  1. just read the article and its Dave Penney who doesnt want the rugby playing on the pitch - football only

another blow for the most succesful team in the town, they will bounce back like always and one day take over latics as the most watched team in the 'town'

    edit - forgot link

The rugby should try and sort out their differences with Ashton. It was brilliant when they played there. Not too farand a proper atmosphere not seen since they left Sheddings.

  2. Whodat!

Black and gold baby, black and gold....

The Saints look awesome. But there's always one team that stands out during the regular season and then falls short in the playoffs (a la New England 2007) so I'd be wary about that.

I can't understand what's going on with the Giants. It's a strange one.

Still, lots of football to be played..

  3. I thought it was a great game ;)

The Patriots looked slick and like things are coming together, admittedly against poor opposition. That Brady could throw 2 INTs and still cruise to victory spoke volumes about the Bucs.

A shame really 'cos a one-sided game in any sport isn't brilliant to see. But not many people left before the end and it was a good atmosphere, despite everyone who was not a Pats fan cheering for the Bucs.

From a press point of view it was a revelation. Locker room after the game and interviews with Brady, Belichick and Welker. No PR men there to veto questions and no time limit. They even threw us what was left of the team's post match meal on the way out.

    A refreshing change.

  4. How exactly was it scabby? More passing yards, more rushing yards, longer time of possession, more third down conversions, and crucially, more points. On the day, the best team won.

Oh come on. Manning threw that pass with his eyes shut and it was a fluke the fella came down with it. Fair play, in that game the Giants made more plays but NE was the best team in the league that year by a mile.

  5. Hats off to New Orleans... Clearly now the faves in the NFC... Good defence and awesome offense..

Giants...well wow... Started this season thinking we had a really weak offense.. Turns out our defence is AWOL...

Glad we had this loss now and not later in the season... Wake up call... If it was our offense that had failed today I would of been worried... but the defence failing is something I am confident about us being able to recover from...

I had a bad feeling going into this game as I felt the Saints at home was going to be a very tough game. I am not surprised we lost but I am disapointed in the manner our defence has failed.

Big game next weekend for us to restore some pride and its a home game....

As for the Giants being "found out"...what a joke statement... :) Easy games plus facing a very good team away from home is always going to end in a wake up call...

    Speaking of beating gash teams...

    HT: Tennessee 0-45 New England

  6. Well and truly found out. Out banged up secondary is no match to the best offense in the league, no doubt about it.

One bad game, away from home, against an exceptionally talented team. As bad as we have been tonight, you are watching two of the NFC's playoff teams this season. And I doubt anyone would be surprised if it turns out to be the NFC's one and two this season.

First decent team they've played this season.

  7. Teams I like: Obviously Arizona. Washington (Gary Clark), the Giants (LT), San Diego (LT), Indianapolis and now the Saints. (Not including the college teams like Penn state, my favourite team of all, Florida and USC)

Teams I hate: New England, San Fran, Miami.

But, if I get them in my face I'm willing to hate any of them.

It's over now. Found out tonight, NY.

  8. how are you trying to balance it out? by saying the fans dont help aswell?

if he didnt make horrendous bloopers, then the fans wont be on his back

but the sad truth is he makes horrendous bloopers and should not be playing - simple as that

his form pre today and post hartlepool is going against him in the argument by which i mean whether he is in form or out of form he will continue to make bloopers

I seem to remember Jon Hallworth copping a load of flack in a pre-season match against Bradford. There were rumours we were going to get Andy Goram back and the fans were even chanting his name. But Hallworth showed character and went onto have a cracking season and prove his critics wrong.

Can't see Brill doing that, unfortunately.

  9. Cmon Jacko you know better than that - the third he was exposed on.

2nd he had a mare agreed. Brill is also young for a keeper, did you see Friedel today or do you remember James at Watford. All have made high profile mistakes yet they weren't left to rot on the scrap heap.

And before you go on about the sympathy bloke we are all professionals in our own spheres yet there aren't many sacked for making a handful of mistakes.

He came for crosses today and took them well, he made 1 rick after a couple at the start of the season thats all.

He didn't come for the cross for the first goal. Well, he did, but then he changed his mind. I'm sorry, but he's made his quota of blunders for the season and we're not even close to Christmas.

  10. even though i was only 11 years old, John Holdsworth wouldnt have known what had hit him if id have got my hands on him

that disallowed try will haunt me for the rest of my life :disappointed:

i might get my Roughyed books out

It was Knowsley Road wasn't it?

Allegedly as he walked off to a torrent of abuse the ref turned and said: "You've already got one team at Wembley that weekend haven't you?"

  11. Yes, that must have been one of the first as the film (Downfall) was made in 2004. It also made it into the "Top 25" (how many are there??) in an article about the videos in the Telegraph:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news...h-watching.html

"The parodies are so ubiquitous on YouTube that they have even spawned self-referential meta-parodies" you don't see that kind of writing in the Chron!

It has been done loads, but that's still funny. Especially the line about Shaw.
