  1. This is brilliant! Vote for him to be sacked and your vote gets rejected! Tell me. have you ever been to Florida? Hanging chad.
  2. They won away for the first time in ten games I think, against 'a better club' and deserved it. They can celebrate how they want for me. You should have seen me last year at Elland Road and Goodison. And at least when they hoofed it it went where they meant it to.
  3. shouldn't that be favourite old fashioned sweets? The pedant police
  4. so is the helmet the one who yells at his number ten to cover at throw ins and when he doesn't takes him of at half time or the one who stands motionless for 90 minutes on the touchline whilst his side fall apart?
  5. Not sure my lass should write to Greegs and tell him we have a giant snail named after him..... Don't think we'd get a signed photo back.
  6. Funnily enough I was thinking of this topic only this afternoon................ how many of us have had pets named after Latics players? I had 2 goldfish in the mid '80's called Joe and Willie, and the day after we beat Leeds 4-2 at home in the Littlewoods Cup, prob Nov 87, we got 2 cats from the CPL and called them Tommy and Denis after the 2 ex Leeds players who had scored for us that night. To keep the tradition going my daughter has 2 Giant African Land Snails called Lidds and Greegs. Anybody else out there got anything? A rat called Allott or a Whippet called JJ? A snake called Porter? Anything with a limp called Killen? Let's hear them.
  7. I think you meant 'can't' Razza but I can, from the moment the BBC journalist thought of a headline including the words' footballer, tribute and model' he must have been wetting himself. Pity the poor lass wasn't a royal and he would have been on a bonus.
  8. Gordon Bennett that sounds a bit out of left field. I presume that when Maher came on Lomax went to RB Hazell to CB and Jones to LB, Taylor RW and Whittaker LW or was it not that simple?
  9. and a fit striker has just put County one up at Yeovil
  10. net being the appropriate part of the word as that is where he has just managed to boot one for County
  11. Or kelvin at RB and Stammy at LB. Have I missed something , where is our prolific loanee from PNE? I thought they said he could play which is why Wolfy isn't in the squad.
  12. someone would have to drive him up here if we signed him.
  13. that pass was fantastic, for all the Eardley bashers out there it is very difficult to deliberately slice the ball up and over the defender whilst slipping on to your arse to distract him. I'd like to see that Ronaldodhinio chap do it.
  14. I could only guess he was offside when Cossley hit that accurate pass through their defender and that he came back into an onside position when iriekpen hit the deck. I didn't think the defender touched it despite his best efforts.
  15. Think you can have as many as you like but the crux is you can only play 5 or have 5 in the macth day squad or something like that. Remember going at the time of the foot and mouth outbreak and they made us walk thro troughs of disinfectant to get in the ground. Nothing to do with foot and mouth... just because we came from up North.
  16. some of my best Latics experiences were night matches . ...........but then again 5-0 down at half time away at Bratfort int' cup wasn't too clever.
  17. I wondered about the stats as well (are you quoting the BBC, which is what I read?) they make us seem like we were well in it but listening to the very occasional reports from BBC Manchester we sounded very poor. Were you listening to something different?
  18. me and my mate were having the discussion yesterday and decided they must ahve abandoned the 6 second rule! I thought he held it for at least 10 seconds and wasn't being blocked other than where he wanted to kick it.
  19. Hi Wozz Good arguement you make but I don't think the law was brought in to make people unhappy. There were several incidents in the 80s where people died as a direct result of standing areas being overcrowded either by too many people getting in to a ground or fans running to taunt/attack opposing fans (unlikely to happen at BP I know) I remember coming home that Saturday night from a Latics home game (Plymouth or Sunderland not sure which - the other was the minute silence the following home game) and seeing photos in the Pink of a girl pressed up against the Leppings Lane barriers - she was a very similar age to my girl friend who had been with me at Latics that afternoon. I also remember reading about the couple who sat in the main stand at Hillsborough that day and watched their 16/17 year old twin girls get crushed to death below and to the left of them. My daughter is now 16 and occasionally comes to games with me and her 8 year old sister. I spent the years from aged 10 to 32 watching latics stood up and agree with you, i much preferred it and it did create a better atmosphere but things changed not on a whim but for a very good reason. I loved the old wooden stands as well , beautiful structures but wouldn't want them built now and i don't think the reaction to the Bradford fire was OTT either. We still sing and whenever it gets exciting we stand up for 20-30 seconds or so. I may be wrong but i think that many of the fans who stand up for prolonged periods of time do so just to make a point. KTF
