there.
Catch up soon
Roy

Personally would say we're desperate for a left back. We don't have a natural one at the club.

Nope. Not having that. Letting your club captain and only true leader that isn’t an injury or sending off waiting to happen leave in January was the single biggest reason.
Spot on.

I'm not sure what he is. Runs a lot without really tackling, creating or scoring.
Happy to give him another go in L2 but I'd be delighted if we could secure a fee for him.
-
Personally don't want Hunt at left back. Really upsets the balance of the team and I don't think he offers enough going forward.
How did Andy Taylor do? Fits the bill in that he has a left foot, is experienced and has played the majority of his career a level up.

Baxter off injured.

Mollo has played at some very good clubs and is 28. Doubt it's him?
-
Sounds like AL's due diligence was particularly diligent. There shouldn't have been any nasty surprises.
-
Hamer was very impressive at the end of the season and will learn so muchfrom playing alongside Clarke.
A real threat from set pieces too and has an excellent throw. Hopefully room for him and George.
-
I'd go 3-5-2 so we don't get overrun in midfield and still have 2 up top.
I don't believe Baxter and Byrne could play in the sake team but if they are to, then thos formation might allow for it.
-
Hamer ahead of Edmundson in the pecking order at centre half? He would be for me. Like them both though.
Expect we'll sell Dummigan and shift Hamer out there.

Hopefully they can keep Jack Byrne on side by treating him better than Wellens did - I would be gutted if he left.
Based on the Byrne of last season, I would be more than happy for him to move on. However I'm intrigued to see if Frankie can motivate him so we see the talent he has.

Is that 3 off the books now and Duffus off the wage bill for a bit? Be nice for a few more to go and a signing or two!

What do you think?

absolutely terrible player who should be nowhere near an English professional league
You are probably one of the people who said that Whittaker was better than Wellens.

How much are they paying us? We've only just extended his contract...
Nothing has been announced that he has signed the deal on the table has it?
-
I'm happy enough with it. I'l be right behind him!

Jack Byrne is a shining example of how a bad team spirit can take you down, even if you have better players than teams around you in the table. In my opinion, catering for him in the team was one of the main reasons we got relegated. Had far, far worse players in a team than last season yet will to win and team spirit kept us up time and time again. Looked a million dollars until we made investment in him before acting like a spoilt child virtually the minute things began to turn to shit.
Sheer brilliant on his day, but an utter shithouse. Pulled out of a couple of challenges in the 2-3 matches I saw in the second half of the season. Really can't abide that as a supporter, no matter how fucking talented the player is. Peterborough, or whoever is in for him are more than welcome to him.
Comfortably the best post on here in a long time.

What is the conclusion? He's way to good for league 1 let alone league 2, potentially a top end championship player but only worth 250k plus add on's because it's still just potential at the moment? From what i can work out you must think he's a mid table championship team central midfielder at present if he's way to good for league 1 but not yet a top end championship player, in which case he must be worth more than 250k plus add on's you would think.
He still has loads to prove so should stay with us and show he is capable in L2. In terms of talent he probably is top end L1 but that talent has hardly shone through.
He only showed he was capable in L1 when on loan. Once he signed permanently and teams worked him out he was useless. I'd take a fee for him, 100k would be amazing but I can't see anyone paying that kind of money.

Byrne is way too good for L1 let alone L2, he’s potentially a top end championship player. Very similar mould to a Wes Hoolahan in his style of play.Pleasure to watch even if Wellens seemed to lose the plot with him towards the end of the season. Clever investment by AL to sign him in Jan. As he wants away I personally think £250k plus with sell on clause is good business as at the moment he is still just potential
I honestly don't understand how you have come to this conclusion. He has some talent yes but he's completely unproven and rumoured to be a bad egg in the dressing room..

Alongside Fane in the holding midfielder role.

Not true, Gardner's career goals are far superior.
What people don't realise is Gardner is an attacking midfielder used here in a holding role.
I was referring to last season where he had a 1 goal in 50 ratio.

You must have noticed surely Gardner played with an injury, I personally wouldn't have played an unfit player, but when you look at the alternatives the manager must have thought he had little choice.
Not really but my view was awful.
