I felt he looked good full stop at his best. I can see him packing in as well. Remember he was at New Mills for a time. Whether it's physical with him or mental I don't know. He seemed to be regularly injured. It must be hard going from believing/hoping you'll soon be playing at OT and then 12 months later being released.

Knee jerk reaction but the fans have been after him for the past few weeks. They are the mighty Sunderland for gods sake and shouldnt be scrabbling with the non league likes of Wiggin and Wycombe. Who are they going to appoint, Big Lawrie or Big Bob?

He was part of the first Latics team I watched on a regular basis starting in November 1970. One of several 'uncompromising ' centre halves we had around that time. And still won the Ford Sporting League. Big part of that side was Bill.

Reminds me of reading Neil Redfearns autobiography. Every club he went to, first season loved it and turned the team round. Second season manager played me out of position and messed me about so I had to leave.
